Catfish-Bank Fishing below the Dam on the Wateree River, South Carolina!

- In this video you will see me bank fishing for catfish below the Wateree Dam on the River in South Carolina.
To be clear: It has been a rough couple weeks fishing the lakes in South Carolina. I decided to give the river a try and set up on the river bank about 200 yards below the Wateree Dam. The water is ever changing depending on whether the dam is open or closed. Due to the water conditions I decided to use a Santee rig, 8/0 big cat circle hook, and chicken with kool-aid.
With that, here's what you will see in this video.
First, I utilized my B roll with Google Earth Studio and After Effects to edit and create this video. I frequent these spots regularly so if you see me out fishing, please say hello!

When I saw your video was at that location I had to watch. I have been there twice this month. Nothing has changed. People will walk right up to your spot and try to fish. I use 6 ounce weight so I don't drift into other people.
Yeah it gets annoying! Especially since I don’t fish off the platform right below the dam and try to get away from everyone. To much negativity at times with everyone’s effort to be competitive. I just love to fish. I also love meeting new people but it’s tough to find good people in hot spots like this. Everyone feels like they own it in some way or can critique everyone’s setups. I don’t have time for all of that. I like to let everyone figure it out for themselves unless they ask or I see something I can politely/respectfully help out on.

It just depends man. Sometimes especially at this location they can be a nuisance because they are all over the place. I am mainly just out to catch trophy size catfish so it gets annoying getting your bait stolen or moved especially when it’s already a nightmare below the dam getting your bait in a good location.

Check out my video of my 4 favorite bank fishing spots on Lake Wateree. I believe it is number 4 Wateree dam. Instead of walking to the cement platform I just find a spot on the bank off the parking lot below the dam.

Yes sir! Bait Runners have been around for a while. Penn and a lot of companies use them originally designed for live bait. In my experience most catfish anglers don't take enough time to let the catfish set itself especially while using circle hooks. So, I am a big fan of my Penn Conflict II but maybe one day ill venture to another style. It's all second nature to me now.
