    First of all thnx sir, it's very helpful. And i think LV terminals most not be short ckted because, as we decreasing the voltage in a very high ratio, the current will going to increase in that ratio and if we provide a path for easy circulation of current, it will damage the device.

    When u short the secondary of transformer voltage goes to zero and cause huge amount of short circuit current rush into both primary and secondary of transformer cause damage to winding of transformer

    Hi Gaurav,
    Simultaneous burden 100VA per secondary core right ?

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. It is considering burden of all the windings

    Many thanks, very interesting video.
    In nameplates of transformers
    it is mentioned secondary tensions 100/√3 V ,110/√3 V, 115/√3V. why this difference. In the new transformers we find the just 115/√3 V

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, secondary voltage is generally depends upon customer’s requirement. But if you are following IEC then having 3 different voltages is not recommended.

      Well. Would you like please to specify the reference of IEC standard. Thanks

      @GauravJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For IVT, it is IEC 61869-3

    What is the difference between power transformer and instrument transformer, sir

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Power transformer is used for stepping up or down the voltage generally in transmission phase. Instrument transformer is used to measure the voltage and current and also for protection purpose.

    Suppose we have 69000/√3 /120 V voltage transformer with nominal burden 100 VA. What would be typical termal burden for this unit and cross section of wire of secondary winding(s)?

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thermal burden is generally defined by the manufacturer. And hence, it may vary based on the design.

    • @imeprezime1285
      @imeprezime1285 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GauravJ I am aware of that. However, it is strange how wide range of thermal burdens for similar instrument transformers one can find. For example, 24 kV voltage transformer, nominal burden 50 VA, but thermal burden given by manufacturer whooping 1500 VA

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is strange. Because practically the burden will not go to 1500 VA. Or may be it is typo error it could be 150 VA (Just a wild thought 😜)

    • @imeprezime1285
      @imeprezime1285 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GauravJ I guess it is not mistake. Usually such data are found for potential transformers used in medium voltage networks. 750 or 1500 VA thermal burdens stated are not so rare while nominal burden just 50 VA. Secondary winding wires are like 1.5 mm2

    Sir what is thermal varden of VT

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thermal burden :
      This indicates the total amount of apparent power we can take form IVT at a same time without increasing the temperature of IVT as specified by IEC or the other standards.
