that actually worked with me! thank you sooo much. amazing what a different way of thinking can do for one. now if i can just hold onto that and keep it up. that's the hard part. thanks again zuzanna!
I am not a young person. I have heard a lot of music and seen a lot of artists attempt to do what Jesse is doing. His Soul bleeds from his aura and his guitar. Every song has the ability to reach in a touch your heart. Thank you Jesse for doing what no one else can do.
Très bien exprimé.. N aurais pu mieux dire ! Il atteint votre Âme. On ne s en lasse pas... Par tous les temps les saisons les années.. Il traverse tout avec sa musique... 🙏💯💕🤍🌹
In this world there are many guitarists who are capable of playing the most difficult and complicated music that you will ever hear on a guitar, but only a few are capable of the most sublime, which is making it speak. And Jesse Cook gets it. Thank you, thank you very much Master.
This is the first time I saw this video "Once" and it broke me...the memories of old stone houses in my mom's and in my dad's villages, each on opposite sides of the country but so much in common...my childhood and youth spent in both of those villages and my goodby when I was leaving to come to this part of the world, Canada. All the hurt of "goodbyes", shared lives and moments to become just sweet and sad memories, leaving it all behind and much of it does not even exist any more. All of it came like and avalanche while listening to you playing the plaintive notes of the song and watching you walk away for good. I did, too, like you did, not to return...Aaahhh, pain and tears. long held in...found their way out with your heartfelt play on the strings of your guitar...it is quite a release for me and I thank you again for your sensitive heart and soul poured out with your music. Another of sad but healing song for me. Thank you, thank you, Jesse, you are one of a kind
Thank you for sharing your story. I guess our experience is not unique. I didn’t go back for decades, when I finally found my way back to our little village, I absolutely lost it. It took me quite by surprise. My daughter didn’t understand why daddy was crying. But though those places may still exist, they have changed, and so had I. The world moves ever forward. It was wonderful to go back. And sometimes that’s enough...
Beautiful song Jesse, The music and videography were so on point. I wrote the below after my husband passed and the song didn't bring tears but an appreciation of the time we had together. Time stops for no one and as the years move on and we move forward from what once was. We take the memories and experiences making them even more beautiful in the tapestry of life we continue to weave. A Widow’s Path A widow’s path she walks alone Each step she takes leads her far from home A place once was is no more Future uncertain on distant shores The sunrises, the sun sets Her beloved gone, holding no regrets Except the future not shared With her loved one not spared A widow’s path she walks alone Each step she takes leads her far from home
🍃💐 Speaks to many many .. many… Some losses we recover from.. some we don’t.. we don’t want to.. this life is short.. great thing departure is not forever. They want us to move on but… how can we.. if that was one more sign of their love to us? I wish you happiness… both lives! 💞
I'm 77 and listened this song so many times but every tyme is a new message for me , the life isn't infinite and how many remembers this song is giving me
The intimate finesse of what notes Jesse chooses to play, and which ones he doesn't shows how the song is written from an unscripted heart... just following the feelings. That is everlasting art. And the spirit recognizes and follows that soothing, still small voice. Still wondering how many times can I listen to this song? I don't think it's possible to tire of it. It's food. All my soul is grateful Jesse.
Oh God, how wonderful it is to feel alive and enjoy this master's amazing musical piece that brings everything together...past...present....future...joy...sadness...as well as pure bliss. Thank you, Lord, for creating a Jesse for Your people.
You describing my soul in many melodies of yours Jesse... Thank you for helping me through life. Your music should be playing in peoples lives because it’s pure and honest and most of all...it has the soul full of love and emotions. Thank you❤️
You’re the guy that made me buy a nylon string guitar after watching you perform live in London. You are a 360 degree Artist. Visual photography, video editing and melody makes this videoclip amazing to watch.
At the Kelowna concert last Saturday, Jesse told us the story behind this song and this video is exactly as he described the story behind this beautiful song. Thank you, Jesse!
just got to see him tonight in Edmonton, AB Canada. I have lost track of how many times I have seen him over the last 20 years since I heard about him, and the shows are just as good now as they were when I first went. This is one of my top Jesse Cook songs and was so glad that he played it tonight.
Nostalgic moments. A good background music if you want to reminisce the past or just simply contemplate. Thank you for sharing your gift in music and expressing your thoughts and passion.
I never comment but this just speaks to me so strongly. I had a happy and magical childhood even though we grew up in poverty. I still drive thru that neighborhood when I travel home. When I see the old house, all kinds of emotions, some good some not, wash over me. It affects my poetry and my song writing in many ways but mostly, it affects me as a father. The music is perfect for what I feel when I return to home. Your music is inspiring Jesse....thank you for taking the time to share the story.
On your last concert in Toronto you shared with us the beautiful story behind this amazing music -I was there with my family and I had tears in my eyes during the all time you played “Once”. First time when I heard this song, I was on a plane, going back home to see my parents and my home.. i didn’t know anything about you, but I heard this song over and over again, probably 30 times ...and I felt everything that you felt when you went back with your kids to that beautiful, stone house in France where you grew up.. I didn’t know your story then, but your music so magically spoke to my heart and made me feel what you felt going back and what you wanted to say through your wonderful music ... Once will be forever one of my favourites!!!💓💓💓
Jesse I was so blown away and blessed to have had the chance to see you in concert in my town of Florence Oregon...it was a dream come true. Thank you for bringing your soul and beautiful sound to our small community ❤️
I can’t wait to see you in San Diego in November Jessie Cook.! I had plans to take my younger sister with me but sadly and unfortunately she just passed away a few days ago. She too loved your music
Every time I listen to iti find peace of mind and i throw everything behind me. It makes me feel like nothing in life deserves to be sad for. Thank you man
i have seen the band 4 times live....and as i listen here and now it is the same, i immerse myself and become one with the music, it envelopes me so profoundly like none before, all the artists in the band are so talented and the music is so unique, no catagorey ...thank you for all of it
Today the doorbell rang. The postman brought a little package. It was the CD "One World from Jesse Cook. How happy I am! The music "Once" is so beautiful. "Once" is emotional but always gives hope. Later a best friend told me he wanted to see me happy and send this CD gift today. I must share this happy day. Now I can listen again in my car "One World". Thank you Tom and thank you for your wonderful music Jesse Cook.
I listened to Jesse Cook’s musics in 2000s when I was living in one of the most isolated places on earth. I think the music was one of the few things that we had access to at that time..
My local public radio station just played this song it’s absolutely beautiful. I’ve never heard of you before but I’m going to subscribe to your channel and listen to some more wonderful music.😊 ❤
To be able to write a life story on a six string guitar is amazing...to be able to do it so emotionally beautiful, is from another dimension of the senses. God bless Jesse ❤🍃 ~Peter

Thanks, Jesse! There is heart-breaking, yet uplifting tune in this melody, about Time and Soul travelling within it. Love every second of it. Great job with video as well, we all have our Aveyrons....

Of all his songs, this one is my most favorite. The moment I hear it, it takes me away, removes me from the current realm into a place of peace and tranquility.

Very touching and inspiring. I love this "forgotten part of the world", Aveyron, Gers, all those south-west France country area. I use to live in France (I live in Quebec now) and the only thing that really miss me is the "old stone" and those "forgotten place". It's so peaceful and beautiful. Thanks a lot.

Time capsule, Jesse. World moved, we did too, but the child is there for eternity. It's a spark from God to always remember.

A Widow’s Path
A widow’s path she walks alone
Each step she takes leads her far from home
A place once was is no more
Future uncertain on distant shores
The sunrises, the sun sets
Her beloved gone, holding no regrets
Except the future not shared
With her loved one not spared
A widow’s path she walks alone
Each step she takes leads her far from home
Beautiful.
