Richard, you are one of the most selfless people I’ve stumbled across in many years! People don’t appreciate just how busy farmers are, on top of that you’re a fully committed father who spends an incredible amount of time on family oriented activities - and when the country was locked down and the NHS overwhelmed, your first thought was those most in need, again! You deserve an award! I’m utterly bemused as to why these guys aren’t subsidised on any level whatsoever, it’s outrageous - they’re an invaluable service to remote rural locations and also urban peak-hour traffic, highly under appreciated, and under valued,…. until you need one. We support our local Helimed service - people should possibly think harder next time they’re looking for a lame donkey in Rangoon to sponsor…….. I’m just saying 😬
Great finish to your sponsored ‘Shave off’, and 700,000 pennies is an amazing amount raised - belated well done Richard. Looking forward to part 2!
I’m just back from Eindhoven and hope you have calendars left - I’m off to get one shortly! Take care pal, you’re one in a million. 😉👍

I cant understand why they dont get Lottery Grants there are twenty Air Ambulance Groups in the UK I am sure that most if not all people who do the National Lottery would be happy to know that all these groups are supported by the National Lottery Grants.

Why isn't it funded? It's common for search and rescue not to be funded but air ambulance? That is unusual and unfortunate considering they're essential.

None of the Air Ambulace all around the country are funded, they are all Charities.
You mention Search and Rescue but another is the RNLI Lifeboats and Trinity House Maritime Charity who look after Light-houses amongst other things, (though Shipping does pay a levy to help with the upkeep). I agree it's baffling why something which is a necessary service should rely on donations but, I also look at how the NHS is so short of cash and yet everyone is upset at recent tax rise proposals to fund what is essential. Why isn't Air Ambulance funded? Simple- the British people would object to paying more tax to fund it. It's a no-win situation and the reality is it's beyond any government or political ability because, the public simply object to paying tax. (I'm retired NHS). In 1985 I was in Canada for a family wedding and following a mishap I got carted off to an Emergency Department to be treated. The bill for just over 2 hours came to $4000 dollars (in 1985). The bill was itemised and the ambulance alone was $2000 for picking me up, no treatment, just taking me to the Hospital. In total the ambulance callout from base back to base was probably less than 1 hour.
