actually the very first person to wear white to a wedding was Mary Queen of Scots when she was a teen marrying the French Dauphin before he died....sorry - I'm just a history nut....
Queen Victoria started the “white is bridal” trend because when she was a young woman wearing white was a symbol of elegance and wealth because it’s so hard to keep clean! Before that there was no real “bride” color, you just kind of got married in the nicest clothes you owned. If anything, blue meant “purity/virginity,” which is why the Christian Virgin Mary figure is almost always painted wearing blue.
Once upon a time, women would wear the color(s) that symbolized their hopes for the future, if they could afford it. If they couldn't, they'd just wear their church clothes. Single-use wedding dresses are a purely 20th-Century luxury.
She also wore white because the wedding took place in the day (unusual for royals then) and was a public event to restore popularity to the very unpopular monarchy, so it ensured she stood out to the crowds watching :)
I love Becky's floral hoops! She has my vote! The seating chart was gorgeous too though! I think paint on mirrors is hard to read so I didn't use any at my wedding.
I did my friends wedding from mostly the dollar store. I only bought two things from Hobby Lobby and I used the coupons for those items. Everyone was amazed. Thought we spent a lot of money. Her sisters took all of the centerpieces I made home for their decor afterwards. Lol.
This was really fun to watch. I'm getting married in 5 days and I made something similar to Becky's diy. Instead of three different sized hoops I made a mickey mouse head with embroidery hoops that I painted white and added fake flowers to hang on the wedding arch. I also got a cheap collage picture frame for the seating chart. I hope you guys are doing well and I hope you have a wonderful week.
I loved both projects and each would be a wonderful addition to any wedding. My vote is going with Kelsey's because it can be repurposed after the wedding for home decor. Great job, ladies!
Loved both of these so much. Both of them can be used as home decor too. I think kelsey’s would’ve made a gorgeous mirror art piece like on a shelf or something with plants around it! And Becky’s would look great above a chair or corner of a room that needed an extra something ☺️
I love it! The mirror project could be used as home deco. Instead of find your seat your family’s last name and welcome, mirrors are great with dry erase markers so very easy to write and rewrite notes on!
The wreath is so cute. I would of arranged the circles differently...I keep seeing Mickey Mouse/Disney. Queen Victoria was one of the first to wear a white wedding dress, if not the first notable person.
Love them both!! Such cute inspiration since I am planning my wedding rn! White came into wedding fashion because of Queen Victoria and stayed a trend since having a pure white gown back then was a clear indication of wealth. They were super expensive to make, and even more expensive to keep clean, often the dresses would end up passed down!!
Beautiful designs. Also for the mirror one, what you could do instead of writing with white, is find out what the wedding colors are besides white and use that color for writing. Of course, like she said, test the color first. D. Tree also has smaller mirrors that you can use a your "tester" mirror for colors.
YESSSSS! I’m getting married next month and we barely have a budget since we’re still on college so this is EXACTLY what I was looking for ❤️ thank you thank you thank you
The nicest part of it is that if you want to use it for decoration in your house, you just use the back side of the wooden sign from Becky or erase the text from the mirrors from Kelsey's idea. Very easy to recycle and make an object from your wedding as a (hopeful) nice remembering.
Both are extremely pretty however the mirror one is better ONLY BECAUSE there should have been more flowers on the rings. But I will be using both of these ideas in the next wedding I do. Great ideas girls
I LOVE BOTH ideas💖💖I will be Renewing my vows on our 5th wedding Anniversary and our 10th year together next July! So, Im going to Definatly use BOTH ideas in my special Day😀TYFS and God Bless🙏Congrats on ur wedding as well love💖
I LOVE the mirror idea!!! I might actually use this idea for my wedding coming up next year!!! You should do giveaways where you give away the projects you do! I am dying for that mirror!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
White for a bridal color is a class system dating back to the royals in England. A white gown shows wear and stains very easily, so the wealthy were wearing white gowns as a sign of their wealth and that their dress was disposable.
So much stuff of mine came from the dollar store and Michaels!(They always have 40-50% off coupons, grab a bunch of friends and make them each use one to get full use!) All my favours came from the Dollar Store, little bubble wands that I wrapped twine around and put custom heart stickers with our initials on the lids. Cost us $40 in total for everything needed for 120 favours!
Another cute cheap idea would be to dye coffee filters and do a backdrop. You could make them look like falling petals! Also have you guys ever thought of doing a video about those Anthropologie window/art displays? I used to work there, and they’re all DIY, you could do something really awesome with that!
hey guys! I was hoping if sometime you could make a diy vanity table either floating or for a small space. I really want one for my small room but don’t wnna buy an expensive one and also i’m curious to see what your take would be on if
It's q tie for me! Both are gorg and i will absolutely copy it for future events I will be coordinating 😊😊😊. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas
White for weddings was a trend started by a British queen (I don't remember which one) she wore a huge poofy white dress which sparked everyone to want to emulate her, thus it became a standard. Before that you got married in whatever color you felt like in most of the world. Some places also use black for brides or other colors, depending on their cultural significance.
Why is their dollar store so much cooler than any I've seen here!
Tigre Fuego because things aren’t actually $1 lol It’s called Dollarama and it goes upto $4
Their dollar store is so CLEAN AND KID FREE!!!
@@aartid5294 okay that explains it .
Exactly because mines don’t look like that
My dollar tree store looks like that but the family dollar just down the street from that looks like the ghettos.
Awesome. I loved both of these. White is bridal because of Queen Victoria and her wedding dress. Trend setter right there.
Maddie Briggs I was about to write this very thing.
actually the very first person to wear white to a wedding was Mary Queen of Scots when she was a teen marrying the French Dauphin before he died....sorry - I'm just a history nut....
I want to wear a black wedding dress when i get married.
Glad she didnt choose a brown or moss green dress haha
Maddie Briggs I knew she started the trend of tiered wedding cakes but not about white dresses.
Ding ding ding! Finally a comment that is correct!!
Good to know, thanks 😀
I was wondering if someone was gonna say it so I wouldn't have to
Once upon a time, women would wear the color(s) that symbolized their hopes for the future, if they could afford it. If they couldn't, they'd just wear their church clothes. Single-use wedding dresses are a purely 20th-Century luxury.

You should do an IKEA challenge for your wedding series! I feel like there's so many cheap/interesting things you can use to DIY stuff 😊
Can you do a Mother’s Day diy and Father’s Day diy from the dollar store?
Kristina 1411 YAAASSSSS
I want to make Becky’s diy so bad. Flowers are gorgeous
i love how you guys are super budget friendly!! makes it super easy to decorate!
Lol.
I have to do some centerpieces too. I would love to see yours.
This was really fun to watch. I'm getting married in 5 days and I made something similar to Becky's diy. Lovely centre piece for a head table ucaliptus is always elegant in wedding
Both set the stage on fire, but I gotta give this one to Becky.
Both ideas were so good. I can’t choose a winner.
Holy cow. Forget about weddings, that mirror thing would be gorgeous for any kind of dinner/celebration. Awesome idea!
I loved both ideas! I would say Becky won only because it’s something I could see myself still using as decor in my home.
I love it! The mirror project could be used as home deco. Instead of find your seat your family’s last name and welcome, mirrors are great with dry erase markers so very easy to write and rewrite notes on!
I love the mirror for to do lists, and calendar type stuff in an office or a mud room for people with kids!
Becky seems so much more comfortable and confident than before, love it!
I think Becky wins this one. I'm way too distracted by the reflection for the seating chart.
Make a no plastic allowed diy 😍
These are both sooo cute! And both ideas could work really cute together at the same wedding!
Guuuuuurls!
Im getting married this 19 and this week is soooooo welcome AND just in time
That is the cleanest dollar tree store I’ve ever seen...
The wreath is so cute. I would of arranged the circles differently...I keep seeing Mickey Mouse/Disney. Queen Victoria was one of the first to wear a white wedding dress, if not the first notable person.
DIY GAME ON POINT!! Loe them both, super creative, Becky's blew me away with how simple, creative, and gorgeous it turned out.
I really loved Beckys DIY, but then Kelsey started and I don't know why but it looks so extra to me! So cool, both ideas are cute and amazing!
I love the wire flower decoration. Kind of looks like a Mickey Mouse head. Would be lovely at a Disney wedding/shower :)
If you live in Toronto I feel like the dollar store at Yonge and bloor is magical
Love both of them.....I declare they are equally as beautiful
That little Christmas tree looking stand could also be made into a SUPER CUTE cupcake stand!!!!
I'm getting married in a few weeks and I have no idea what kind of things I want to do, but you just gave me a BUNCH of ideas ❤️❤️
These were gorgeous! Shout out to Becky for being inclusive
and i love the ‚cheap to fab‘ vibe
I like them both so much the rings are beautiful but the seating chart is so cool.
Beautiful designs.
Also for the mirror one, what you could do instead of writing with white, is find out what the wedding colors are besides white and use that color for writing. Of course, like she said, test the color first. D. Tree also has smaller mirrors that you can use a your "tester" mirror for colors.
They are both awesome. I love the flower rings because of the dogwood flowers.
I like that Becky's could be repurposed as home decor after the wedding😊
I like both!! But for my wedding, I would use the mirror seating chart!
“cause there’s lots of virgins lol” 😂 these are both such great ideas, so pumped for wedding week! I’m planning my wedding so this is v helpful 🌿
YESSSSS! I’m getting married next month and we barely have a budget since we’re still on college so this is EXACTLY what I was looking for ❤️ thank you thank you thank you

Best dollar store challenge you've ever done in my opinion!!! 😍😍
This is the first time I actually CANNOT choose one, usually one just isn't my style or useful to me but both of these are gorgeous!
My sisters are getting married this August and next June and I’m excited to share these with them
OMG!! I use a lot of Dollar Store items to make wedding decor on my channel as well. Nothing like saving money. Thanks for sharing :)
The nicest part of it is that if you want to use it for decoration in your house, you just use the back side of the wooden sign from Becky or erase the text from the mirrors from Kelsey's idea. Very easy to recycle and make an object from your wedding as a (hopeful) nice remembering.
Gahhh! I’m getting married next month and I’m so dang excited for this week!! How perfect

It's so hard when both of them is beautiful.

That seating plan DIY is so gorgeous
White for a bridal color is a class system dating back to the royals in England. A white gown shows wear and stains very easily, so the wealthy were wearing white gowns as a sign of their wealth and that their dress was disposable.
As single as you can get but I love wedding week everything is so dreamy 😍
Love, love, love Becky's... but probably would just use some nice copper-colored wire from the beginning to create the circles 😀
I frigen 💖💖 these!!! They both are so great! You two are creative and what you make isn’t fussy. I love it
That eucalyptus is so nice! Especially for being in the dollar sore. I wish I could find some for that cheap!
Honestly I’m having a hard time choosing because both your creations are fantastic loved them both
I would have to vote a "TIE". They both came out beautiful.
Another cute cheap idea would be to dye coffee filters and do a backdrop. You could make them look like falling petals!
