Arguably one of the most well-known and well-developed ( fusoya.eludevisibility.org/lm... ) SNES
hacks in existence, Super Demo World ( fusoya.eludevisibility.org/lm... ) puts Mario into a new realm that spans well beyond his original adventure.
Features of the hack include:
The ability to store unconventional items in the reserve box, such as a koopa, springboard, message box, or vine
120 exits in total, including two secret worlds
Creative and challenging level design, with some puzzle elements thrown in
"New" graphics (mostly backgrounds taken from other games, such as Donkey Kong Country 3 ( tasvideos.org/1822M ) and Mega Man X ( tasvideos.org/3151M ))
In this run, PangaeaPanga ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/P... ) improves upon the previous movie ( tasvideos.org/1135M ) by more than five minutes using newly discovered glitches and a slower overworld route, which counterintuitively saves time.

I remember hearing about romhack before, years ago. I recognize several elements an old Warhammer 40k group was talking about, like the eggs, the skulls' eyes turning yellow when you finish the final secret world, etc. Kinda funny to end up seeing a TAS of it so many years later. XD

I remember watching a german youtuber doing a lets play of this game many many years ago. Unfortunately, the videos and channel have been deleted. But damn was this game great. One of my favorite SMW rom hacks of all time.

This is a stellar run, but I feel like it really highlights how _variable_ the hack dev's quality can be. It's a demonstration hack, so there's obviously gonna be a lot of tech-demo stuff going on, but that always felt detrimental to the game as a whole, especially the Special Zone's whole gimmick. I'm of the opinion that having a five-minute-long, auto-scrolling, item-juggling stage with a big ol' leap-of-faith close to the end as the *first encounter* a casual player might have with the "complete or never leave" gimmick was done _purely_ to spite people who weren't using save-states. Especially considering both endings were right next to each other, so you'd need to spend ten minutes just to full-clear one stage.
It ain't often a hack ends up being a good example _and_ a dire warning on level design, that's all I'll say :V
I'm playing this video on a crt television it looks like it's a new mario world game played by a very skilled player
Never expected the ending was THAT dark tho...
But damn, was it satisfactory for us with a dark sense of humour that makes this game, which deserving of a remake with all custom music by today’s standards, the best for its time in 2003 alongside FPI’s Chaos CompleXX)! 😂
That's just cruel, leading us on with a happy ending only to pull the rug out from underneath at the last few seconds... XD

Can this be played on an actual super Nintendo?
I think you have to download the ROM and play it on a emulator, idk where to download it cause there are many ways (some may contain viruses or malware on the site you visit).
There might be a way to play it on the original console but idk how, if there is a way then is way to complex.
Is better just download the rom and play it on a emulator.

TAS is so much fun to watch but I think it would be much more fun and enjoyable if it was focused in a super play instead of a as quickly as possible run which skips much of the game... leave the speed for the speed runners.
