Agreed.....I truly anticipated the Dodgers would bury the Yankees. I was thoughtful to the Yankees in predicting LA in 6 games to win the championship. The Yankees don't have a deep lineup and it's been exposed in the series. The bottom of their lineup hasn't done a thing. That's the difference between the Mets and Yankees......the Mets have a deeper lineup 1 through 9. Yes.... the Yankees have the big 3 in the middle.....but not much at the top of the lineup and very little at the bottom.

Dodgers fan here. In the games vs the Mets I was much more worried. The Mets played inspired baseball and have players I knew could come through at any given moment. The series vs the Mets was much more unpredictable. Honestly, I know the narrative was that the dodgers and Yankees were evenly matched but I knew the dodgers would sweep them or win in 5. The Yankees have so many holes in their game and the matchup was more lopsided than people wanted to acknowledge. Don’t get me wrong the Yankees have a pretty good team but it’s not a championship team. It’s quite clear that the dodgers play complete baseball. It’s quite clear that the dodgers play with an edge which the Yankees do not, at least not in this series. All the way from late in game 1 up until now, the Dodgers just look so unphased by the Yankees power. It’s such a different vibe from that series vs the Mets.
The Mets played as a team, they had belief in themselves as a team and their strategy. They also came through a March Madness type of run, being in MUST-WIN mode even before the playoffs started, just to make it. The Yankees are playing as individual batters, individual fielders, and an individual manager… there doesn’t seem to be any cohesion, or any momentum they build up and feed off of for another.

The Yankees have played a gauntlet of good teams, the best being the Padres, then the Mets, then the Yankees. Talent doesn’t matter when it doesn’t show up, the Mets were blown out some games, but they also made other games closer (and played a Healthy Shohei), as compared to the Yankees.

I think if the Mets' pitching held up, the NLCS goes to game 7, but it is a toss up as to who would win. Maybe the Mets because they did hit Bueller really hard, they just didn't have the results. If the Mets win and this is a subway series-world series rematch... assuming the Met pitching is still holding up, I don't see the Yanks fairing any better with how they are playing right now. Maybe Yanks win game 1 and don't blow that game, but... they aren't playing good baseball right now. Maybe there is a bit more fire with it being the cross town rival, but we saw that didn't help the Phillies... so... all we can do as Met fans is look on and watch. Orioles fan here. The Yankees would not even have won the division had it not been for a rash of Orioles injuries. Absent just the injury to our closer Felix Bautista (his replacement Craig Kimbrel blew a ton of saves) and we win the division over the Yankees.

The Mets swept the Yankees 4-0 in the 2024 Regular Season. Every year is different. Every team is different. The regular season is all that we have to go by, and the Regular Season says that the Mets were indisputably better this season.
Even at that, Mets walked like 45 Dodgers and left 56 men on base. If they cut that by a third, they probably win at least one more game, if not the whole damn series. I think the Mets were better than the Dodgers. They just ran out of steam, particularly their pitching.

Mets left 56 men on base during that series. 56! If one-third of those guys score, that's 18 more runs over the course of the series. I would imagine those 18 runs could've swung the series the other way easily. I think the Dodgers executed better, but if the Mets played their best baseball, I think they win in 6 or 7.

Most of the talent in baseball was in the NL in 2024, very disproportionately in the NLW. The Yankee-apologists' claim that they are in the toughest division in MLB is preposterous. Baltimore was riddled with injuries to key players, especially the pitching staff. The Rays are in a nose-dive after years of getting rid of their best players so as not to pay them. The Red Sox haven't had a decent pitching staff in years and the offense never recovered from trading Betts for Verdugo. The Yanks blew through a bunch of weak teams to get to the playoffs and to the World Series. The Padres would have crushed the Yankees. The key difference between the Yanks and Mets was the bullpen. The Yankee bullpen keeps them in games; the Met bullpen gives games away.

The Yankees were not “better” than the Mets. The Mets swept them head-to-head, and the Mets likely will end up faring better against the Dodgers in the playoffs. Congrats to the Yanks for winning the AL … but the Mets were better. The NL was better. Anything short of the Yanks coming back to win the WS yields these conclusions.

Most of the talent in baseball was in the NL in 2024, very disproportionately in the NLW. The Yankee-apologists' claim that they are in the toughest division in MLB is preposterous. Baltimore was riddled with injuries to key players, especially the pitching staff. The Rays are in a nose-dive after years of getting rid of their best players so as not to pay them. The Red Sox haven't had a decent pitching staff in years and the offense never recovered from trading Betts for Verdugo. The Yanks blew through a bunch of weak teams to get to the playoffs and to the World Series. The Padres would have crushed the Yankees.
The key difference between the Yanks and Mets was the bullpen. The Yankee bullpen keeps them in games; the Met bullpen gives games away.
SIMPLE MATH: Yankees, with all their history and Aaron Judge awesomeness, managed only ONE win against Dodgers. Mets won TWO games against SAME team. And Mets won ALL 4 games against Yankees this year. SO, Mets better based on Math. No history, NO 27 WS wins, no heart of Yankee pride. NO feelings just facts!!!

Yankees were fundamentally a bad team. They got into the playoffs for 2 reasons, they had a tremendous first half and an AMERICAN LEAGUE with no competition. They are a one dimensional team and Cashman and Boone shud be let go. Judge is not a big time player like Soto is. Im sure Cole will opt out.

Verdugo had a very sub-par year playing a position where there is normally a gorilla. Bab-Boone is one of the worst in-game managers I've ever seen. Now, as to Judge's horrific post-season, my belief is that this huge man gets worn out by playing center field and has nothing left after the regular season is over. He's good at center, but center isn't good for his body. Only a fool like Bab-Boone would play his best player in a spot that will wear him out. I would take him out of the outfield altogether and play him at first base, as the Phillies did with Bryce Harper.
