As i remember popularity rock song from CN Blue,FT Island also huge. Not only music,establish kdrama industry is getting better,and variety show also,like Running Man,Lets Go Dream Team. Its happen really fast.
Girl groups were very popular in late 90s but like America died out mid 2000s. There was a brief attempt at revival around the same time in the west think Danity Kane, Pussycat dolls, then 5th harmony but nothing like the resurgence in girl group popularity that hit Korea in the late 00s

Hmm, I discovered K-pop in 2019, and immediately, my two favorites were EXID and Red Velvet. Then, it was Apink, Loona, Twice, WJSN the Cosmic girls, Oh My Girl, IU, April, and Dia. I like the 3rd generation K-pop girl groups, but I have an extensive collection including the 1st and 2nd generation SES, Finkl, Girls Generation, Miss A, Beste, Sistar, and Brown Eyed Girls.
But my favorite became the Lovelyz, who I found a month before they disbanded. I can spend my whole day listening to them. The Lovelyz are the only Girl Group that I have every version of their albums, their concerts, all member signed albums and a light stick. They are the only girl group that I have an album saved and an album to flip through and look at. With a few exceptions, I could probably sell my entire K-pop album collection. The Lovelyz and The Beatles albums are the ones that I would take with me if I was ever stuck on a desert island.

If the numbers were taken this year, it defeats the purpose since groups that got famous during a later period will have higher number of streams due to fan streams than vs the real time of release.
Definitly this year. Melon didn't even exist before 2004 and I'm not sure if the like feature was always there. Anyway, you can tell for sure from Brave Girls' Rolling being number 1 in 2017. I still found this interesting though.

Likes on songs isn't one of the main factors to show a song's success, because Tell Me and Gee were the biggest songs of the 2000s and they barely made this list, even if they both topped all the main charts for over a month. XD
Also, SISTAR's Loving U isn't even one of their 4 biggest hits, but it's the one with the most likes.
