- An episode of the 1950s series "Trackdown" featured a character named "Trump" who wanted to build a wall to stop the world from ending. It's resurfaced on social media, given the parallels to today's border controversy. CBSN contributor and Signal newsletter writer Willis Sparks takes us through the uncanny similarities.
Dont forget, by 1958, Trumps father Fred was already a well known con artist. I would say this episode was probably created to showcase Fred the Con because someone well connected to the show had actually gotten conned by him.

I've heard that at the time, the episode's writer was a tenant in one of Fred Trump's properties. There was apparently some major scandal occurring involving corruption on his part. The actor does resemble Fred.

It is wildly possible that (a la Derren Brown) Donald Trump might have watched the episode when younger and it would have stuck in the back of his mind (because of the name of the character - who was probably based on Fred Trump anyway) - and it provided subliminal suggestions to him later on including why he adhered to the idea of the wall so strongly (and naming his son Barron). Trump knows he is a con man and is always giving Freudian clues to his state of mind.

I expect there wasn't a scene where Trump tells the crowd that he'll get neighboring Rock Ridge to pay for the wall, and Rock Ridge has to go out and find a s*tload of dimes.
