    Done properly, sound deadening the doors makes a huge difference. Years working in a stereo shop has proved this to be true.

    • @MotoringBoxTV
      @MotoringBoxTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For interests sake did you guys do anything different or apply any more material than I did?

      @@MotoringBoxTV I also run deadening over the side intrusion bars. Also use a roller to ensure the deadener is flat against the panels. But when we use deadener it's for the sound, not so much for lowering road noise (which is obviously also a welcome side effect) I actually made my comment midway through watching, and hadn't seen you also did the rear doors for road noise.
      In my personal cars I have the inner door skins done like you did, then also the skin where the door trims mount, the aim is to seal the door as much as possible, and to make the panels as dense as possible. The difference in sound is substantial.

    Many years agom I sound deadened the entire floor, doors & hatch on a EFII wagon. When you shut the doors it sounded like a Mercedes saloon. The aftermarket stereo was INCREDIBLE. Worth the effort if its a keeper. A drunk driver t boned that wagon one night which led to a EL XR8 5 speed replacement so not a complete loss.

    I got my au falcon from my mum a little bit ago, I've turned it into my project car and I'm gonna get it registered for my p plates, I just got a new stereo and tested out what I thought was the oem speakers, I don't think they're oem.. they're really good sounding and I can turn the stereo up super loud and there's not rattles or anything that would make it sound bad, my mum got the car about 4 years ago and they never mentioned it having aftermarket speakers

    Love the Kenwood KFCs. I put them in my AU when I had one, and in my BF fairlane which I have now. Honestly, such a worthwhile upgrade if you're just after good audio, not 'blow your pants off and rock up to the beach with your back hatch open in GTA San Andreas' audio. Still, makes listening to music when driving a much better experience than stock

    I have learned through annoying experience (actually, no I haven't learned at all) that fixing one thing often leads to breaking something else. It's very annoying, especially when all you want to do is just finesse something and you end up breaking it in a completely unforeseen way 😄 The fun of it all! 😊

  • @nicholascroft520
    @nicholascroft520 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Noticing a few things. 1. Sound dampening material stops panel resonance and prevents vibrations from bass. If you want to prevent inbound sound you need to follow it up with an acoustic foam. 2. In order for the butyl sound dampening material to do it’s jobs efficiently you need to roll it down otherwise it will not bond with the panel properly and you can get air blisters under the material and cause corrosion. You can also use it between the speaker and door to “decouple” the speaker from the door. Please stop cutting plugs off cars. They literally make speaker adaptors for $8 that allow you to revert it back to stock. Another good tip is that you can fit a 6x8 in a 5x7 hole as they use the same mounting pattern. Overall good video just small things.

    Finally got a chance to watch this after being on the road for a couple of days.
    Two tips I can offer: If you hold the speaker connector like a capital “T” the top wire is always negative. Second, two pieces of deadener across the inside of the roof underneath the headlining makes an incredible difference to both road noise and thermals- important if you’ve got wee little ones in the car.

    In relation to the NVH noise, vibration, harshness. I placed a pool noodle in the bottom of each door and some in the quarter panels etc. Was very surprised how much road noise was reduced. At $2 per pool noodle was fantastic value. EL Falcon XR6 sedan.

    Probably a bit late to the party but I'm doing this on a S1 Forte at the moment, and I found that the connector at 7:02 doesn't seem to be a Ford specific connector, but rather a generic automotive plug sold by a bunch of auto stores.
    Narva has it listed as part number 56272BL, and I've seen them called 2 way 250 Series Connectors as well if anyone is keen on keeping the original loom as is.
    Keep in mind you then basically need to rig up an adapter with the male housing on one end and the spade connectors for the speakers on the other so there is some extra work and one additional point of failure if you screw it up

    Just on a side topic of rust prevention in Falcon boot and tail gates due to water pooling inside. Remove the rubber grommets from the bottom edge of the boot lid and bottom of the doors (optional) as that allows water to drain out. Spray some rust prevention inside doors , boot lid, sills, quarter panels, etc also is a great way to further prevent rust...Tectyl 506.

    I have a genuine question. I have a ba xt with the standard sound system. Will that exact speaker work with my car or will I have to upgrade the head unit, wiring ect?

    • @MotoringBoxTV
      @MotoringBoxTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BA should run the same size speakers. The head unit or wiring doesn't need to be changed, just potentially the connector on the end of the wire where it connects to the speaker - like what I had to do.

      I think there's a tab on the underside of the button which you need to pull outwards before you reinstall it. Use the flat screwdriver and you should be able to lever it out.

    The speakers in my Subaru make that shitty noise you mentioned when I move the volume passed 1 lol, I dont bother fixing them because in reality a pig is still a pig even after you dress it up. I prefer my Pajero that has perfectly working factory speakers so I just drive that instead when I want to listen to some music 🤣🤣🤣

    Never ever cut the original wiring. Just adapt whatever speaker you are fitting to the original plug. Learned this from decades of trying to restore original wiring looms that people have decided to cut up for the sake of fitting some $20 speakers or other accessory

      Usually speakers are not front/rear specific.. you should have two identical speakers in the box. So you'll need a second set to do the rears. Happy to be corrected if the box says otherwise though.
