Holy fuck. I’ve been watching your tutorials a lot in the last 24 hours and when I saw this I thought it was an older video until I saw the description. Amazing can’t wait to try this!
Hi John, I have only just come across Strokes, you've created a great creative tool, you seem to be constantly evoloving, updating and improving things, which is great to see a developer do, can I throw in a suggestion for a big update, that being to have a randomizer dice, imagine a single click dice icon which randomly changes step amount/length and speed/ loop points/logic/matrix/weights/reverb/ delay sends, etc etc, and possibly a right click on the dice to enable you to check and uncheck the parts you want to randomize and leave those you don't, and to top it all a undo/redo button, it would save a lot of clicking about and would create lots of happy accidents, I wish you well with it going forward.
Your Manual says "The CONFIG page enables us to reassign MIDI CC numbers and MIDI channels for Notes, Matrix & Weights, allowing Strokes to simultaneously sequence multiple machines." This is Brilliant !!! I've been waiting for a sequencer that allows for multichannel MIDI out. It's a game changer.
Amazing. Any way to use the sampler feature in Logic, where Strokes is normally a Midi FX? I know that's not your DAW of choice. Love your plugin - it's given me so much joy and kickstarted my creativity.
Nice one Ben :) its a regular AU in Logic now, which reminds me I need to send out a fresh MIDI FX version with the sampler switched off edit : MIDI FX & Instrument builds available on v3.9 now :)
@@cong-burn Yeah both versions work beautifully. I adore this instrument. Just tried the Ableton implementation too and it's excellent - such a great sweet spot between programming and intuitive play.
Just got it wanted to know why you can not input your own steps for the Euclid mode instead if it being random and would be good if you could make each step a different note per step
The euclidean mode isn't quite random its based on this formula - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euclidean_rhythm If you check the VST3 tutorial there's a section where I break it down th-cam.com/video/-b0UtgdOQ1g/w-d-xo.html You can enter your own steps in step mode. Next update will let you sequence pitch Thnx !
Yep the MIDI sequencer is always running. You can choose to ignore the sampler if you wish, and if you don't load a sample into the sampler then it won't be using any CPU cycles - as if it didn't exist :)
Hi everyone has anyone here experienced constant crashing using this plugin in Ableton? If so did you manage to work out a fix? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
that's right, you'll need a DAW to get it running on desktop. there's guides in the manual for setting up in Ableton Live, Bitwig, Cubase, Logic & more
@@cong-burnOK cheers. Always been amazed how very few apps can do this. Guess I’m in the minority these days. Perhaps it’s hard to implement? This app looks like all I would need but I’ve never taken to finding, editing and organising samples ready for iPad - it’s probably just called being lazy 😂
@@Monotonous-Tediumyeah it'd defo be time consuming to implement. I'd wager you already have an audio recorder app on your device - once you've recorded the audio files its easy enough to import them into strokes. so if you weigh up the time it takes to implement vs the time it takes to switch to another app and record a sample - I'll admit its not my top priority
Major update, big big kudos John. I'll have to watch this properly later to grasp it all, glad to see you taking this next level!

This looks like a brilliant update, really looking forward to experimenting!
Incredible work John, well done getting this out so quickly!
Pure Genius! Thanks for this tremendous update. Strokes is now a part of my DNA :)
Bloody brilliant - thanks John!
F-king brilliant addition
Cheers
Sick! You just keep making it better!
Wow! Can’t wait to finish work, get this downloaded and then lose myself for the rest of the night 😂. Amazing work, sir!
Guess I'm getting into the groove today ;)
Your opinion:why the transport bar is in the options page?
Bravissimo 👏🏻👏🏻
Linux version when? :)
iPhone version will be of great help… fun to be always with

can i still use it as just a sequencer w/external synths/sounds?

Awesome. Is there any chance to buy/download the v2 as a m4l device?
I'm not supporting/updating m4l anymore but if you really want a copy drop me an email!

For me it crashes on ogg files or longer wav files.
@@andristeika1452 Thanks Andris for the feedback
This is Amazing. I really like the cross platform capability. Can we expect multi audio out routing in future updates ?
thanks ! its on the roadmap for a future release :)
Can you sequence melodies per channel?
you can on v3.10 - more details soon :)
Presets would be magical
Just a quick question - what is the minimum tempo it can run at? I make slow evolving ambient, and very low tempos are important to me. Thanks!
20-999 :)
Hi John, the windows/mac option does not include a standalone version, is that right?
that's right, you'll need a DAW to get it running on desktop. there's guides in the manual for setting up in Ableton Live, Bitwig, Cubase, Logic & more
Just hearing about this now. It seems brilliant, especially that it is cross platform.
Can it do scala files?
not yet, but I like this idea a lot !
Amazing! Can the individual steps in the sequencer be changed?
yep! they're midi mappable too if you want to hook it up to a monome grid or something
Amazing work John. Can't wait to have a play with this.
Please make it compatible with iPhone
I like the idea but not sure how I'd fit it all on an iPhone screen!
So this samples direct? As in, it is a sampler? Or it loads samples as files?
loads samples as files, for now...

When you put it like that……..😂 fair enough 👍
