You give me hope! I'm glad Chaska is doing well, and that CBD made for a good treatment. I'm going through the same thing with my 3yo Male Husky, hes gotten a seizure once every 5-6 weeks, first one I saw was in January. I thought it was a one off thing, vet told me if it happens again to consult him. few weeks later it happens, so we do an x-ray + blood tests and he turns out to be completely fine, very healthy in fact. so the doctor diagnosed him with epilepsy and prescribed KEPRA (which is making him lethargic, and today he growled at someone which is so unlike him). He's been on it for like a month, BUT he still got a seizure two days ago after I thought he would be fine..... I've been doing more research and came to two conclusions, 1) a whole food diet is better than anything, if you include the right foods and avoid the wrong ones. There has been promising research concluding this, but it just hasn't been done on a mass scale yet. Certain things like coconut oil are reported to contain MCT (?) which helps prevent seizures and keeps the brain healthy. I'm looking into a gradual diet change, but not 100% on the coconut oil as a source for MCT, which brings me to my second....2) CBD, though a lot of vets don't recommend it (yet), a lot of personal accounts swear by using it to help their dogs, including you. The fact that you mentioned it has coconut oil reassures me even more. I'm sorry for the mass text, but you can understand my worry.....can you please tell me if CBD has any side effects? you said Chaska seems younger! But does the CBD make him sleepy, or lazy, or disobey? My dog is also prescribed Royal Canin Gastrointestinal food, I'm feeling worse and worse about that everyday as I read more, despite it being considered a high quality dog food. Thanks
I'm so sorry to hear that your husky is having seizures! CBD made Chaska very lethargic to begin with but seemed to become less lethargic as the year went on. Still no seizures and he is only getting 1 dose a week now (and spot treatment when I get worried about his behavior). The weening process was very slow but I made sure to be giving him a 100% dosage of CBD while at 100% Keppra before I started it. The two don't mix and there wasn't a drug interaction, but it can be different for every dog so monitor closely. Keppra rage is very common. Chaska really got aggressive towards my other dog and people who weren't me, so be careful about that. Keppra rage is also pretty common in people so it's well documented. I think one of the things that also helped is I did switch Chaska over to Purina Pro. I've never been a fan dry kibble but with all the new information coming out about grain free have serious health side effects, plus a vet friend suggested it. As I said in the video, personally I cannot tell you to do anything that will harm your dog, but my personal experience has been very positive with CBD. Just make sure to get a quality product, Source CBD has been what I've been using and it honestly is super high quality.
Chaska the Husky thanks will. How do you dose it? As in How do you know how much chaska needed? Did you consult a vet about it before? And finally, why did you choose Source CBD?? Sorry for the questions but I hope you understand how helpful your information is, life saving even. Thank you again 🙏
I am having exactly the same issues with my 2.5 year old husky, Sinatra. I've refused to try of the typical drugs. 2 days ago I started Sinatra on a dose of .2 mg per kg twice per day. I'm so hoping it at the very least reduces his seizures. How are Chaska and your husky doing? I do hope they are doing well. Thanks for posting this information!

Hello. It’s amazing to see your dog doing well with cbd! My 8 year old husky malamute mix just started having seizures. How long did it take for you to see changes with cbd? I have started usuing vet cbd for my dog. I started with a low dose of .5 ml but going to start giving him more gradually. The vet gave me gabapentin at first but after the bloodwork came through and showed nothing wrong with his organs he switched it to keppra. I just got these so he’s just starting the treatment. Source cbd looks pretty good. I am going to look into it and hopefully can get some locally.
I hope all is going well. I saw, immediate results in terms of the aggression keppra caused, Keppra did prevent the seizures, but after full transition I never saw a seizure again. @@helenaschweska7018 Sorry for taking so long to get back to you!!!! I have to say follow your vets advice and consult on what can work. I believe diet and CBD can help manage seizures and potentially heal. A lot of medicine is rough on livers and kidneys where as CBD passes through just fine. Take everything in very small baby steps and constantly monitor behavior and health. In Chaska's case I believe the seizures were 100% environmental. Either food or some chemical. Although his dog food had laboratory tested high levels of lead and mercury.
CBD has been a game changer for my family as well. Two of my dogs and my husband take it daily. It works wonders for so many things. I’m sorry y’all went through that but glad you found a natural supplement.
It really does! My other dog Bailey has high anxiety and it helps him out so much too. I also recently had a few panic attacks and CBD works so well for managing it.
Hey , my pup is having seizures and I stumbled on your video. Your giving your dog 200mg per dose of cbd twice a day? Or is is just the oil that totals 200mg per bottle ? I would love to hear back from you as soon as possible my pup is 35 pounds and thinking in giving him 150mg twice a day that would equal to 300. How before the seizures seized ?
I'm responding on my personal account. I gave Chaska 200mg twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. No harm in trying CBD oil to see if it helps. Also consider changing diet for or brand of dog food. I found that high protein diets can also trigger seizures.
@@wave221 thank you for the response. Did the seizures stop install or did it take time to build up in the system. Thanks for your help man honestly 🙏🏼
How many seizures was Chaska having? We have a year old husky that has been having seizures almost daily for the last 6 months. He’s currently on 4 anti-seizure meds. We just reached out to a Naturopath and she recommended raw food and CBD. We’re currently just waiting to receive the CBD. Just curious how often Chaska was having seizures?
People talk about seizures in animals as if it’s a normal thing in nature you don’t see the deer dropping down with seizures or any other wild animal unless they have been poisened
Hey thanks so much for your content great news with chaka Can you say how often did Chaka had attacks ? And what strength of the cbd oil did you start with ? Thanks much
My 1 and half year old frenchie started having seizures last week, there are so many CBD oils out there now. I don't know which one to get! Any suggestions? thanks.
Chaska went off CBD back in 2020 during lockdown. He's been doing really well without it. From what I have read, his seizures were more than likely caused by his food. Switching from a protein-only diet with the CBD helped control it, then a slow tapering of the oil eventually got him off it.
Hiyaa I’m going through a sort of similar situation, how many drops of CBD do you give in the morning and at night? Did you guys end up changing his food or anything aswell?
What dosing do you use for him?(mg per kg/lb) My vet wants to put my dog on Keppra for focal cluster seizures, but I'm hesitant cuz of the behavioral side effects.
Thank you for posting!! I recently adopted a mini schnauzer with seizures, some of my family thought I was crazy but I fell in love with her and I am willing to work through with her. Right she is on Keppra as well but I do not think that it is doing anything for her. I actually tried CDB treats 100 mg and saw no difference and want to take her off Keppra as well. When you took him off the Keppra did you do it cold turkey or gradually? Also, I was thinking of ordering online but I know that deliveries are backed up so I was thinking of also buying at the store. How many mg do you use? should I buy canine-specific tincture?
I'm not a vet so I can't provide any recommendation of what you should do. I did it very gradually. Starting with 100% Keppra and 5% dosage of CBD. Then slowly increasing dosage over a period of 2 weeks. The nice think about keppra is it is an instantaneous drug whereas Pheno takes weeks to work and then get out of the system. If you do try CBD make sure you are watching your dog for any signs of seizure or ill effects. The last thing you want to do is hurt your fluff buddy even more. Because of Chaska's weight he was getting 400mg a day. Now he gets 200mg every few days. I definitely recommend using dog specific. SourceCBD.com still has their 50% discount code of Family available.
My dog is suffering the same . She’s on Keppra and the seizure keep coming. Last night she experienced it 4 times during 3 hours . I’m not financially flexible to have her see neurologist at this time. My question is , do I give her cbd and Keppra T the same time ? And how much of cbd oil should i give her ? It breaks my heart witnessing my 1 year lab keeps having seizure . Thank you
Chaska was on a 200mg dose for 50lbs. Definitely check out Source CBD. I like them the best! Chaska was also able to take both Keppra and CBD but at first I heavily monitored him. As an individual I can't say you should do anything, I just want to share my personal story and I hope you consult your vet before making any change or addition. I'll have you and your pup in my prayers!
I have mix pitbull and she has epilepsy. I have CBD oil 25 mg which I used for my other dog for his shoulder blade pain med. I'm not so sure if this gonna work to her or not. How much do you give your dog? Pls I need some answer. She's taking the epilepsy med ph...I but looks like getting worst and she don't remember me at all.
I'm sorry to here that! Chaska was taking a 200mg dosage twice a day. So your pit could probably take the 500mg dosage. Dosage is based on weight but what's great about CBD is you can't overdose. Definitely don't withdraw the seizure meds entirely. Use the CBD along side. I would also talk to your vet about the meds not working. Potentially your pit built up a tolerance. I hope everything gets better!
I’d like more info ! I have a multi poo they have her on the meds you were saying . I’m thinking of trying out cbd oil to help with seziure. She’s 11 1/2 will be 12 in April. We also have her on high protein diet .
My 2.5 year old 60 lb husky just had his first grand mal seizure June 18 and just had a second one this Saturday (8/1). How much would you recommend me giving him of the 500mg? And would you recommend just cbd (possibly thc indica before bed because that’s when he’s had his seizures) without phenobarb? He has an MRI scheduled for tmrw and the vet has already mentioned putting him on it but I’m very hesitant
I'm so sorry I never responded! I hope everything is okay. I wouldn't just withdraw from the pheno, slowly taper and use the 500mg or stronger, also ask your vet to see if there are other medications that can be offered. Keppra can cause anger issues but there are other treatments avaliable too. Definitelly add the CBD with whatever you give. It can help. In Chaska's case the CBD started helping manage the "keppra rage" he developed.
My girl is on Phenobarbital and I would like to transition her to CBD. I know she needs to be weaned off Phenobarbital first as they can not be mixed...what has the experience been with you all that have done this?
Going from Keppra to CBD is easier as the drug is meant to be constantly flushed through the kidneys. Pheno will be a harder transition as I believe it builds up and takes as long as 2 weeks to fully exit the body. Last I looked CBD was okay for use with all seizure meds but new research may have changed that. As with anything take your time and closely monitor your dog. Also consult your vet before making a drastic change. And definitely do not instantly pull the medication from your dogs routine. That can result in a worse seizure.
Hi. I tried three or four brands of cbd while he was on his three meds. Keppra zonisamide and pheno. His seizures increased. What can I do? I’m at witts end and spent thousands already. Please. Why didn’t it work. There’s gotta be something to help him. Essential oils helped but he’s getting them again. They will stop a seizure but nothing prevents them. Please. Any info would be appreciated.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Have you tried increasing dosage of the CBD? Also it might worth be looking into a different food brand. When I had my food tested (when Chaska was experiencing seizures) it was extremely high in lead and mercury.
Hmm.... I've read that zinc deficiency can cause seizures especially in northern breed dogs. When your husky showed improvement, was it around the same time as the diet change?
The oil comes with a little dropper. I used to dose Chaska twice a day. Once in the morning, and once at night. Although now he's only getting it once a day.

Chaska the Husky we switched him to raw and he did good. I did try increasing the dosage and nothing. Ugh.
Hmm.... I've read that zinc deficiency can cause seizures especially in northern breed dogs.
When your husky showed improvement, was it around the same time as the diet change?
Chaska the Husky my boy is a boxer. I heard about zinc and husky’s though.
@@vanity68 sorry! Zinc deficiency can definitely still occur in other breeds. I can research and see if I can find anything.
How do you dose it to them? Do you give it to them once a day or during seizure?
The oil comes with a little dropper. I used to dose Chaska twice a day. Once in the morning, and once at night. Although now he's only getting it once a day.
Have you tried Weedborn CBD yet?
No I haven't. Chaska actually no longer needs CBD and has been off of it for 2 years.
