This song is unbelievably on point with respect to my life. I was an addict, have since kicked it, went to seminary, was ordained a Deacon, and my family still refuses to let go. I've needed their help recently due to disability, but just had an 8 hour surgery last week that will allow me to go "where no one knows my name," which I've already established as my destination following my surgical recovery in a year or so. Christians need to understand the devastating effects that substances leave behind for those of us stricken by addiction and usually left alone to battle daily with no support, plus ongoing spiritual warfare. It's time to break the cycle of unforgiveness and start a new family chapter, hopefully for many more than just mine

When I’m there myself, which is more often than I’d like to admit, I find if I can just keep my gaze on God and just put one foot in front of the other, eventually I’m miles away from the dark places I once dreaded.
