I remember watching this when it first came out and to come back and watch this again. Original Skateboards had the best videos back then because it wasn't just longboarding, but longboarding with friends and family together and told it through a story.
Yeah man I agree. The thing is that the friends and family thing never really stopped, its just that we stopped filming that part of it. There was a TON of hate on this stuff back then. Partly deserved since this series was shot in 2010, and not released for 14 months. Back then that made the riding completely irrelevant by the time anyone saw it. The positives of doing less filming were the constructions and engineering improvements we focused on instead, negatives, less travel. Need that.
Dude, Nick, thanks for the support man. Pretty rediculous to think that this was shot back in 2010. Shit goes fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.
this has to be my 4th or 5th time watching this series through. every now and then I come back to it.. It just gives me the best vibes about life, I can't explain it, but thanks for that Original
This one single video has defined so many different aspects of my life. I was a freshman in highschool in 2012 when I first watched this video and man I was HOOKED. The music, the cinematography, the atmosphere, everything about this video was what I wanted out of my life which to me, was total and complete freedom. I took up long boarding soon after, fell off after a couple of years and never went back but this video has continuously drawn me back year after year after year for the sole purpose that its message is complete and utter freedom. I have lost my way several times in my adult life but this, this one single video has continued to remind me what life is all about, love, unity, beauty and freedom. From the bottom of my heart, as a 27 year old man continuing to live through life, thank you so much to the original skateboard crew for inspiring me each time I watch this video to keep moving forward and to strive towards what I want in life. P.S. I’ve been following bishop on Instagram for YEARS and seeing this man grow a family has been the most wholesome experience. I love this video so damn much.
These videos are what got me into skating. After the first episode I got my mom to drive me to big 5 and bought the shittiest long board you can imagine. Six years later and I'm still skating, all thanks to this these few videos. Thank you Original for changing my life and inspiring me. I love these videos and will always come back to them year after year. Who knows, maybe one day I'll find my own goat head and drive it around Hawaii. Much Love
This series is what inspired me to, instead of just watch, actually start longboarding myself. It's been 4-5 years now and I still find myself coming back to this series at least annually. The music, the shots, the whole atmosphere of these friends doing this is just next level feel good stuff. And Ian is such a cool dude.
Ive been a fan of Original for 3 years now I just have to say, this is the very soul of longboarding. Just the primal freedom, the breath-taking view, and the amazing vibes. Every time I watch this video I have feeling in my chest, like its pulling me to go outside, no matter in what kind of weather, and skate. I love you guys, I really truly do.
Yeeewwww! Awesome. You can start riding at any age...it's all about going out, getting your friends together, and having fun. Super stoked to read this comment. Just made my day.
MrMokyz I am 41 years old and I am just learning how to skateboard and I now just acquired a Bustin Push Series Longboard. It is never too late to have fun and be healthy. This sport is a workout. I have to give credit to my rescued street skateboard for the time and practice that I put in. Peace, Flood!
Still lovin this! It's goin to be about 6 years now when i saw this for the first time. It was this session which made me to bought my first longboard! Thanks you guys, thank you for providing me 6 years of happiness every time I stood up to board.
Cody Becht oh shoot! That sucks, but it happens to the best of us. There's no progress without pushing the limits, but make sure you practice stopping. A general rule of thumb is unless you can run it out, you best know how to slide.
I'm actually 20 years old. I just recently got into longboarding from one of my friends. Where I lived, it was not popular. Skateboarding was popular but that just didn't seem like my type of thing. It's never too late as long as you truly have passion for it :)
I watched all of these videos when they first came out as a 12-13 year old and man did I think you guys were the coolest (still do 🤙🏼). It’s because of these videos that my friends and I got into longboarding. Haven’t ridden in a couple years but I’d love to get back into it. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane!
@SurfsUpBr0 great boards to start out on are our Pintails. They come in four different sizes, they're easy to learn on, and they're great for advanced riders too. They are meant for cruising and carving, and can handle smaller hills and slides.
@Originalskateboards I'll accept that answer. I heard about it a little over a year ago and expected it back then. Oh well, its here now. I’m so excited!
Please have another short adventure series like this again! I only started getting into skateboarding in 9th grade through 10th grade and you guys are like already my ideals
@PolymathicJoeMan you may want to start out with a good starter board, such as a pintail to learn the basics of longboarding: cruising and carving. As you progress, you can change your wheels to change up the way you ride. Once you have the basics down you'll know they type of riding you are interested in and you can upgrade your board to match that riding style.
@lucgorjo The pintail 43 would be a good board for you. It's 9 ply and so it's stiff and stable for cruising and smaller hills. With Original trucks you'll still be able to carve easily too. You may want to get the red medium tension springs in your trucks for some added stability.
@1RSplayer it's pretty easy to slide with the spring loaded trucks since they are a looser truck. They are made for carving and speeds under 25 mph. If you're looking to go faster then you may want to check out a bushing truck.
@Clerpents the pintail 43 would be a good board for you. It's great for cruising and carving. You may also want to put some red medium tension springs in your trucks for a bit more stability.
@the97reapuh Yes, the Apex 40s do have the carbon reinforcement bar! Both concaves include kick tails and gas pedals. Either concave is great for freestyle and freeride, but the double concave is geared more for speed. The double concave locks your feet in during slides and makes your tuck comfy for bombing hills. The Av rocker has taller kicks offering better freestyle capabilities.
@GladiatoRileh the Freeride 38 with rocker concave would be a great board for the type of riding you are looking to do. It's also an easy board to learn on since it's stable and lower to the ground.
@endlezzreign the Pintail 43 with white heavy tension springs would be a great board for you. It's easy to learn on and it meant for cruising, carving, smaller hills, and some slides.
@xninfoxx Hey Joe! The Apex 34 sounds like a great board for you! It's meant for flat land freestyle, cruising, and carving. It's pretty light and it's 5 inches shorter than the Tan Tien so I think you would enjoy it!
This, like everything else you upload, inspires me. I want to thank you guys for being an awesome source of inspiration. You are great and every time I watch your videos I just want to go out there, ride with friends, have a great time and just go. Thanks. Thanks for being awesome!
@treflop1234 they're pretty different. The deville rat rod is more of a downhill carving board, and is made out of bamboo and has some decent flex to it. The Apex 37 is mostly a freestyle board and is made with a carbon fiber reinforcement bar to ensure durability. It will not snap while doing tricks.
Like how do you guys find all these great songs the vibe they give is so great, it really adds a sort of just chill feeling on all your videos. Really digging all your stuff
@silver109rox standard is a good way to go if you are just starting out. The bearings are a bit slow which is good for beginners. If you want to go a bit faster then I suggest upgrading to the Bones Reds and you'll notice a significant difference.
Well you certainly got that right. The Apex series is expensive because of the materials we use to make it. Those materials are only just starting to get the credit they deserve as up until this point the nose and tail still took too many impacts to allow the construction to really shine. Now that the guards are in place the fact that the neck and platform of the deck is practically indestructible will make a lot more of a difference.
@OneEyedPride If you are interested in doing mostly freeriding and high speeds then I suggest going with a freeride board. If you are interested in doing freeriding and freestyle, then I suggest the Apex 40 with double concave. The 40" will handle higher speeds with much more stability than the Apex 37.
@rastafari88jah the Freeride with rocker concave would be a good board for you. Keep the trucks top mounted so you can carver easier. It has gas pedals and the deck is reversed camber, making sliding easy.
@RunningCentral sounds like you have the Freeride 41 with W concave. This board is mostly for high speeds and staying locked in while bombing hills. It can slide, just not as easily as the rocker concave. Yellow Otang stims are already broken in and slide very easily. Get a bit of speed behind you for momentum, and really push out your back foot. Also, open up your hips and shoulders. It might be easier to grab your board and drag your hand at first, so you may want to get slide gloves.
check out our Apex 40 with rocker concave. It has kicks which will help with getting off curbs, it's great for cruising and carving, and it's stable for higher speeds and hills.
I love your videos. I'm in the UK, landlocked and learning to longboard after realising i'm missing out on ALL the things i set out to do many many years ago, at 34 i've got lots to catch up on. kudos guys.
Hey Dominik, In this video they are riding our s series trucks. They are normally used for carving and cruising. I would suggest the Caliber 50 degree for you. They are nice and stable at higher speeds plus are made for sliding. They sound like a great fit for you. _Davey
@SeaSickDrop our trucks are meant for carving, we know that. Which is also why we carry bears and randals for our freeriding boards, and also our Apexes.
I've been skating since 1976, and got the high speed wobbles when i was new to it. I had a plastic crap board and crashed at 30 mph. Didn't even know the wobbles existed; definitely got a lesson. No helmet, pads, etc. got a concussion. Long boarding is an extension of yourself. Anxiety about the ride is transmitted to the trucks and magnified, like resonant frequency, to the point of speed wobbles. Confidence comes over time and allows the speed to increase without wobbles. It cannot be rushed.
This is an unreal series. You guys hit all the spots and made me remember how lucky we are in the Islands. Thanks for putting together such a great tribute to Hawaii. You motivated me to skate. I'm gonna bomb a hill first thing in the morning! Aloha!
I love you guys. You go to some of the most Beautiful Places to do what you love to do the most and you're great at it. Fire on the Mountain and Puerto Rico Session were so Amazing. Keep up the Great work.
@thelife2618 Take a look at our Apex 40 double concave! It's great for cruising, carving, and is very durable for freestyle tricks. The double cc is also great for higher speeds and freeriding control.
Original Longboards, im like fan nr1 here. I love you guys so much for what you have done, i watch your videos every night and I cant wait to get out there and experience this stuff myself! You motivate me every day and im just so grateful that i found you guys here. You guys introduced me to the fantastic world of longboarding, helped me through some shit times, reminded me how great it is out there! Keep shredding!!
@rosiepatosie342 if you are looking to stay under 25 mph then check out the pintail 40. If you want to go much faster then the freeride 38 with rocker concave would be a good board for you.
@hsaawesome3 take a look at our Pintail 37 and Pintail 40! They're great beginner through advanced boards and they are good for cruising, carving, and smaller hills.
@kodie9000 make sure you tighten up your trucks a bit and also, start of small!! Controlling speed wobbles is just as much the rider as it is the set up. As for our boards, our Freeride series are our best boards for higher speeds and freeriding.
@cvfa1 take a look at our pintail series! They come in four different sizes and are great for beginner through advanced riders, cruising, carving, and can also do some sliding.
@iDEADLY68 the Pintail 40 would be a great cruiser for you. It's lower to the ground, and stable, making it great for transportation and just cruising around.
If you're new, I wouldn't spend too much right away. A kicktail longboard with a little concave and a little flex (maybe a 70's style), is really good to see what you want: longboarding could be for freeriding, downhill, cruising, etc.
Right on, a short board with loose trucks and soft wheels are a lot of fun. The thing is that everyone is going to have something different that works for them. You will lose stability but gain a lot of ollie capacity with a setup like you are describing, that said there are plenty of longboards that are (just like you described) very hard to turn, given that they are built for higher speed riding. Matching a very stable / speed oriented board with low speed riding is not much fun at all.
@ldroptheworldl Apex 40 if you're planning on doing mostly freestyle, or the Freeride 41 rocker concave if you are looking to do more freeriding and hills
:D i can't wait! i am going to hawaii in 2 months! i am bringing my longboard and filming a hawaii session two! i am only thirteen and I'm not that good. it was your PR. sessions that inspired me to longboard and i want to thank you for leading me to this awesome lifestyle
Hey BIOYA lol Finding a board to start out on really means finding out what kind of riding you want to do down the line. For freestyle, tricks, carving and sliding the Apex 40 DiamondDrop is our go to all around deck. That said I would look at the Pintail 40 for pure carving. The Arbiter 36 for pure downhill and the Drop Freeride 41 if you want to learn how to slide / freeride. The Derringer 28 is also one my favorites for a carving deck in a small package : )
Hey mah, Coming from a Pintail and looking to upgrade you might want to check out the Freeride 38 RockerConcave or (if you are doing hills) even the Drop Freeride 41. Either one of those will get you stepped up onto something that is ready for more agressive sliding / hill riding, without getting into the super expensive stuff.
@ThePandajimmyskate check out our Apex 34! It's great for cruising and carving around, as well as learning tricks since it's a symmetrical shaped, light weight board.
Sure man, there are a lot of people who don't have huge / long hills to kill at 40+mphs. While the Apex is not going to be great at sustained high speeds, it really shows off at anything under 35mph where you want a more technical ride (assuming you like wide wheelbases). Tack on the fact that vs. freestyle it is one of the strongest decks ever (stronger with the noseguards) and its a pretty awesome choice for tricks, mid ranged speed / sliding, small hills, carving and flatland.
The thing that one of the guys does with his gloves and makes the clicking sound before going down that big mountain gets me so pumped up to go out there and ride.
I remember watching this when it first came out and to come back and watch this again. Original Skateboards had the best videos back then because it wasn't just longboarding, but longboarding with friends and family together and told it through a story.

same...agree.
Same here, can’t believe how time flew by 🙌
Yeah man this series always stuck with me to this day
I watched this series for the first time when I was 11 back in 2011. Still return to watch this series today !!!
Dude, Nick, thanks for the support man. Pretty rediculous to think that this was shot back in 2010. Shit goes fast.

Woot. Mission accomplished! Thanks for the stoke KL.
i comeback to this every year, it inspired me so much when i was younger and it still does!
the best flashback when i used to skate with my friends, and i used to be happy

@Originalskateboards I'll accept that answer.
I heard about it a little over a year ago and expected it back then.
Oh well, its here now.

Idk if its just me, but i think thats skating on a long board on those long roads and nice weather is just beautiful!

@endlezzreign the Pintail 43 with white heavy tension springs would be a great board for you. It's easy to learn on and it meant for cruising, carving, smaller hills, and some slides.

I’m back. This is my favourite series on youtube. What an incredible adventure.
You guys at Originalskateboards are awesome. Love the lifestyle. Also, thanks for always having the best songs in all your videos.
find myself going back to this video often - it has something about it, amazing vibes
the Freeride with rocker concave is a great board for higher speeds and controlled slides!
@silver109rox standard is a good way to go if you are just starting out. The bearings are a bit slow which is good for beginners. If you want to go a bit faster then I suggest upgrading to the Bones Reds and you'll notice a significant difference.

@byBrendo hey, yes we do! Shipping to Australia costs $60
@rastafari88jah the Freeride with rocker concave would be a good board for you. Keep the trucks top mounted so you can carver easier. It has gas pedals and the deck is reversed camber, making sliding easy.

@PRSAllDay really flexy means easy to carve, and usually isn't too stable for higher speeds. A stiffer board will provide you with more stability.
We don't have a slalom style board but for high speed cruising check out our Freeride boards.
@thelife2618 Take a look at our Apex 40 double concave! It's great for cruising, carving, and is very durable for freestyle tricks. The double cc is also great for higher speeds and freeriding control.

Katharina Fiedler Thanks for the good word! Stoked that you are enjoying this stuff as much as we are! Much love.
@mikaelml007 the right set up, and the rider's comfort/experience on the boards is a huge factor.
@rosiepatosie342 if you are looking to stay under 25 mph then check out the pintail 40. If you want to go much faster then the freeride 38 with rocker concave would be a good board for you.
I watch your video EVERYDAY before i take a cruise down the Oregon mountains. Ride on brothers. Truly inspiring video guys!
i am in absolute AWE watching them skate!! it's intense and definitely enticing.
@Konarider37 the freeride 41 with rocker concave would be a great board for your height and weight, and will also making sliding easy!
@hsaawesome3 take a look at our Pintail 37 and Pintail 40! They're great beginner through advanced boards and they are good for cruising, carving, and smaller hills.
Super stoked for this series, it's about time!!
@12471monster check out the Pintail 40! It's a great cruising and carving board that can handle some smaller hills.
@kodie9000 make sure you tighten up your trucks a bit and also, start of small!! Controlling speed wobbles is just as much the rider as it is the set up. As for our boards, our Freeride series are our best boards for higher speeds and freeriding.

If you're looking for just cruising and some downhill then you may also want to check out our Freeride boards!
@iDEADLY68 the Pintail 40 would be a great cruiser for you. It's lower to the ground, and stable, making it great for transportation and just cruising around.
Check out our Pintail 43! It would be a great board for your height and weight, and is meant for cruising and carving
If you're new, I wouldn't spend too much right away. A kicktail longboard with a little concave and a little flex (maybe a 70's style), is really good to see what you want: longboarding could be for freeriding, downhill, cruising, etc.
Check out our Freeride boards! They come in two different sizes: 38" and 41" and you can get them in either rocker concave or w concave.
0:50 to 1:09 is hands down the most beautiful longboard footage I have ever seen.
@ldroptheworldl Apex 40 if you're planning on doing mostly freestyle, or the Freeride 41 rocker concave if you are looking to do more freeriding and hills
The Apex 37 for flat land freestyle, or the Apex 40 with rocker concave for freestyle and freeriding.
:D i can't wait! i am going to hawaii in 2 months! i am bringing my longboard and filming a hawaii session two! i am only thirteen and I'm not that good.
it was your PR. sessions that inspired me to longboard and i want to thank you for leading me to this awesome lifestyle
Check out the Apex 40 Av Rocker Concave. This board is very versatile and is great for freestyle tricks! -Lindsay
Check out our Pintail series. They're great cruiser boards and they come in 4 different sizes
Hey BIOYA lol
Finding a board to start out on really means finding out what kind of riding you want to do down the line.
You guys have the best camera crew. They capture amazing stuff.
@kmacuslegotacular check out the Apex 40 double concave! It's strong enough for freestyle riding and is also great for higher speeds and sliding.
@MetalheadSipo go with the rocker concave if you're looking to do mostly freestyle riding.
Hey mah,
Coming from a Pintail and looking to upgrade you might want to check out the Freeride 38 RockerConcave or (if you are doing hills) even the Drop Freeride 41. Either one of those will get you stepped up onto something that is ready for more agressive sliding / hill riding, without getting into the super expensive stuff.
i never really appreciate hawaii until i watch videos like this.
living in aloha :)
Every hill you go down you can let go of the world and be set free. Its an amazing feeling
@bobreapable2616 check out the Freeride 41 with rocker concave for stability during higher speeds and controlled slides.
This is just stunning! the longest and greatest 5:54 minutes in my life!
Hey, the 43 Pintail sounds good for you. If your looking for speeds over 25mph look into getting one of our Freeride boards.
@tiwini07 That is an incredibly complex answer.
The short one is, we focused on board development for two years.
@ThePandajimmyskate check out our Apex 34! It's great for cruising and carving around, as well as learning tricks since it's a symmetrical shaped, light weight board.
@LaWrEnZo181 the apex 34 is much lighter and it's 3 inches shorter so it will help you with learning freestyle for sure!
the Derringer is a great little commuter!! Plus, it's small enough to fit in your locker! -Lindsay
What kind of riding are you interested in doing? The Derringer is a super fun mini cruiser/carver. -Lindsay
