this world cup will give Qatar idea what type of place people love to visit. Imo middle east have such an authentic traditional building, they need to build more of them
There are so few Westerners among the crowd. I was told that they were all over. Looks like only South Asian, Arab and Middle Easterns showed up. A lot of these places are newly built shopping strips, centers, etc. that have not been established. Very manufactured. Looks like Vegas where an influx of people flowing in and out with no spirit. I want to see the real Qatar.
I have seen many Westerners tho, I live in Qatar.. the worldcup is almost over & their journey in Qatar to support their teams has ended they went back to their country. there was a lot of spirit with peaceful vibes + they are not all in Souq Waqif
Qatar has the most attendees in world cup history in the group stage.. Now its the final stage so only Argentina and France fans are around. And souq waqif if I'm not mistaken was a Persian souq.. So it's definitely old and authentic even though I know most of the buildings are new.. But at least it has unique Miiddle Eastern architecture. If you want more of middle east I'd say go to the Levant region like old Amman, as salt in Jordan or Lebanon, or the Holyland. Or you can go to Iran
who cares if there were westerners or not ? and why is this a scale or indicator of a successful World Cup ? the world doesn't revolve around us nor anyone else ! I was in Qatar and that place is heaven and there are lots of us there. very clean well developed. most importantly very safe which isn't something common in Europe nowadays unfortunately nor in the USA and that's for sure.
