    What a great opportunity to get to hang out in the closest thing to "tractor heaven" at Tim and Christy's house! While it was a very long day, Tim and Christy were both wonderful and kind hosts. Having spent around 15 hours at their home with them on this day, I can say they are exactly the same off camera as they are on camera. Thanks again, Tim and Christy, for this opportunity!

      Kirk, how did using the Summit kit work with your hydraulic mower lift? I just received my Summit 4 spool kit and will be installing on a new 1025R I have on order. I ordered the 4 spool kit because, like you, I would like to have my mower lift on one of the Summit circuits. When I looked into ordering the Hydraulic Lift kit I noticed there is only ONE hose and port on the hydraulic cylinder. I called Summit and talked to a tech about that, asking how does the fluid return to the tank when the mower lowers. We came to the conclusion that the Summit system won’t allow the mower to lower. Can you shed some light on this since you have the hydraulic lift? Thanks, Steve

    As someone that did hydraulic assembly for 30+ years, I have a couple of suggestions. First, when assembling fittings and screws into an aluminum block, all torque specs should be 1/2 of the specs for installing on a steel block. Second, when assembling fittings, it is best to apply a light film of hydraulic oil or grease to the o-ring. Dry assembly of the parts can tear the o-ring.

    • @kirkbrinkley6990
      @kirkbrinkley6990 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Russ, everything in the kit from Summit that contacts hydraulic fluid came "pre-oiled". This includes the o-rings, the electric valves, and the aluminum block. The Deere power beyond kit, however did not. One of the steps in that kit mentioned oiling the o-rings before installation.

    Ordered a three valve setup from summit. Got it and two of the three solenoids were damaged where the electrical connection attaches to the valve unit. Emailed summit on Sunday with photos. Got an email Monday saying that the replacement solenoids were in the mail. Now that is 5 star service. The assembly was strait forward and the unit went together with no leaks. I just need a third hand. Its really a well engineered assembly. Even without the excellent customer service I would give them 5 stars for design and functionality.

    My 4720 (purchased used with 200 hours on it) came from the factory with 3 rear remotes. One is plumbed to a secondary lever, just inboard of the rocker shaft lever, but I still haven't figured out how the others are plumbed, or what operates them. There aren't any other controls besides the bucket, loader, rocker shaft and that smaller lever. I'm guessing the other two can be used if I take the FEL off and use the loader/bucket control for them. Right now, all I need is a top link cylinder and a pair of hoses.
    Great video, Tim! I always learn new stuff with each video.

    FYI: there is a wiring harness for the cigarette lighter that comes up the back right fender and goes underneath the black upper plastic moulding. It provides power to the 12V plug and is on a 15A fuse. That is easy to tap into for power without the hassle of running to the fuse box. There isnt a great path to the fuse box that will ensure that your wire gets there and will absolutely never get caught in a shaft without taking stuff apart or putting holes in the frame for zip clips. Its far easier to tap into power at this harness. In fact i wish that the kit came with a plug extension that would tap off the harness so there is no messing with making connections

    Tim, if you don't already know about them, there is a product out there called "HydraGrip" and essentially what it does is gives you an actual "handle" to grab your hydraulic hoses and make plugging them into the couplers easier, and a good bit less messy. I have one pair, and I'm about to order more. They come in all sorts of different colors and combinations, too. I thought about that when you were talking about the dust cap colors.

    Tim, the best way to start a bolt into any treaded hole is to just put the bolt into the UNTHREADED portion and let it go all the way in until it contacts the threaded part of the assembly. Now, put very light pressure downward on the bolt. Then, slowly rotate the bolt BACKWARDS until you feel a slight click. This indicates that the starting ends of the threads are in alignment and ready to screw it down. You will never cross thread if you follow this system!!!

    I suggest putting a little bit of tire chalk on the bolts going into the aluminum manifold. Helps keeping the aluminum threads from possibly gauling up. I just installed a third function with 1 rear remote from summit, on a Bx23s. This video was done 2 years ago and Tim said the instructions were not very good. He’s correct. The instructions are horrible. They obviously hadn’t updated them. I had to call summit multiple times to get clarification. The kit came in without any labels on the fittings. The bolts for the mounting bracket to the rops were way too long and was unusable, I had to buy shorter bolts. The locations to route hoses were tight and they make it seem like these hoses are flexible, but they’re not. The install took very long. It’s working without problems now, but I’d pay summit to install this kit next time. Just to have them see their instructions and some materials needs updating.

    Hello Tim. I just installed the kit on a 3320 and I’d like to share my thoughts. First thing, good option for rear hydraulics off the power beyond. That said just a couple of observations, a few hiccups, and one real complaint. Let me first say, you’re video is a must see for the novice before attempting. I was a Millright at the power plant in my past life, so I was fine, but I can see how the enclosed directions are lacking. Secondly, I understand the kit isn’t model specific, That would be just too expensive and therefore not feasible. Based on that I had to call Summit prior to ordering for clarification. The ROPS isn’t 2 or 3 inches, it’s rectangular, 2x3. Customer service said “ just get the 3 inch one ,” so I did. Nothing fit. Bolts supplied are too long. Ok, I bought new bolts. At the same time the slot spacing is too short. How can both of those things happen? Ok well I drilled out the plates and made them work. I’ll also have to buy a few hydraulic fittings for my particular application, to be expected and nothing too bad yet. Now for my real complaint. The only bracket that’s any good at all is the one the unit bolts to. All other brackets and plates aren’t heavy enough. Backer plates all bent when tightening on the ROPS. I’ll live with that also. Here’s the one piece that isn’t going to work at all. The mount for the controller is just too flimsy. You really need to change that to something more stout. It flexes back and forth all day during operation. The worst is it whips back and forth in the wind when trailering. So bad I had to stop and take it off. Please upgrade that part. If you were to send me an upgraded part that was much sturdier, that would be great, but if not I’ll just have to make something myself. I’m a huge fan and love everything you do, and thank you again for taking the time, with Summit Hydraulics, to come up with this solution. Joe.

    I am confusion. Does the power beyond kit allow one to utilize hydraulic implements? Specifically a hydraulic top link. Or is the rear hydraulic diverter valve necessary to allow one to have control over the pressure/flow running through those two hoses provided by the power beyond kit?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Power beyond allows the oil to flow. The summit kit (shown in earlier episode) allows the ‘control’ of that oil, and the connection to implements.

      Yep. You can use the backhoe connections. That is a ‘power beyond’. You can also connect the backhoe at the same time by connecting it ‘in series’ with the summit EVK or FR kit.

  • @gregjames666

    You can easily make up your own rear remotes if you already have the rear hydraulics for a backhoe. I have the 2305, the hydraulics for the backhoe don't have any controls. But for 100 bucks i bought a open valve and some hoses. I just have to disconnect the valve when i want to use the backhoe.

      @TractorTimewithTim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Careful. Most monoblock valves do not support backpressure on the T port. The Deere power Beyond has pressure on the T port when the 3 point is operated. So, even though it works now, it likely won’t work for long unless you found a specific valve which DOES support up to 3000 psi on the T port.

    Does this kit work TOGETHER with a backhoe? For example, I need to have working backhoe and a thumb in the back, and third function in the front. Where backhoe must be connected in this configuration (since it has to be disconnected from the power beyond)? Do I connect it into the one pair of new ports? I am confused how it will work with the electrical valve controlling those ports.

    Hey Tim and Christy, great instructional video as always! Been looking at putting this on my 2020 2025r with factory cab. Was looking to add third function loader, also hook a cylinder up to the deflector on my blower and have remote for rear hydraulics. keep reading that power beyond is not compatible with factory cab. Wondering if you knew the reasoning behind that? Was thinking they say it can't be done because you can't put a backhoe on with the factory cab.
    Looks like it's possible to me ( although a huge pain), especially if one uses the power beyond kit from summit that uses hoses rather than hard lines. I understand that I would have to do some modifications on bracket placement for both power beyond and rear scv, think they cold be mounted on bar across back of cab under window. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for all the videos!

    Tim, on the rear hydraulics kit, the slots in the valve plate and the switch plate are not built correctly, because the shim plates are designed as short as possible and don't also have a slot. As the ROPS is slanted, the plates can't mount level. I'll either need to drill the holes into slots, or make longer shim plates, with a slot on one end.

    • @jonpence1586
      @jonpence1586 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim, I was thinking the slots in the plates were for adjustment, but I guess they are for the 2" or 3" rops sizing. Although I have the 2" rops, I'm trying to order the 3" shims, which will allow me to mount the plate level, while the rops is sloped. I noticed in the video that the valves were angled just like the rops and realized you designed them to fit snugly following that angle, and the slots were not intended for an adjustment function. When I get my larger shims I'll send you the finished project.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. First, I would never suggest bred locktite. That is the ‘never gonna come out’ version, right? You may have a valve failure at some point and would need to replace.
      Second, the leakage would not be related to the screws loosening. Rather, it would be a poor seal around those o-rings.
      I think the likelihood of leaks is low. The only ones I had were user error (my error) as it turns out!
