I've had a lifelong admiration for this awesome woman, she is so stylish and fearless. Just finished reading her book ...Rock Queen... gives a real insite to her many achievements, a very good read too.
I videod a couple of guys climbing this a few years back. Couldn't watch much as I thought I might see a death so I just switched on my camera and recorded their progress now and again. One of them was almost 60 and the other was 67.
hola, Catherine es una escaladora de las mejores que ha habido, sin embargo es poco conocida, una lástima, porque se merece estar en el podio de los mejores.
Amazing. I could never climb but live vicariously through these videos! I just don't have those nerves of steel. I would freakin panic on that shit, man. lol
At 8:10 - 20 when the narrator talks about how far above her anchor she is, he is ignoring the fact that she just clipped into a Friend (7:40) that is at about her waist at this point.
It doesn't actually say in the full documentary, but presumably she was picked up by the helicopter that dropped a camera man on the top to film her arrival on the summit... Another way down is to base jump - search OLD MAN OF HOY BASE JUMP!
abseiling down, definitely there are bolted anchors on the summit for escape down. Noticed she had backpack which definitely contained harness and abseiling gears.
pcbondart -- Usually you have to abseil down, that's why those old ropes are there, from previous descents. You can't remove the ropes from the bottom. Her pack probably contained stuff for her descent.
spectrum10 -- You can use chalk to dry them, or nowadays there are liquids and sprays. Different types of rock have different textures. Some tpes are very gritty and grip nicely, others are smoother.

This woman is heroic.
Great commentary, admiring, knowledgeable.
This girl/woman is in a league of her own.
Chapeau.

You would not panic because you wouldn't be there till you were ready. Calm is the key to that climb

I thought I will never find the GOAT , but now I am seeing it ...
The British murmur reminds me of snooker commentary
catherin you are a great climber in rest of the world
Wow amazing
Unbelievable! She is fearless. I cringe just watching this. How does she do it?
Thanks
Immense!
There is a video about she and her sister climbing that one is really scarey
Good heavens how brave. I get busy going over a bridge
Shes the best, its like Rocheteau in Football 👍
Does wearing a backpack make it more difficult in terms of balance?
No idea, I've only ever climbed the stairs!
spectrum10 --- Not really.
How does she get down?
how does she get back down? Seriously, they never show that . . .

thank you, jumping occured to me, except she did not have a chute!

As explained in the full documentary, she carries the rope for descending in her backpack.
Just read on Wikipedia that Catherine was four month pregnant while attempting this climb.
If your hands sweat while doing this, does that make it harder to get a grip on the rock?

This women is dragon.
Nice route!
Anyone knows the grade in french scale? aprox.?
are you the father ?
Wow, it made me feel sick just watching, even though I was confident from the video title she wasn't going to fall.
👍👍👍👏👏👏😘😘🌷💪🦁
So...how did she get back down? Seriously?
shes carrying a parachute on her back
She's carrying a rope in her backpack. She rappelled down.
+williamina vanbottle Yes, but people have BASE jumped from the summit.
MrDlfen721 that's exactly what im wondering.
jr anglais thanks was wondering about that
What a Girl !!!!!
😘👍🙋🏻
Amazing. The level of exposure on that climb was giving me vertigo.
The greatest climber, ever,
The French don't jam even soloing, I see!
??
Only she knows what is life and death....no saint or prophet can come close to her..
Or dizzy even
Michael Smith This is an easy climb for Catherine, it's the same route Chris Bonnington took,
Encore une voie où tu dis merde ??? Merde alors... :p
Using ropes is cheating. Anybody can climb with a rope
Nice vid, but not ‘solo’
meh, she did 2 of the 3 pitches rope free... rope solo'd one pitch... i'll still give her the solo.
If there isn't a second person belaying I don't see any other way to describe other than solo!
