Glad you're keeping the intros. It's always nice to listen to you chat with a cuppa before you dive into the action. After all it's your channel so keep it how you intend to run it. Speaking of cuppas, when can we get our hands on one of your lex mugs! Would love one of those!

Hi. Thanks for being you. You approach things much like my grandfather used to. Too bad he missed the Bunker Craze that is happening.

i prefer the coffee and tea breaks myself haha. you should do what Dale mentioned and put a hammer drill in hammer mode then weld a socket onto a bit and not have to spend all day swinging away let the machine save your arms great job as always 💪🏼🤙🏼🍻 cheers

Hi lex . I think that much hammering would be enough for most people to say that's enough for today.
Not everybody can have a chat to a camera, myself included .I guess with practice. You've got that skill ,may as well use it ,it also helps keep context of what's going on.
I'm currently working on the Christmas calendar design, will help save some money over the season.

Just a personal opinion, I think you would benefit from a radio mike, sometimes you sound very quiet then it starts booming when you begin to work. Not taking anything away from your videos as I really enjoy them, just an opinion. 😊

@baxterboy23 I agree and I actually bought one then discovered my poxy phone doesn't support them. I appreciate the feedback and might try and get a Bluetooth one and try that (the one I bought has a receiver that plugs into the earphone socket).

Seen two adds before the video. YT is stealing from you lol. Top work Lex. I am wondering how much further down before you hit rock. I was having a dig in the sump yesterday. Finally hit what I believe to be rock at 3.5m. The stuff is so hard that my little hammer drill does not want to look at it. I hope you can get to the bottom without coming across it yourself. Nice progress.

@BackyardBunkerBuilder were they at least good ads? I wonder about the bedrock question as well - I might make a few extensions for my auger and drill down a few metres and see what I find.

@@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild would be good to stay ahead of the soil conditions. May alter the plan my fingers are crossed for you. Like all adds mate they were crap lol

Hey lex, I’m assuming those bars are for the roof of your tunnel, you really don’t need to extend them 1700 into the surrounding material, standard construction practice is 40X diameter of the rebar you are using as a lap, so with 16mm bar 700mm splice is plenty!
You work hard enough digging, may as well work easy when you can

The bars are only to hold up the clay while I put in a proper roof. I will be tunneling in about 1 metre which means I'll have about 700mm of rebar still inside the clay. Depending on how it goes I may go further in and I've got a couple of ideas on how I will do that. It's a lot of fun working it out as I go and I probably over engineer some of it but better that than not enough and consequences that would entail.
