I post the same comment on my favorite tracks of cocteau twins on youtube … 37 … i cross my fingers for the right person to read this one day … Cocteau twins is a reminder of the best years of my life … in london many many years ago … my first day as a salesman in a shop in london on camden high street … i'm french … she's from sweden … i can barely speak english … she's amazingly beautiful … i pop in the shop to start my shift and this music is playing … then i feel shivers all over my body blushing red facing her amazing beauty and thought : "what on earth is this music !!!" … since then but even more after i left london i can't sleep without some cocteau twins … her name is merrethe she was, she is & will be a friend for ever !!! I miss you Merrethe my dear friend … Amazing work for the vid by the way …
I'm on the cusp of 50 and a lifelong fan of this band, Liz and This Mortal Coil. Never watched Twin Peaks until 2 months ago but this edit made me buy the entire box set. Loved it. Never tried coke until i was 40, loved that for a short while too. This is better
I have had over 40+ years of super-fandom for the Cocteaux', so what that means is I've heard every possible remix, mash-up, and viewed every fan-made video. However, this little video was a delightful surprise to me, when I'll sometimes let TH-cam select Cocteau Twins music while I'm working and this video just popped up on the screen. There are hidden gems all over the place, so as anybody can attest, these discoveries are one of grand elation. People don't realize Robin still releases fan-made music through tribute albums of various sorts, but I speak with Simon, who is considering a special release of fanmade video montage collection. Dark&Light JCS TV ― I will be submitting your video for Robin and Simon to review for consideration, because this is absolutely mesmerizing work. Elizabeth really hated making music videos, just because she's so shy and intimidated concerning her own negative self-image, plus a big fear of ridiculing. No one is harder to please Elizabeth, more than Elizabeth about herself. One of the benefits of having been a devotee for so long, is that I own everything, plus some bonus material; yet, I'm still astonished to learn people know so little about Elizabeth, Robin, and Simon. I tell people to simply ask questions to those who people who've been listening the longest, so in my case its been since 1982. When the Internet started, Leesa Beals built the first Official Cocteau Twins Website, organized CocteauFest (an event that happens every two years in different cities around the globe), and began the first 'Cocteau Twins Forum' (call it the first version of Discord), where 37 people communicated, but discussions were moderated and often attended by either Elizabeth, Robin, or Simon. Leesa even acted as the bands impromptu secretary and schedule organizer of events, because all three members were not very attentive over those things, because the work took all their focus and attention ― In a sense, they very much lived in their own world. It still warms my ❤ heart, to read from so many people of different generations, who've taken the Cocteaux' into themselves and continued their relevance. I knew that someday another generation would rediscover their intoxicating sound, but let me express, Elizabeth did indeed coin the term "Dream-pop" and not Alex Ayuli of the one hit wonder from AR Cane. It's a very long story, but Elizabeth used the term, five years before Alex repeated herself.
La primera parte del video me recuerda a "el Bosco" un pintor, que buena forma de mezclar el sonido y lo visual, amo Cocteau twins un día quiero conocer a Elizabeth Fraser
According to Simon that's Elizabeth playing the harpsichord. The only music she wrote for the band's records, other than pieces she wrote for the scrapped final album.
"Beatrix" Every week, move is small When he cared, when he did love When he knew, when he'd fall I hear she'd fall, ha, she fell Hear she'd fall, ha, she fell Every week, move is small When he cared, when he did love When he knew, when he'd fall I hear she'd fall, ha, she fell Hear she'd fall, ha, she fell Every week, move is small When he cared, when he did love When he knew, when he'd fall I hear she'd fall, ha, she fell Hear she'd fall, ha, she fell Fallen on, fallen on, fallen on, do we? @@grinsko6741 Actually, the members of the original "Cocteau Forum" had worked out the lyrics in the 90's. There were 37 of us, but our obsession kept us busy for quite a while, way before any lyrics websites existed. If you're very lucky to find a complete Japanese vinyl of the Treasure album, with the red obie on the outside cover, Elizabeth allowed the lyrics to be printed on the back 2 pages of the vinyl's leaflet insert. That obie will read in Japanese calligraphy, "The Woman, Whom God Had Loved".
@@isathebell Elizabeth didn't sing like this on purpose because of Robin Guthrie, even if he was a jackass to her. When anybody understands how she sings, then you'll hear the lyrics very clearly, but Elizabeth suffers from a rare condition called Psychogenic Dysphonia. it's when the brain can't communicate with the tongue to enunciate words properly, but it's usually brought on by Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) which she explains in interviews, but everything is in the lyrics of the Four Calendar Café album.
@@spinglasshydra didn"t have a clue about that. I wrote what I read on another interview, and she said she would decide when it was time for people to understand her lyrics. Thanks for your interesting data. Fortunately there are lyrics I can understand perfectly so I can sing them in the shower. I would never dare to sing her songs anywhere else 🥰
I think we can safely assume those are NOT the correct lyrics - I don't know what I'm hearing but I know what I'm not hearing (I could unpick it, in "that word doesn't have a sh in it" fashion, but what's the point?)
Might be my favourite Cocteau Twins song. It's absolutely bewitching and unlike anything else.
Truly timeless.
This brilliant song is from the album "Treasure", where each song compliments the song that comes next. Masterpiece.
This song has some serious dark energy always send chills down my spine at the beginning.
eu concordo com você
It's very plutonian.
The baseline is so unique and gorgeous. Haunting. Relentless.
*bassline. Darn autocorrect...
I was named after this song ❤ I was scared of it when I was little but of course I have learned to love it
That is such an honour, Beatrix!
Their most beautiful song 🥰 but yes, it's tense all the time and that can be scary for a child =)
When that bass kicks in... Strap in!
What a bassline
Astonishing. Such a cadence. Cadence and a hint of decadence too.
This song seems like being sent from a parallel universe with an alternate timeline
Could be said of all their music!
you cant get there from here
Utter magnificence. Truly sublime. I miss The Cocteau Twins so much, but what a body of work they bestowed upon us.

I have seen your posts!!
Interesting how you say you ARE French yet she is FROM Sweden...
Do you guys are still in touch? Or you are trying to find her ?💖
Meaning, you could change her, where she is FROM to where you ARE
The fact that this precedes Persephone on the album is almost too much for my ears and heart 🖤... What a feeling
I love this song so much.
samee
It is the voice of heaven.... the best of CT from the best album. Perfect like sun or water.
Love this semi medieval cut !
One of the great moment in music

hermoso haber nacido en aquello años y haberla podido disfrutar❤. amo está de los cocteau únicamente por su oscuridad envolvente.
So hypnotising
That was quite an experience. Beautiful.
They are enchanting, to be sure. Romantic, Mystic, Celtic Chic!
And Gothic in the truest sense of the word!
THIS video will always remind off my brother RIP
Bless. What a superb way to remember him, Andrew.
I hear humanity wrestling with it's self and the divine
I hear the same.
So well put!
This is beautiful - I've been a fan of Liz and co since 1984 … many thanks for this visual
Astonishing combination of music and visuals.

Weird and great video
I love it.
This should be used as a track for when a hapless(and curious) mortal human enters the dark palace of an infernal deity...invited of course!😈
BEST! EVER!

This one of my favorite Cocteau Twins songs but is anyone else getting Salvador Dali vibes from the artistry in this video?
AWESOME VIDEO!

Not that any of us had a clue of what she was singing in the days before Lyrics Websites!
@@grinsko6741 right...something tells me she sang like that to hide the problems she had in her marriage...but don't pay attention to me =)

Cool
It sounds almost Tudor to me. Like they’re playing the virginals or something. Beautiful. Takes you away from this era anyway.
It is a soundtrack to a nursery rhyme or fairytale.
Relax 👍👍👍
This video is masterpiece.

Girl looks like the actress who played Astor on Dexter.
Yeah! She does look like her.
The utterly magnificent and unique Liz Fraser. Check out her work oink the Lord of the Rings soundtrack if you liked this!
It reminds me Kate Bush
Definitely very Kate-like - and that's one of the highest compliments any musician can be paid.
