    Anastasia my dear the metro ticket is a multi use ticket and can be used to buses and trams also. Even exiting the metro station you can embark from a nearby point to a bus and get to your final destination. And even after that you shouldn’t discard it because it contains a microprocessor and it can be refilled in terminal machines in the metro stations with an amount of money that allows 5 or 10 uses.

    Great tips, especially about the rooftop and the flushing 😃 I'm European and tipping in Europe is done for well done customer service and/or amazing meal, but it's not compulsory. We don't expect customers to pay employees' salaries.

    Good advice! Yes, save the museums for during peak heat of the day between noon to 5pm. It’s sooo hot. The public transportation is great. Even getting to the beach is just a ride from Syntagma station on the tram to the beach areas.

    I would also recommend the national archeological museum of Athens, in a big 19th century building, where there are thousands of artifacts.
    Also try Benaki museum which is based on a private collection and will travel you through ALL the Greek history, not only antiquity.

    A little late getting to this one. 😀 Lived for a few years in Athens growing up, technically in Voula, down the coast a bit in what I think they are now calling the Athens Riviera. One of the things I loved about that time and that I still love about Greece are the rooftops. We had the full second story of the house we rented, along with a room on the roof and both inside and outside (spiral staircase) access to the roof. I loved being up on the roof at night and looking at the mostly cargo ships heading toward Piraeus, the port city, through a telescope. Kind of magical to zoom in on the ships out on the water. Very cool looking out over the city itself as well.

    thanks for your prompt and cheery reply. Here are my questions: We are going to Santorini for 3 full days (4 nights). We like exploring & seeing what is unique but not looking for the party scene. What would be your top spots? And we like your idea to bargain for a car. We didn't know to bargain for hotels so we already made the reservations. Should we loop back and trying to bargain or look elsewhere?

      There is not much partying in Santorini. This island is all about relaxing and romance. I would visit some of the wineries, if you are into wine. Go for a stroll through the colorful streets, try some Greek food and definitely enjoy some of the beaches. Hi, just got back from 11 wonderful days in Greece. The only time we had to show our vaccine cards was in Athens at a bar. We just showed the guy the picture of it on our phones, so it's a good idea to have it on the phone just in case. We saw the smoke in the air, but we couldn't really smell it. Spent 7 days on a cruise and visited 6 different ports/islands. While on excursions we were asked to wear our masks, but outdoors we were fine. A few shops had signs for masks, so we had one when we needed it. Coming home on Swissair, through Zurich, everyone had to stand in line to show passports and test results before boarding flight to the US. It was a very long line and took about an hour. Be prepared for a long wait. take turns sitting. Say, have u been to Portugal yet? Would love your insights for next year's trip. Have fun!

    • @StayFabulousTL
      @StayFabulousTL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do! I took so many ferries between the islands and I actually have a video on Greek ferries: th-cam.com/video/AoMKclHZLjQ/w-d-xo.html I took a SeaJet ferry from Paros to Mykonos and I cannot tell you that something was different from the other ferries. Actually, that was the ferry that upgraded me for free to a business class. To me, the process and the experience on all the ferries are pretty much the same-you walk in, find a place for your bags, go upstairs, find your spot and from there just enjoy the ride to your destination.

    • @StayFabulousTL
      @StayFabulousTL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Roshan! Every island in Greece is so unique, so it depends on what you like to do, your budget, etc. But I would definitely recommend to look into Paros and Antiparos. You can get easily to Paros from Santorini by ferry. While in Paros, you can visit Antiparos by ferry which is only 7 minutes away from Paros.

      Iryna, I hear you. I used my credit card for everything in Greece. In five months I maybe spent $250 in cash, if that. In Greece you can pay with a card everywhere. In most places, not all but some, you can even leave a tip on the card. So if you are going for a week, $200 is plenty in my opinion.
