  • element14.com/tbhs - Ben has used his Agilent handheld oscilloscope many times to troubleshoot projects and was curious what he could do with some of the other scopes out there. He takes a trip to Madison Area Technical College to visit their electronics lab and get his hands on the high end scopes they have. He has three problems he's looking to solve with help from the oscilloscopes.
    Visit element14.com/tbhs for a chance to win a Tektronix TBS1000B oscilloscope.

    Tripped over this channel while I was wandering about the internet looking for a good time. Enjoyment ensued. Sub obtained. Job done.

    Gosh that was wholesome ☺️ Particularly funny how he mentions the “dot clock” is doing 16 PWM levels through the shift registers, as that’s something I’ve just been considering whether it’s feasible (or settle with binary display when employing shift registers). Trust Ben to actually drive hardware and make it hum as it was intended 😂

    Great oscilloscope walk-through. I wish oscilloscopes were more affordable for hobbyists :)

    The Gabotronics Scope is really useful especially when connected to a Mac or PC for a full screen and full function scope/Logic Analyzer/Waveform Generator. Highly recommended.

    I remember I had one of those old Heathkit oscilloscope when I was younger. I never got a chance to use it though because of the CRT was dead in it. so it's a kind of a bummer I never got a chance to really get into it and use it.

    You should try to create another 3D printer out of only (mostly) salvaged parts from printer. May printers don't have stepper motors and now use other components such as linear encoders and the DC motors!

    It's pretty funny, I got back into electronics and microprocessor programming last winter before I bought a scope. I used a tiny2313 in assembly, and wanted to move a servo, so to calculate the PWM I counted clock cycles. I got it working, but bought a scope a couple of weeks later and hooked it up to look at the frequency... that would have been a lot quicker. lol

    Also, lol at the Archer reference at the end.

    Here is a tip for you ben: You can enter a USB device and export all the data of the waves as a *.CSV \ *.TXT file for better measurment and use, i've done it many times in my academic labs.

    So, the Atari's vector number (1FFE)... I understand that it equals (2^13)-2, but what does that represent exactly? Why is it 13 bits (as opposed to say: 8 or 16), and why is it not a full 8192?

  • @network_king

    Could be cool get an old cisco router, or switch, and look at boot. I remember i was getting a cisco cert everything i saw said know how to reset password. Cpmpared to most network stuff, it's a rather complex procedure. enter a special diagnostic mode, change the memory value so it skips the login part, reset it go in change the login, then change the register back. Had i not watched somehting on youtube where sombody hacked past a password on an IC i don't think would have made mmuch since.

    If you're getting started in electronics and want an O-scope to play with, get a used 20MHz analog scope from E-Bay. Some schools even give them away. Those DSO Nanos are garbage.

      +Tom Brannan Well, I wouldn't expect it to be cheap with it's age and the parts it uses to even function like it does anyways. Lmao
      Even the description specifies them being extremely expensive and high end.

    • @grame141
      @grame141 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +prizedcoffeecup Age has nothing to do with it, it's more like the accuracy, measuring capacity, sample rate, features and build quality. There are new and old oscilloscopes that can vary in value from hundreds to thousands.
