I love the sky, and I love the color.

I’ve lived in the Phoenix area (18 miles southeast of Sky Harbor airport) since moving from NYC in 2011. Love it here, fairly affordable still and a 5 hour drive to Vegas, San Diego, LA to get away for the weekend.

Jose, which city would be more interesting for a Midwestern state person to visit...Phoenix or Fort Lauderdale?

For sure Fort Lauderdale. Phoenix is a very clean and orderly city. The vegetation and atmosphere will shock you in both places.. nothing like the Midwest! stay in las Olas for Fort Lauderdale and Scottsdale for Phoenix. Hard to beat Florida beaches but the dessert is cool to. If you do Arizona ride down to tucson, go thru the dessert. like the backroads not the highway. both sound like a solid plan. Florida is tropical and arizona desert so both will be a cool change of scenery.

Very short skyline 😆 think their tallest is 44 stories. Phoenix needs to level up!

It's hard to keep high rises cool in the heat. It's not cost effective. That's why we have no skyline. There's like a 90 day period in the summer where it's above 105 degrees every day.

@@kristawelch3821 that is true. But there are other cities in hot climates that build tall still. Austin where I live often has three months every summer where the daily average is over 100 with humidity! And right now they're building a supertall with another planned that's even taller! Not to mention probably a dozen understand construction that are all taller than phoenix's tallest.

@Genny Gang Austin is not Phoenix, especially downtown. Not even close. There is absolutely a difference.

@@kristawelch3821 my family lives in Tucson which is similarly hot to Phoenix. I would argue that Austin feels even hotter during the summer months because it's 40-50% humidity on TOP of over 100 every day. Phoenix is a desert and has a more tolerable dry heat, especially in the mornings and evenings where it's STILL HOT in Austin. So no. I don't buy that argument too much. They're building mostly glass towers here too in this hot climate.

Phoenix has TWO separate downtowns with Skylines. I wouldn't say Phoenix skyline is anywhere near Texas cities like Austin, Houston or Dallas BUT if you come here to visit often enough, it's quite impressive. Phoenix should have a skyline comparable to Las Vegas but it's more like San Antonio, even though it's less impressive than Phoenix. Somehow it's more vibrant than San Antonio but simultaneously less impressive than Las Vegas. Maybe Phoenix should strive for San Diego style (or level) of architecture?
