Okay, you definitely need to do more videos with Aveda products. I've learned more from your videos than from the stylists at the Aveda salon in my area or from Aveda chat. I had a great Aveda stylist in CA when I lived there--here in the Northeast not so much. Thanks again Deron.

I am naturally curly - colored hair - dry and damaged.. so far i have tried out nutriplenish: awful for my hair... it gives volume/frizz, which I don’t need, it doesn’t help detangling and actually feel in my hair like when you go color your hair and they damage it to much... you can feel that damage even when they are just rinsing your hair after the color time finishes. All of that might be related to the porosity of my hair and the fact that i have color and highlights might have altered the porosity of my hair so it is a sponge and then doesn’t go well with a ‘hidrating’ product. On the other hand, I have tried the botanical repair line... OMG... it is like a spa for my hair, it gives shine and definition to my curls, it helps me with the detangling process and overall makes my hair to look healthy even though it is not as healthy these days... I have not tried the damage remedy line but I will... Note: the above observations were true from the first use and didn’t change my opinion after several uses... nutriplenish=no botanical repair=yes... from the start.
Thanks so much for sharing! It’s true there are so many hair types and textures, we all have different needs, I’m so glad Botanical Repair is working for you! 😊
I have 4c, low porosity colored/ salt & pepper hair and Damage Remedy has changed my life! I see they are bringing these new lines, but I’m scared to try anything else. Silicones or no silicones, it works! Awesome video BTW. Thank you!
Thank you! Don’t worry, Damage Remedy isn’t going anywhere. 😊 Do you go to an Aveda salon? If you have a system that works there’s no need to change it, you might like the Botanical Repair treatment with your next salon color service, and you might like Nutriplenish leave-in conditioner, but again it would more for the sake of mixing it up. (You have beautiful hair btw 😊)
@@DeronEdward hey Deron, are you still planning to do a video on silicone? Looks like you stopped 2 years ago. I really appreciate your explanation and breakdown between these different lines. 😊
@brookeb7994 thank you so much! It has been a minute since I did a TH-cam video, I’ve been spending all my time on IG, but a silicone video might be in order!
Thank you! I’ve been using the repair shampoo and did find that it didn’t have enough moisture and had some hair fall. So I stopped using it. But I did like the conditioner and leave in treatment afterwards. I feel it has made a difference in strengthening my hair and keeps the style longer n no more brittle n frizz.
Hi 👋 Thank you for such a wonderful, informative and genuinely helpful video 🙏. I'm keen to understand a little more about the Botanical Repair line and it would be great to hear your thoughts on the below... 1. Is the Botanical Repair (BR) in-salon- treatment Activator + Additive, a protein treatment? 2. Could you share, the maximum frequency a customer should have the BR in-salon--treatment mentioned above? 3. Is it possible to over-treat hair with the Aveda Botanical Repair in-salon-treatment? 4. To treat high porosity, bleached, heat damaged hair; does the following regimen sound reasonable? Every two weeks: A) BR strengthening shampoo B) Nutriplenish (NP) conditioner- Deep C) In salon BR treatment Daily use of BR leave-in-conditioner and nutriplenish multi oil. Many thanks!
Hi MJ! First, no Botanical Repair does not contain any protein in any of the products, retail or professional. You can't over treat with Botanical Repair. I'm sure every 2 weeks is perfectly fine for a professional treatment, but you might do alright with every 4 weeks as well. And if I understand correctly, yes I would start with the BR Shampoo but using a conditioner like Nutriplenish before the professional treatment would make it less effective. I would follow the treatment with your hydrating products. For you daily, the leave-in and the oil is great, just apply the leave-in first :)
Hey@@DeronEdward ! Thank you so much, you have saved me from wasting a lot of time and a lot of money! Going forward, I think I'll use my nutriplenish (NP) conditioner as a co-wash and only use it with other NP products. I'll reserve the Botanical Repair (BR) in- salon-treatment for days where I exclusively use just BR product So likely to have a regimen of 2x per month NP and 2x per month BR. Thank you so much, your advice and guidance is invaluable 🙏

I’ve been using Botanical Repair shampoo/conditioner, Nutriplenish leave in, mouse, and a combination of a serum and anti-humectant pomade. I bought the travel size of the bond builder and am wondering where it fits into this regimen? If you have other suggestions I’d love to hear them!
I’m so glad you found it helpful! I love the bond building cream, I would add that after your nutriplenish leave in. It does offer some smoothing, you might find you don’t need as much of the serum and pomade but you’ll have to test it out 😁 let me know how it goes!
Nice video. You get right to the point and present concise information. Is it possible to make an appointment with an Aveda stylist just for a hair evaluation? I don’t want a cut just advice on products based on my hair condition.

But my biggest concern it that it breaks and fall out alot, any suggestions?
Eli thanks so much for the kind words! I’d definitely recommend the Invati system for your shampoo/conditioner/scalp treatment, and a good hydrating protective leave in like the Nutriplenish Daily Moisturizing Treatment!
Hi, can you please advise me (50 yrs). I have blond, frizzy, curly hair. Very dry. My hair is very different (uncombable hair syndrome). I have used Damage Remedy for years, now I have used the Curly line shampoo and conditioner for the last year. Love and always need the Curl enhancer. But I feel the curly shampoo and conditioner are not enough. I want to choose between Nurtiplenish or Botanical. Or go back to Damage remedy. I get highlights about once every 8 to10 months. I wash once a week and only comb then.
Hello! Its a tough call without seeing and feeling your hair myself, but my best guess is to go with Nutriplenish Deep Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, and using the Nutriplenish Daily Moisture Treatment (Aveda's best detangler) before you apply the Curl Enhancer, rather than Botanical Repair. If you are only highlighting once a year you might not be getting the full benefit from Botanical Repair, and curls tend to love Nutriplenish.
@@DeronEdward Thank you so much! Of course a tough call without seeing my hair, but I am very happy with the advise. I will buy the Nutriplenish deep moisture and see what it will do.
Hi Deron! I do have a fabulous hairdresser who worked for Aveda for many years. She is Nanci Lee Randolph and is in West Hollywood but I still love information gathering on my own... just because I love all things health and beauty! Your videos are fantastic! I love how funny and informative you are! I have been using Aveda since I was 22 years old and Horst still owned it. I love Damage Remedy and Nutriplenish. I do need the moisture but I also have fine hair but lots of it. I haven't tried the Botanical Repair yet but am thinking that it might be good for a once or twice a month treatment. I am thinking I will use the Nutriplenish leave-in conditioner afterwards and am hoping that that will be fine. I will definitely discuss with Nanci next time I see her. Just FYI, I have actually been using a small amount of the Daily Leave-In Treatment then spritzing three pumps of the Leave-In Conditioner and blending them in my hands. The cream is so heavy and thinning it out with the spray-in condition thins it out, making it so much easier to apply and it offers just that little bit of a bump up in hydration and my hair is soooo happy! I have lots of wave and no dryness whatsoever! Love it! Thanks for all the great info and great energy! Are you in Illinois?
Hi Trish! Thank you for sharing your Aveda story and for the kind words! I’m so glad you are enjoying the nutriplenish line, I love your hack for mixing the leave in with the daily treatment 😊 If you are going to incorporate Botanical Repair I would suggest one of the masks, the new overnight serum might also be a great option. Yes! Douglas J has a Salonspa in Okemos, I’m at the institute in East Lansing. And yes Doug was a visionary, I never got to meet him sadly. I went to the East Lansing institute as a student so it’s a big part of my journey 😊
I would use a good deep cleansing shampoo like Brilliant or Rosemary mint, lather well, shampoo a second time and leave the suds on for 10 minutes , then condition with Nutriplenish or something without protein 😊
You can use it daily, it’s definitely on the deep cleansing end of the spectrum so I might not recommend Brilliant daily if you color your hair, but it’s perfectly safe 😊
Some people avoid products with silicone, I’m working on a video to explain 😊 I don’t think there are valid toxicity concerns, but some people find silicone impacts how their hair behaves, which is possible. Wow thank you for the request! 😍 This is such an awesome video idea, I’ve honestly never thought about it, but you’ve got my gears turning, I’m going to work on this definitely 😊😊🙏🏻
In principle, although my understanding is they deal with two distinct chemical bonds in the hair, and Botanical Repair repairs all three layers of the hair where Olaplex focuses on one
Hello! I have long, straight, fine and bleached hair. they are quite dry and damaged but not excessively. I am using the nutriplenish line but I would also like to include a product to repair the damage. which one do you suggest? Thanks 😍
Awesome video! :) I have long, straight + natural hair and so far I thought my hair is in pretty good shape. But the hairdresser said I have open hair shafts - would that be a type for botanical repair? She recommended me another brand but I'd like to stick to Aveda. I usually use Sap Moss Shampoo + Conditioner but no masks or leave-ins.
Thank you! I’m curious what your hairdresser meant by open hair shafts? You said your hair is straight, does it get frizz easily? Is your hair chemically treated/colored?
Ah I think my translation was wrong! She meant the hair cuticle is open. It’s not chemically treatened or coloured and it maybe is a tiny bit frizzy but not much! :)
I have no idea why my hair started to have some breakage, frizz and lacking moisture ( one issue lead into another which lead to another I'm guessing) I definitely need to strengthening my hair. I will try the Botanical line , but I do need to add hydration back into my hair. What mask does Aveda have to offer for fine hair and giving my hair decent hydration? Not unless you can suggest something fit for my hair mess lol. BTW my hair is not color treated.
Actually the Invati Intensive Hair and Scalp Masque is great for hydrating, thickening and strengthening, it has some of the bond multiplying molecule from Botanical Repair 😊
@@DeronEdward That's great! I will try the Botanical shampoo & conditioner with the Invati Hair and Scalp Mask and the leave-in Nutriplenish and that should give my hair what it needs, I hope. Thank you! Keep up with your channel here on You Tube, your a blessing.
Damage Remedy is in the process of being discontinued, I would try Botanical Repair! You could the shampoo and conditioner, the leave in treatment (leave in conditioner) or even one of the masks once a week as treatment!
Sap Moss would be the moist lightweight moisturizing option, it isn’t as deep penetration as Nutriplenish though. If your hair is damaged from chemical processing you might like Nutriplenish Deep Moisture. If it isn’t chemically damaged Sap Moss might work though. Can you tell me the nature of your hair damage?
@@DeronEdward I have lightened hair so it's very dry and inflexible not quite brittle but almost. I know I need to get a big haircut but I want to wait until fall so I can wear it down. I'm just trying to make it as soft and moisturised as I can.
Thanks Rai! I’m a big believer in regular salon visits to prevent split ends, but there are definitely things you can do at home to help prevent them, you struggle with split ends?
That probably has a lot to do with it, do you live somewhere where salons are open? Getting a trim is the best thing you can do, after that I might use the Nutriplenish Multi use Oil overnight to reduce friction on your needs while you sleep. And of course Botanical Repair is going to help tremendously, which products from BR did you get?
My Aveda owner had me get the nutraplenish shampoo and the botanical repair conditioner. He said this would give me moisture and repair without proteins. He said too much protein can damage hair worse...mine is pretty broken and damaged.
Too much protein can definitely make the hair brittle, I think damage remedy has a good balance of protein but sometimes we want to over do it. I’d love to hear how your new combo works out for you!
You did a great job with explaining the product lines and keeping it simple. Thanks.

Is botanical repair similar to olaplex?
In principle, although my understanding is they deal with two distinct chemical bonds in the hair, and Botanical Repair repairs all three layers of the hair where Olaplex focuses on one
@@DeronEdward thanks for the quick response.
Hello! I have long, straight, fine and bleached hair. they are quite dry and damaged but not excessively. I am using the nutriplenish line but I would also like to include a product to repair the damage. which one do you suggest? Thanks 😍
Which products from nutriplenish are you using?
@@DeronEdward all of them... shampoo, masque, conditioner, leave in and oil
The Botanical Repair Overnight Serum would make a good addition!
Awesome video! :)
I have long, straight + natural hair and so far I thought my hair is in pretty good shape.
Ahhh, if it isn’t color treated you might not really need a mask, but you could try the botanical repair leave in treatment!
@@DeronEdward thank you!
My hair gets oily quick but the bottom part is dry and I lose a bunch of hair during showers which Aveda products would you recommend?
I’d recommend the Invati Light shampoo with the Invati Conditioner, possibly the Invati Masque for your ends, you can find them here: aveda.me/XMN9M
How to use Aveda damage remedy plz tell me
Damage Remedy is in the process of being discontinued, I would try Botanical Repair! You could the shampoo and conditioner, the leave in treatment (leave in conditioner) or even one of the masks once a week as treatment!
So for fine hair? Already using Invati. I highlight my my hair, shoulder length.
If you want to stick with Invati, the in salon botanical repair professional treatment would be great, or the light masque every other week
I have damaged fizzi low porosity and thin long hair what should chose help me
Botanical Repair for sure! It’ll strengthen and help with the frizz, I’d also look at the Botanical Repair Bond Building Styling Creme!
How does sap moss shampoo compare to nutriplenish? My hair is damaged but it hates heavy protein etc.
Nutriplenish Deep then for sure, I might also check out the Nutriplenish Daily Moisturizing Treatment too 😊
@@DeronEdward thanks
Why did you stop making videos?
Thank you for asking… I pivoted to reels, but I’ve been missing TH-cam , what would you like to see??
Silicone video please
Oh man it’s comin but I gotta something else I gotta do first 😉
First of all Love ur video.!!! 💙
Can u plzz make a video about treating split ends too🥲
Thanks Rai! I’m a big believer in regular salon visits to prevent split ends, but there are definitely things you can do at home to help prevent them, you struggle with split ends?
@@DeronEdward yess recently i am having trouble with spilt ends and super dry hair🥺 i just bought botanical repair
Awesome! That will definitely help, is your hair super long? How long has it been since your last trim?
@@DeronEdward the last time I trimmed my hair was like a year i guess!!! 🤭🤭🤭
