In 2017, my wife and I drove around the entire country of Iceland, and all we listened to was this album and the Lay of Thrym on repeat (some Wardruna as well), and having this song play while driving through the surreal Icelandic landscape was one of the coolest experiences we've ever had, and anytime I listen to Tyr, I'm reminded of that trip. The vocal intro is simply amazing.
For a band that's released album after album full of incredible vocal performances, this is probably my favorite. I can listen to that intro over and over and over. So beautiful.
One of my favourite songs. "The algorithm" suggested it to me some 2 years ago, when I was surfing TH-cam for info about the Faroes as a travel destination for photography. It made me a Tyr fan since then. I daresay it's one of Tyr's signiture songs.
so gorgeous like always! i am a turk, and i made my friends listen to this song, to make them understand metal is not just noise and "uncomfortable" screaming like they thought it was. they loved it, and now they ask me about other songs of tyr :)
👍🥰 What are the odds for a studio version of Torkils Døtur? I was blown away by your performance at the TÝR with the Symphony Orchestra of the Faroe Islands concert.
I would like to share a little story which happened with me and my friend yesterday. Maybe this will be not a big thing for the others or for the band, but for us it was a great and funny moment. We were sitting on the tram in Budapest on the way to our favorite bar. During our conversation we have stared out of the window. There was a bus next to us and from the nowhere we have realized that Tadeusz was sitting on that bus next to the window. Fortunately he looked at us and after that we waved to him and showed devil horns to him. He waved us back and also showed the devil horns with a smile on his face. But the most funny and surreal thing was that on that day I wore my TYR t-shirt. So when I realized this I stood up and showed him my t-shirt trough out the tram’s window :D He was surprised and started laughing, meanwhile he showed his thumb up. This whole situation was a maximum of 30 seconds, but it means a lot to us and we were incredible happy. What was the chance that this would happen to us? After that, this little story was discussed over between us several times during the evening and it is sure, that it will be an unforgetable memory to us! I hope that maybe Heri or someone from the band will read these lines, because they are not just bring joy with their music for years, but they're also very kind persons and working hard with every album and concert. I would like to say thank you for all of your great music and for your efforts, hopefully we will meet many more times at concerts! :)
I cannot speak Faroese but I can sing your songs :D your music and your lyrics move my soul. Thank you so much for being you! I saw you live in Denver, Colorado in the States, Children of Bodom were headlining, and you only played five songs...We drove from Nebraska for you and only you. We love CoB of course, but we were there for you guys! I am also in your Great Heathen Army and I love wearing your merch! Just realized this is about someone's Dottir (Daughter)
When you need a wee tonic to make you alright again in these crazy times, Týr will always deliver passionate, cultural heavy metal 🇫🇴🤘🏻 May all the gods of Asgard Raise their Horns and drink to the mighty Týr. Can't wait to yer back in #belfast #northernireland 🇬🇧🖤🤘🏻
This song is powerful, haunting, epic and beautiful. The chord progressions and chord voicings have a beautiful push and pull build and resolution that ebbs and flows with the text. I don’t know what is actually being said - but I can feel some of it ❤️ 🎶 I feel like I want this song played at my funeral before my friends have a pig roast in my honor 🍻 🐷
Vatnið rennur av høgum fjøllum Og eftir hvøssum gróti So ilt er at leggja ást við hann Ið onga leggur ímóti Dagurin líður, náttin kemur Dimmir á jørð so fríða Í morgin saðlum hestar dyst at ríða. "Tað er so vánt í tínum landi tí har er veður og vindur Nógv betri er í Noregs fjøllum tú ástir við meg bindur." Dagurin líður, náttin kemur Dimmir á jørð so fríða Í morgin saðlum hestar dyst at ríða. Fylgdi hon honum so langt á leið Til gøtur tóku at skilja "Tað, ið eg vendi aftur frá tar Tað er ei við mín vilja." Dagurin líður, náttin kemur Dimmir á jørð so fríða Í morgin saðlum hestar dyst at ríða. Turið situr í Noregs fjøllum Hon vekir harm og pínu So møðig fellur hon blóðig tár Á báðar armar sínar Dagurin líður, náttin kemur Dimmir á jørð so fríða Í morgin saðlum hestar dyst at ríða.

First hearing was a disembarking in a derelict car cross country with a friend 15 years ago.
Strong preamble to the journey, many thanks.

Why the Actual f#ck did the oringal art was croped. this proves that TH-cam is Sentitive and Tramuatized about history that isn't rightfully theirs.
