    I still have my super nitro rs4. It has all the aluminum and carbon fiber parts. I forget the companies name but a 5mm titanium frame. The main thing though it has the .21 motor from my savage 21 when I got the .25 for my savage using Wolfpack radicals motor mounts. It still has the 2 speed transmission by using the proceed clutch bell. The thing was scary fast and when I would have coming back towards me my leg would start shaking in nervousness. This was back in the day when I was trying to get it to 100mph.

    Have you found any of the RS4 EVO Clutch Bell pinions to work w/ the 1M stock plastic gears on the RS4's Gears?

    • @a2rc
      @a2rc  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Christopher. Thanks for a great question 💯
      - Both the shaft and belted RS4s use 1M gearing so, they both technically can be used on either car but, they both use different ratios/gear sizes.
      So you can use an “evo” style bell and pinions on the belted cars but, you may need to change the pinions to a more suitable gear ratio/tooth count (and viscera)
      - The shaft cars use a lot bigger spur gears due to the final drive ratio. Some of the parts within the trans can be used on both types of cars.
      So, not everything is interchangeable but, it’s nice that some parts are.
      Hope that helps a bit

      @a2rc  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Wtfcrxjoe That’s a great question and some of the items I talk about and show in this video would help but, that could be a good follow up video topic.
      I’ll definitely think about all the potentials with the transmission and develop a new video of it for the future
      - For now, as long as you believe your engine is running well enough to allow for the transmission to shift then, make sure that you pre-set your clutch adjustment to 3-3.5 turns out to start. If it doesn’t shift with about 5 turns out then, you may have an internal issue. Broken/Missing spring or ball, clutch arm stuck, bell arm catch may be missing/broken/worn, etc. I hope that helps a bit for now

    Where do you get your spur gears and aluminum parts from?

    • @a2rc
      @a2rc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi and Thank you for the question.
      - Since all the RS4 parts are discontinued, you just have to keep an eye out on eBay, FB, swap meets, etc. The cars are worth the time spent looking.
      - I appreciate you and everyone watchn’ 💜

    • @mach389

      @@a2rc yes they are definitely worth the time. One more question if you don’t mind. Are any of the transmission parts interchangeable especially spur gears?? Thank you for your time it is very much appreciated..

    • @a2rc
      @a2rc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mach389 I think what you are asking is, if the different versions of the Nitro RS4s are interchangeable (correct me if aim wrong)?
      - The short answer is, yes spur gears can be interchanged between versions
      - The long and maybe more important answer is, it depends.
      It first comes down to gear ratios and then also, gear version compatibility.
      - One example is the first version of the 2 speed that came out for the belted RS4s. The 1st gear spur version and one-way bearing is different than the updated “heavy duty” version. You can use the 1st version on a RS4 2 with the updated trans if needed/wanted but, you have to have both the original gear and one-way, as an example
      The Super, 1/10 RS4 and Nitro Mini can use the “Same” 2 speed transmission but, they may need different gearing. That depending on what you are trying to do with the car and/or attempting to archive the recommended range of gearing for the scale/tire size/final overall gear ratio.
      Then when talking about the shaft driven RS4 versions (RS4 3 Evo, Evo+,etc), some parts of the transmission are the same as the belted trans. The 2nd gear clutch, clutch bell and 1st gear “gear adaptor” are the same but, the original gearing, shaft bearings, etc are different.
      - The original gear sizes of the RS4 3 are different because the diffs and overall gear ratio of the drivetrain is different (compared to the belted car). So if you just use “whatever size” you want, the car with “work/roll/drive” but maybe not at its peak performance.
      So, understanding and thinking about what you want from the car is important when selecting Spur/clutch bell pinions for your car gearing.
      - It can be a lot to think about but, that’s apart of the fun. Learning about how gearing interacts with overall cars acceleration or top speed or traction, etc is apart of the fun/hobby.
      - They are truly scaled cars and that’s what I fell in love with so many years ago 🩷

    • @a2rc
      @a2rc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks for the question.
      - Well yes and no. The 2nd gear clutch, bell and gear adaptor is the same but the shaft, and gears are not (the shaft driven rs4 3 has a different final drive ratio so, the trans uses different gearing).
      - So, yes some parts can be used but others can’t. So to be fair, I wouldn’t go as far to say that the Evo trans will work in the belted rs4.
      - Nonetheless, you bring up a good point that a few parts between the version can work on one another.
      Thanks for watchn’ JD 🩷

    • @a2rc
      @a2rc  ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on the power of the engine and the final gear ratio for the car. the 2 speed will help if the engine doesn't have a lot of displacement for low end torque but, the single gear set-up may allow for a taller top gear. Maybe pick the Single gear set-up and get it a try and if that shows you need some bottom end (maybe you dont have enough run way for example) then you can try the 2 speed.

I was wondering if you have the part number (s) for the 2 spacers that go on each side of the needle bearing in the 2 speed clutch bell, as well as the needle bearing itself. I’m thinking the bearing is the same as the 1 speed, but I need the spacers. I appreciate any info you have. Thanks!

      Hey Jr. Thanks for the question. It’s great that you have passion for vintage nitro touring cars too.
      - The Spacer part number is B070 and yes, you would use the stock needle bearing with a little bit of grease (part number B046). You are welcome to use 5x8x2.5mm ball bearings as well. A tip would be to use a flanged bearing at the end of the bell to help keep it captured (you can also use washers).

    • @a2rc
      @a2rc  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi and thanks for the great question! I'm always happy to help where I can
      Clutch bells and spur gears are getting harder to find but, the best place to look will be ebay atm.
      - Gear teeth do wear out over time (that is normal and having spares are a must) but, the main cause to worn/broken teeth is Mesh (improper alignment and/or becoming loose while driving). Making sure you align your engine and also, having a proper mesh is key.
      - Use of clean new engine mount bolts and blue Loctite is what I always suggest (each and every time you take your engine out). If you loosen a bolt then, replace it. Stripped heads, broken bolts, engine movement while running due to bolts coming loose, etc can become a bad thing (on any model)
      Other things can "hurt" your gears and drivetrain. Like rocks (clean/blow off your road before you drive), higher power engines, high grip tires, loose, worn and broken chassis/drivetrain components (normal maintenance is very important), etc.
      I hope that helps a bit

      It can be difficult to find parts at times and these awesome vintage cars do fall into the “pay to play” environment but, they are 100% worth it ‼️
      - If you have an opportunity to pick up a whole car that’s in good shape for a good price then, I would jump on it.
