I remember when he came to Deal, he sang in a small church in which was jam packed with people who clearly didn't know who he was. As soon as he started you could hear the crowd go silent in amazement. I sat in the front row about 6ft away from him and during the half time break I got to meet him. He is Awesome, no other way to put it. Now my inspiration for singing.
Merci Sir Willard White .
What a sad situation, a world bereft of much, love, respect, honour, integrity, dignity, loyalty and so full of hate, greed, anger, hunger and despair. For me, this beautiful rendition serves to remind me of how we treat others, and keeps me mindful of my own conduct.
Bravo to you Sir Willard White. I too sat and wrote my poems under the coconut, mango and cocoa tree in Trinidad & Tobago as a child. At 72 i Universe published my first book THE PASSION & POETRY 2012. with DVD excerpts now on U Tube. Geneva M. Neale (Audain) 2412 2012
Sir Willard White has one of the most magnificent, powerful, and unforgettable baritone voices, that, I've ever heard. His rendition of "Old Man River" is better, than, Robeson's, in my opinion...Willard White is, vocally, in a class and category, that, only a rare few occupy. Jamaica has produced many, who, have excelled far beyond their peers, in various spheres of life, artistically, musically, scientifically, athletically, and medically, among others, and Sir Willard White is one such person..
You are deaf! Robenson is a full voice with chest register, here is a reading a text, if we comparing with much older artists. Here is no understang in singing!
I didn't think anyone could equal Paul Robeson, but Willard White does. I was lucky enough to hear him when he sang in Winchester Cathedral a few years ago.
Outstanding! I cannot believe this video has only 3 comments! What an amazing voice and musicality, his interpretation so fitting with the style of the music.
Thanks for uploading. Listen to Sammy Davis Jr.'s version (in my opinion the greatest version of this song ever sang) here on youtube. Just search "Sammy Davis Jr. - Tap Dancing, Singing and More..." The song starts at 05:15.
For reasons of His own, Massa God sprinkles the earth with special people. Here's one. A truly distinguished Jamaican.
Willard is, quite possibly, the best barritone I've ever heard...What a smooth and beautiful voice and what a brilliant singer.

Just magnificent. He captures the song like nobody else I've heard. What a moving, beautiful statement of the human condition.
Even Paul Robeson?? 🎶🎶
Beautiful uncle, just beautiful
very touching! Williard White is still one of the best baritone ever....EXCELLENT>
Dan Dominic he amazing! Would he be considered more of a bass rather than baritone?
