    This is exactly the type of tutorial I was looking for ! I want to make a Robert Baratheon helmet from Game of Thrones and it uses antlers on a helmet. So my goal is to make a foam helmet and somehow form it around the antlers! Thanks for the help!!!

    Very cool! I wish I had started looking for ideas sooner so had time to source the items needed to make these for Halloween...

    Hello!
    What other alternative products do you recommend using instead of the free form air epoxy?

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could use Free Form Sculpt epoxy as well, but the result will be heavier.

    Are they very uncomfortable to wear? Like if you were to suddenly turn your head would they hold on well or topple over? I'm planning to make my own for a fair

    Can I use normal air dry clay to form the antlers on the wire? Would it change anything besides the weight?

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Air dry clay may crack as it dries. Free Form air would not.

    Where did you get the 1/4" aluminum wire, I've looked everywhere where I live. Could you send me a link to what you used?

    Can I paint the Free Form AIR epoxy with acrylic or spray paint?

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, but we recommend you use a good quality auto body primer for best adhesion.

    Fantastic job! That looks amazing! I definitely want to give that a try. Is this type of putty durable? Will it crack easily once it’s cured?

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Free Form AIR is a durable epoxy once fully cured.

    I made my antlers out of only clay foam and they're very floppy when I walk..
    Do you know how I can make it more rigid before I paint it?!

    What lengths is the aluminum wire cut to?

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Anne, we don't have exact numbers on this, but the lengths would depend on your particular project.

    The free form air I found on amazon says trial size. Is that enough for this project? I'm planning on making more tines than you did.

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kim, the trial unit contains 1.8 pounds of material - about 1 quart by volume.

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, about 2 quarts by volume! :)

    I was wanting to make thick ram horns, could I use the tin foil method as a base? Will this epoxy adhere to that?

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, epoxy should adhere to the foil.

    • @mfoltz3720
      @mfoltz3720 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reynolds Advanced Materials thank you so much for answering! I would need to use gold black and brown paint. What do you recommend?

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once the epoxy is primed with a suitable sandable primer such as Plasti-Cote Sandable Auto Body Primer, any paint can be used.

  • @tinyduty2795

    Hey guys, where did you get your wire? I got some 1/4" aluminum armature wire and it looks HUGE compared to what you have there. Is it just me?

    • @ReynoldsamPlus
      @ReynoldsamPlus  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris. 1/4" aluminum wire was indeed used. Should you find that 1/4" is too big you can scale down to 3/16".
