- The Big Valley Full Episode | Season 3 Episode 19+20+21 | Classic Western TV Full Series
---------------------------------------------------
The series begins about 6 years after the death of the family patriarch, Thomas Barkley. Although he is never shown in the series (other than a painting and a statue), the character of Thomas Barkley is referred to as a major plot point many times. The character of Heath Barkley is introduced in episode one as the illegitimate son of Tom Barkley. His presence and claim to the Barkley name is the focus of many of the dramatic plots in season one. While the successful and rich are often portrayed in present day as the unscrupulous villains, the Barkley family is portrayed as upstanding citizens of Stockton, models of justice and fairness, often going against popular sentiment to uphold the rights of the underdog.
all the episodes were brilliant
nah. Some of them were cheesy, some of them were preposterous, and some of them were just plain bad.
At 6:05, we are shown a view of the nocturnal sky,, including the moon. The moon is clearly full. And yet at 8:54 Heath Barkley says, "A quarter-moon is all we got. Just right for an ambush."
Good catch...a clear mistake.
I can't believe Mrs. Barkley and this character are old friends again. the last time he played someone else who was an old friend of her and her deceased husband.
That's James Whitmore. During WWII he was a 2nd Lieutenant Marine posted, on guard duty, at the Panama Canal. In a 1975 Film, James Whitmore portrayed himself as President Truman; from that fine narrative, he got a Grammy Award, as well as an Academy Award Nomination.
@@ArmenianBishop He always plays a bad guy. I don't watch any ww2 movies so far from reality.
@@awhitecouple You misunderstood my comment: [1] James Whitmore (1921 - 2009) actually was a Marine Lieutenant, and he was posted at the Panama Canal, during WWII. That was no act, it was for real. [2] He did a monologue as Truman. Acting the part of a hero was a refreshing change.
@@ArmenianBishop O wow, that's cool. I just don't pay no attention to movies about WW2 because they are making people believe there half truth and whole lies. His caricter is always shadey to say the least.
@@awhitecouple Well, I've been trying to point out that he stepped out of that "shady" role (in 1975), and portrayed himself as President Truman, an American Hero. He even got nominated for Best Actor, and got a Golden Globe Award for doing it. But, it's certainly true that his acting parts, in The Big Valley were usually disappointing characters.
James Whitmore always plays someone Heath knew in the past and doesn't like!
It always worked!
With countless other talented actors, they casted him too many times.
48:41 that's so sad 😢
