After that amazing fight, I forgot that the belt wasn't even on the line for Charles.
Dana was asked at the press conference if he’ll get PPV points for his next fight. Since he’s technically not champion, he might not be owed points. If not, then Oliveira definitely cares about the belt.

People care about outcomes. The 0.5 lb doesn't change the outcome. The title is just a form of symbolism. Many still view Olivera as the rightful champ even if he's been stripped.

Technically you are most likely correct. We go with eye test though - and by my eye test Charles is still the champ and as far as i can tell he will "defend" his belt in his next fight soooooo.

I agree with you, we've forgotten that most sports have rules covering almost all scenarios, based on decades of precedent to call back on.
The UFC is still in it's infancy as an actual sporting franchise. You know for a fact if there's even the possibility of someone having a championship taken away in any other sport it would be discussed ad nauseum by most sports media. For damn sure the person announcing it would know the rules (no shade to Bruce he's a legend and I'm sure made every effort to say the right thing)
It boils down to the fact that the media sucks. MMA media too.

Window Sheen is a super underrated character, should've been used more.
Just wanna say that many champions missed weight but the UFC allways allowed short cuts to them. Khabib, DC, Lesnar...
To me it is simple, from now on, or you be more tolerant with that, or you’ll be strict and no more short cuts or little helps in the weight in.
I think Oliveira does, in fact, care. As far as I understand, just possessing the belt gives you additional money, right? Also, doesn't it give you additional PPV backend money? He would be losing a great deal of money by not having the belt, as far as I can see.
Luckily for Charles Dana said he would get his PPV money for the Gaejthe fight even though he missed weight. I’m not sure if he loses 20% of that money to Justin as well as his standard purse though. If he does that has got to sting, and you’re right that he may not get PPV points on his next fight either!

1M subs, epic journey Chael... I think the first ever former MMA athlete to hit 1M subs on youtube? Is that correct? Maybe the Mac Life by Conor got there first in a way, but it's pretty rarified air regardless. No one did it by talking directly to a camera and telling stories. Kudos Chael.
1) Find out what fighters actually weigh
2) Change/move the weight classes accordingly
3) Make an official (and guarded) scale available on fight week.
4) Officially weigh fighters in the back before they walk out.
5) Fine fighters if they are up to 5 pounds over
6) Cancel fights if they are >5 pounds over.
7) If you miss weight, you lose the "fine" money, and your next fight must be at the higher weight class.
This leaves the question of dehydration. I think this one solves itself. If a fighter chooses to cut weight and enter the ring dehydrated, we only cancel the fight if they are extremely dehydrated. Fighters will not want to be cutting the day of and entering the ring dehydrated.

Tbh I think Dana just doesn’t like Oliveira because he’s too nice and doesn’t speak English. I feel bad he’s not getting paid as a champ cuz he uses most of his own money to fund his local charity organization.

How 'bout this? What if Charles, after his weigh in decided to dispute the Situation and he threw his arms up in Protest and decided not to fight that Night? He would retain the Belt right? I'm sure Dana would be furious, but if there was reasonable doubt about the scale, or all the other angles, then Charles has a right to question it.
Does the rule book specifically say that at the bell of his next fight 'Ever' he will be stripped?..., or does it specify that it's the bell of the fight he missed weight on? Or is it not clearly stated?
What if Charles was super stubborn and decided to not fight that night, and retire. Would he retire as sitting Undisputed Champion?
