To me it's the best 12'' vinyl of all time. A masterpiece in mixing (tension) and mastering (dynamics). Dancing to Franky was always a pleasure in the discotheques in those days.

I heard this on Annie Nightingale's Sunday evening radio request programme back in the 80s and I still love it all these later. Great production. Annie played some great music you rarely heard elsewhere.
The first time I heard this song was on 11/20/07. What got me to liking this song was at the beginning from .54 to 1.07 I don’t know what instrument it is but it made me feel more appropriate of listening to the music much more clearly. Every time I hear it I can visualize that Night I hear it. Still gives me a good feeling.
I like the build up! Great tune! One of my favourites from FGTH. Always shiver, when Hollys voice massive come in at 6:00.... also the climax is an extraordinary instrumental part! The whole concept have a similarity to RUSS BALLARDs "Fire Still Burns"-Promo 12". Also good to hear! ;)
do what you are told... ;) best song, best version... thank god I was 23 when it was published... listening at MusicHall FFM sound optimized and laser supported. My children are deeply jealous ;)
I remember getting this on a tape copy years and years ago.... and if it's not one of the best songs and remixes ever.... and much more worthy than 225 views!!! So interesting, and for the time.
These guys totally rock and were the godfathers of electronica/dance music. I can't help but notice though that this song, Relax, and Welcome to Pleasure dome are the exact same chords! Whatever though still awesome
I think I noticed even FOUR versions of the Rage Hard 12 inch... different in details. This one is still my favourite, got the LP still in my collection. Maybe even the best 12 inch ever...
Laugh like the head of Apollo Young and strong on the wings of tomorrow Rise up in millions, get off your knees Dispelling the demons In the valley of danger We all work together, sculptures in sorrow With love light to follow, on Sweet head of Apollo Into the light (Rage hard) Doing it right, doing it right (Rage hard) Against the dark (Rage hard) Make your mark Let the tournament begin Don't give up and don't give in Strength to rise up, strength to win Strength to save the world from losing Into the light (Rage hard) Doing it right (Rage hard) Against the dark (Rage hard) The blue eyes of children They shine without fear Hope is the future, with oceans of cheer (Nothing to fear) There's nothing to fear The laughter of angels resounding from heaven Keep fighting the favours Of charlatan saviours, charlatan saviours Into the light (Rage hard) Doing it right, doing it right (Rage hard) Against the dark (Rage hard) Make your mark Let the tournament begin Don't give up and don't give in (Rage hard) Into the light (Rage hard) Doing it right (Rage hard) Against the dark (Rage hard) Make your mark I don't know which way to go My love's like driven snow When we past the test of time My love you shall be mine And if only, lost and lonely Is all that's wrong with me, we'll be free Be free, be free Laugh like the head of Apollo Young and strong on the wings of tomorrow (Rage hard) (Rage hard) Let the tournament begin Don't give up and don't give in Into the light (Rage hard) Doing it right Let the tournament begin Don't give up and don't give in Strength to rise up, strength to win Strength to save the world from losing
Great! Thank you very much! 🤩 You wouldn't happen to have the complete text that the lady speaks during the first few minutes? Unfortunately, I don't understand all of it. I'm not a native speaker.
"Reverb" she says? Then I misunderstood this for around 40 years. 😂 You wouldn't happen to have the complete text that the lady speaks during the first few minutes? Unfortunately, I don't understand all of it. I'm not a native speaker.

After the promising big funky intro, how heavily sounds the rest of this track... Here is the fall of FGTH (the Rise was short but so intense with "Welcome...") It's the last 12 inch to catch in their discography. And Liverpool LP, oh my god, such a disappointment.
Omg i was 13 when i got this. Still have it thanks for posting
one of the best "Extended Versions" in music history!
A timeless masterpiece. 🎹✨
still one of the best, I'm 58 years old and freaking out!! I saw it live in Cologne, Germany
A masterpiece and one of the best examples of the true 12 inch single, Trevor Horn is a God !!
To me it's the best 12'' vinyl of all time. A masterpiece in mixing (tension) and mastering (dynamics). Dancing to Franky was always a pleasure in the discotheques in those days.
Espcially as it is Stephen Lipson who has produced it.
I wish I could shake your hand right now and buy you a beer
Thank you holly the artist and Trevor the producer. the Best Britain have ever produced.
Listen
Do you want to know a secret
Move with me inside the strange world of the twelve inch
Where nothing is as it seems
Where everything has its place
And there’s a place for everything
And anything can happen
Let me take you on a tour of the twelve inch
Using this special extension of Rage Hard as our example
We have begun
It is of course Frankie and Frankie only
Around we go
Under through up and under
Watch out here for the guitar
Let it sustain
Now our favourite
The funky guitar
Always note the sequencer
This will never let us down
Let it have its wicked way
We are sliding good
Building fast
The perky percussion
How does it feel
The god like bass guitar
A hey of backing vocals
Rage
A lust of deep dark synthesizer
And we shall be teased by a long merciless reverb
The break down
So you can lie down
The whip
If you know what I mean
Do what you are told
Those repeat echoes
An essential part of a twelve inch is the climax
Yes
But first
Yes
The anti-climax
The lads with electric disgust
Paul Rutherford here for the smell of it
How does it feel
Hard
Do what you are told
Move with me over the thrill of the twelve inch
Do what you are told
The whip
Do what you are told
The whip
Do what you are told
The fall and the rise
The whip
The fall
The whip
We are sliding good
Building fast
The beginning
And the end
The rush and the thrust
The speed and the sweat
The vocals of Holly Johnson
Yes
We are at the centre of a riff
Rage
Rage hard
The fall
And the rise
The beginning
And the end
The rush and the thrust
The speed and the sweat
It is of course Frankie and Frankie only
You flipping me off
The climax
The climax
Rage…
Thanks, good job! 👍
Grande! 👏
Μυθωδης μουσική!!!! Έργο τεχνης!! Δεν περίμενα να ακούσω τέτοιο κομμάτι ποτε στην ζωή μου!! Holly you are genious!!
Όλες οι 12" εκτελέσεις των FGTH ήταν εκπληκτικές! Πολύ προχωρημένες για εκείνη την εποχή που τις ακούγαμε!

" Always note...the Sequencer - this will never let us down"..."let it have its wicked way"... lol
Kudos to Sirius/XM's New Wave channel DJ Bueller, for turning me on to this fantastic song just this past Saturday night. Thank you.
Obergeil...!
I've got the original 12" vinyl - love it!!!
These guys totally rock and were the godfathers of electronica/dance music. I can't help but notice though that this song, Relax, and Welcome to Pleasure dome are the exact same chords! Whatever though still awesome

Laugh like the head of Apollo
Young and strong on the wings of tomorrow
Rise up in millions, get off your knees
Dispelling the demons
In the valley of danger
We all work together, sculptures in sorrow
With love light to follow, on
Sweet head of Apollo
Into the light
(Rage hard) Doing it right, doing it right
(Rage hard) Against the dark
(Rage hard) Make your mark
Let the tournament begin
Don't give up and don't give in
Strength to rise up, strength to win
Strength to save the world from losing
Into the light
(Rage hard) Doing it right
(Rage hard) Against the dark
(Rage hard)
The blue eyes of children
They shine without fear
Hope is the future, with oceans of cheer
(Nothing to fear) There's nothing to fear
The laughter of angels resounding from heaven
Keep fighting the favours
Of charlatan saviours, charlatan saviours
Into the light
(Rage hard) Doing it right, doing it right
(Rage hard) Against the dark
(Rage hard) Make your mark
Let the tournament begin
Don't give up and don't give in
(Rage hard) Into the light
(Rage hard) Doing it right
(Rage hard) Against the dark
(Rage hard) Make your mark
I don't know which way to go
My love's like driven snow
When we past the test of time
My love you shall be mine
And if only, lost and lonely
Is all that's wrong with me, we'll be free
Be free, be free
Laugh like the head of Apollo
Young and strong on the wings of tomorrow
(Rage hard)
(Rage hard)
Let the tournament begin
Don't give up and don't give in
Into the light
(Rage hard) Doing it right
Let the tournament begin
Don't give up and don't give in
Strength to rise up, strength to win
Strength to save the world from losing
Great! Thank you very much! 🤩 You wouldn't happen to have the complete text that the lady speaks during the first few minutes? Unfortunately, I don't understand all of it. I'm not a native speaker.
God like bass guitar
I would almost dare to say that this is one from the beginning of Trance. A steady rhythm, escalating...

Too clever, they should have ditched him for the second album.

Very innuendo!!😉😈
It’s ingenious. But I don’t like that the 7“ is just attached to it at the end.
