    You can pin the crank like they do on LS motors with super chargers, put the flywheel on bolt it up with the key in place, then use a drill to drill a hole between the crank and flywheel, use a steel rod in the hole and then peen the edge to hold it in, never move again, I’m glad you got her running though, now we can see you rip it

    Those GBC Gators on the back are definitely good snow tires, I bought a set of those in 26-in height on ITP C-Series rims for my 2003 Suzuki Eiger 400 4x4 after I got it stuck in some deep snow and had to leave it behind and have a coworker come help me pull it out of a field. Although I found out in non-snow conditions they were a very rough ride so I tended to only use them during the winter.

  • @daryleduardo7055
    @daryleduardo7055 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The key doesn't need to be strong at all all it does is align the flywheel correctly on the crankshaft. The amount of torque that you have on the flywheel nut squeezes the flywheel tight onto the crankshaft. The crankshaft is tapered and that's why it must be torqued to spec according to the service manual that you have. If not torqued to spec, or if anything is distorting the proper seating position of the flywheel to the crankshaft, it will shear the key.

    • @M.TTT.
      @M.TTT. 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean it still needs to be pretty strong shear strength.

    • @daryleduardo7055
      @daryleduardo7055 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @daryleduardo7055
      @daryleduardo7055 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Let me rephrase that the key should be weak because if the flywheel nut happens to come loose it shears the key you don't want a strong key there because it will ruin the crankshaft

    • @daryleduardo7055
      @daryleduardo7055 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like I said before the key is not designed to hold the flywheel from turning on the crankshaft it's only designed to "place" the flywheel in the correctly times position on the crankshaft

    • @daryleduardo7055
      @daryleduardo7055 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's no point in having a strong key besides if you did it will fuck up the crankshaft

    If my understanding is correct, the interface between the flywheel and crankshaft end is bot correct if you can simply pull the flywheel by hand after removing the nut. Your crankshaft end is tapered and the fitment between the crank and flywheel should be very precise and tight... you should have to hit the end of your crankshaft to shock the flywheel off. The key is for alignment purposes ONLY. It should bot be bearing the force of the crankshaft to the flywheel.

    You should get a fuel tank for a small engine, like a predator or briggs and use it as a testing fuel tank.

  • @eugenesbackyardrepair4593
    @eugenesbackyardrepair4593 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The backfire breaking key doesn't make much sense. Mine use to backfire like shot gun every time you let off throttle. But the lapping fly wheel to crank makes sense because key broke and spun on crank..

  • @ianallen2
    @ianallen2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well done getting it running.
    Can I sudgest, use a lawnmower or other small fuel tank suspended above the engine so you sont have to keep filling a pipe with fuel from a jug. It would only take a slip, or you cough and move the jug while pouring fuel and it can splash onto a hot exhaust and start a fire. Just thinking of the safety of it and you not getting burnt. If you watch Jennies Garage, he uses a tank suspended, Mustie 1 uses a bottle suspended. A tank with a good petcock and a pipe would be great suspended from a roof rafter or on a home made pole stand. :)
