I personally believe this is one of U2's greatest live "Bad" performances ever, perhaps better even than their "Live Aid" performance.
This one and the Live Aid version but this one is the clearest, best recorded version

Going to a U2 concert is like going to a revival meeting.
It is! It's an experience for sure! Seen them twice, in 2001 and 2005. Unreal how good.
The Performance of Bad by U2 at Live Aid was awesome
I was there in the audience that night. Bono went into the crowd at the 5:38 point...not sure why they switched to a blurry montage, but it was an excellent night for the band and the crowd.
I was able to meet Bono and The Edge in the wee hours after the concert, along with several other fans.
Wish I could relive that night, and am glad there is the concert film.
The video was damaged, and the production crew couldn't use it, so they had to do the slow motion
People point to their performance of this song at Live Aid as their "coming out party", but this version on Rattle & Hum is so much tighter. This is definitely a top-10 U2 song for me. It's a song about watching someone struggle with heroine addiction.

I believe Bono wrote this song about a friend of his that was addicted to Heroine.
His nickname was "Bad" and it's his little brother on the covers of "Boy" and "War"

"Bad" helped fill out side two of U2's 1984 album The Unforgettable Fire. Given the style of hat worn by The Edge, this clip appears to be an extract from the concert film Rattle & Hum that U2 released in 1988. I saw them on tour for that album and the Joshua Tree after and yes, emotional at the end, definitely.

Thanks for the video. The construction of this song is amazing. A contained intro, that easily breaks that calm, creating so kind of oneiric atmosphere. Similar to what a drug addiction begins, making you fell you are in a nice dream, but then moves without noticing, with the sound of heavy toms, then a hard voice, breaking into desperation, questioning on lyrics if you are in that dream to recognizing “I’m not sleeping”. The final part is a continuous fight to get out of that stage where the instrument request its location in the song, as a desperate scream to say “i’m wide awake”, i’m here, I’m alive… ends probably with dead after this fight trying to escape from that this drug addiction… a master piece from U2. Great example on how U2 is able transmit emotions and take you to a different place with the edge sounds and larry’s beat…
