I've definitely noticed that buying old toys is way cheaper in Japan. Mandarake is a good place to look too, although it can be a bit annoying that they have a load of different stores all over the country and cant combine orders.
mandarake is IMO the best choise all-around. now, if only they managed to reinstate somethin else but those highway bandits of shipping that are DHL for where I am...
@@serPomiz there's really nothing Mandarake can do about that, its on the shipping companies to choose to resume normal operations departing from Japan (whereas DHL just.... never stopped, I think).
At least Ive never had any problems with DHL from Japan to Australia (I understand they are a lot worse to other parts of the world), because literally no one else is shipping here from Japan AT ALL. And DHL refuses to ship batteries, which means anything with batteries in it just functionally cant be imported right now.
@@Magmafrost13 they are quick and gets everywherewith rarelly any damage, but they do all of the calculation for the added taxing and handling cost OVER the full package and shipping rather than over the shipping alone as they are supposed to.by import law
there is nothing really illegal goin there, and I understeand the rules of the market, but hell if their adding an extra third of expenses isn't moral banckruptcy...
It's so cool that you got longhaul because I found my "hunt for the decepticons" longhaul the other day and I still love it. I'm also surprised that it's still in one piece since it's at least 10 years old
Same, back in 2018 I got the same Japanese exclusive lock down. I got it by going to Japan btw, it had the green faceplate thing in him without the gun face but it came with a hook and sword/rifle thing. Japan as a whole I loved, as much as I poke fun at Anime and all the weeb "Kawaii" stuff it's actually pretty cool. I remember a whole building over in Tokyo of that stuff. Sorry if I'm going on a tangent here
@@Tavemanic nah its cool. I would like to go to Japan one day but only because they have actual shops for pokemon stuff. I don't much care for all the anime and things like that
I would love to have gotten a green faceplate lockdown because most of his age of extinction toys use concept art for the face design which doesn't match the film. Same goes for prime, he has a similar overall design but his film look doesn't match his concept art. I only got two lockdown figures (that I still have) which are the one step changer which has the green faceplate so no concept art face and my tiny construct-bots one which somehow has a more film accurate face (but the altmode sucks)
The kabaya kit is based on the cyber battalion figures, not the authentics. CB was the predecessor to authentics.

My favorite Japanese figure that I've owned is probably the flying seekers aces version of classics starscream, it's beautiful with the metallic in the right places unlike the Henkei
Oddball, miscellaneous cheapo Transformers merch is some of my favourite stuff to collect; the Japanese merch especially - good to see it getting some love.

So about the golden weapons from Japan: they’ve been doing this sort of stuff for a while now. I’ve got 6 different gold, silver, and black dotm mech tech weapons from Japan still mint in their baggies.

As a Sentai fan, buyee is a true mvp. You can by an entire years worth of sentai robots for the price of buying just one of them brand new. Gotta love Japanese parents selling their kid’s shit. You’re probably doubling the price when it comes time to ship, but even then it’s still a phenomenal price.

When you buy from buyee do you have to have a middle man warehouse or do they just send straight to you?
Sometimes an item can be shipped directly to you, it varies. But its so ludicrously expensive that ,if you're buying a bunch of stuff, it still makes more sense to just send it to their warehouse and consolidate all your purchases into one package.

If your smart and patience on buyee you can find a lot of unircron trilogy or movie figures for good prices. You can try to luck at the auctions but if you want something direct merci is a put it in the cart and ship it and still has figures for good prices

Prices are in Yen & shipping can be pricey. Basically a good site w/ excellent customer service. Though I wasn't allowed to use the coupons for some strange reason.

How do you deal with Mandarake having a shitload of different stores and being unable to consolidate packages between them though? Ive never been able to get an even halfway-reasonable shipping estimate out of Mandarake as a result, because multiple things I want being in one store just never happens
@@Magmafrost13 Welp you either need to get lucky so that all the items you want are in one store or contact them if it would be possible to combine store orders, either that or use some proxy service but i dont like those

@@Magmafrost13 JESUS how much did you buy?! Usually shipping charges don't go over $20 or $30 (perhaps $50 for a combiner or Titan Class toy) and consolidating can either keep it low or make it WAY higher depending on the total weight cause anything over a kilogram is asking for trouble.
@@Zeggladore 10 things, not a single thing I ordered had an individual shipping cost of under $50, and some of those were deluxe figures. None of them would be packaged as big as a titan. That's what I get for committing the unforgivable crime of living in Australia, apparently.
@@Magmafrost13 Yeah no, 10 things is a crapton. I made the same mistake when I first used it but if you buy too much and consolidate it all into one package bit enough to hold everything, that thing's gonna weigh a ton and absolutely gauge you for shipping charges.
@@Zeggladore they gouge me on shipping for individual items anyway so what's the difference? It wouldve cost more than $500 to ship them all individually, and its not like they'll let me trial-and-error different consolidation combinations to see what's cheapest. And frankly I dont see myself using the service again, with these shipping prices its not actually saving me any money.
