  • Grafting is a technique like any other that can be used to further your design goals. What grafting does so efficiently is allow for the placement of the foliage of your choice onto the plant with a bad tipe of foliage and in the position of your choice. Grafting also allows for roots to be added at any location along the lifeline to make a juniper shorter or to remove problematic root formations. Because grafting is such a versatile tool it can accomplish the transformation of mediocre material into great material and given the right placement and design decisions. In this video Mauro Stemberger and his Team work on a huge Sonare Juniper from japan grafted Itoigawa Juniper a better tipe of foliage for develop a fantastic tree for the future. Mauro explains why grafting technique is so important and the goals for this transformation.

Wow, very nice tree, and excellent job walking thru the styling process. Overall results are amazing! I would really like to see a demo on the actual grafting process, I have many junipers, including some collected trees with less desirable foliage that would benefit from grafting. I find that my larger trees keep more compact foliage, while some of the smaller collected trees have so much energy they tend to be harder to keep compact foliage. Thanks, and keep the videos coming!

Wow, lots of useful info and what a gorgeous tree! Would you tell me please where exactly in Brazil you found this itoigawa type? I guess it was in São Paulo because of the Japanese community, right? But where exactly?
