    I’m so glad I discovered Jane when I did. She speaks more to no other time in life than the time after or a little before graduating high school to starting college. It’s the crucial time she tries to capture in her use of ever tense. The somber nostalgia found in the past mixed with the fearful yet hopeful anticipation of the future is so relatable.
    She’ll always be my favorite artist hands down, it speaks to me so much

    I love Jane remover, I knew about her briefly under her old moniker back in 2021 n 22 during the pandemic and I honestly overlooked her music and listened to other hyperpop or digicore artists. BUT- I just graduated high school and throughout 2024 I’ve fallen in love with Jane more than any other digicore artist, I saw her live with quannnic back in February and it was an amazing show, search party was one of the first songs I learned on guitar and after I saw census designated live I decided to go listen to frailty all the way through and I’ve been replaying it since over and over because each track has so many unique segments, movies for guys was just the tip of the iceberg (as back in 2022 that was like the only track I listened to of Jane sadly) and I don’t think any song will make me feel as free and blissful ⋆ ₊ ゚ as the first two minutes of Kodak moment- ever. ❤Thanks for making this it’s funny because I got here just by looking for more Jane guitar tutorials ˙Ꙫ˙ everything is coming full circle teehee
    I hope Jane tours again soon ✰

    the section about jane's early work is incredibly misinformed, her first online alias was in 2017, when she made future garage and vaportrap under the name h8p8ge, she spent 2018 and 2019 making meme rap as lilnedbigby, where she met future collaborators such as tropes (fka lil phlegm) and heartstopmiami (fka lil nesley), throughout all of that she continued her work as h8p8ge and began making type beats and noise music under the name dltzk. some time in 2019, she started a side project called high zoey, where she originally posted basic trap music but eventually developed into digicore in early 2020. mid 2020 she merged high zoey and dltzk,into the project that eventually became jane remover

    • @ethaaaaaaaaan
      @ethaaaaaaaaan  ปีที่แล้ว +22

      my overview of jane's early output may be minimal, but i would not say it's "incredibly misinformed". i intentionally omitted the lilnedbigby alias because jane has made it clear she does not stand behind the output under that name and wishes to be associated with it as little as possible-what good do you think my mentioning a meme rap alias of hers would do in this video? this video is a combination of two essays *not* chiefly about jane herself-the goal here was to try to pin down what makes her music so special to so many-so her early work ended up getting generalized because that information is not pertinent to the points i'm making. all my sources are cited at the links in the description.

    after watching this video i began to think abt artists that use this way of writing and embeding lyrics into music in the past tense and quannnic came to mind. i had always thought quannnic and jane had similar sounds but now i realize that its not just the musical aspect that are similar but they way the lyrics are written. (btw life imitates life by quannnic is rly good)

    On your point about the past and tenses I think the past tense has the best songs on average, not just because of nostalgia being such a complex feeling to dive into (examples include 1979, Lost In Yesterday and Summer Of ‘69), but also because the past tense is the best tense for storytelling. Most books are in past tense for a reason, and those that don’t can be long enough to let time pass in the narrative, which songs can’t usually have due to audience retention. This means most great storytelling songs and albums like the ones you mentioned utilize the past tense. Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble, I just liked your point on the tenses songs use and why they use it.

    • @ethaaaaaaaaan
      @ethaaaaaaaaan  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      yeah i totally agree, it's definitely the most versatile tense to use when writing any sort of narrative. you also make a really good point re: audience retention; much more to dive into that keeps the listener engaged with the past than the other tenses. thanks sm for watching!!

    man your vid is really cool but imo you spend way too much time introducing really broad subjects rather than talking about Jane's work

    • @ethaaaaaaaaan
      @ethaaaaaaaaan  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      this video is no more than a narration of two papers I wrote for a college class about broad subjects that use jane as examples, she isn't exactly meant to be the focus of the video. this was not at all intended to reach the audience that it did, this is literally just the final project for that class LOL. your critique is 100% valid, this is a pretty old (pre-census) work that I would have structured totally differently nowadays. thanks for watching it anyway, hope you took something away from it :)
