Whoa whoa whoa!!!! I'm not sure you've done your homework on Florida. You must think of Florida as Miami. Not everywhere is Miami. Florida is a BIG state. LOL As a matter of fact, those from NW Florida consider everything south of Tampa, New York and we get called LA-- Lower Alabama. We have no state income taxes. About the crime, we have high crime only on a small strip during Spring Break. However, this year, they quit serving alcohol period during Spring Break and had a very tight curfew because we had a criminal element coming from another state these past few years that were NOT college students. Hopefully, that sends a message as we are working on this problem as tourism is our lifeblood.
We DO have humidity, large mosquitoes. terrible drivers and every road is being worked on it seems due to explosive growth.

Syl was one of the few creators who basked on the glory of his own creation. Even if there are times he doubted his work but still he pursued it made him one of the legends. His work came from his real life experiences, the emotion he put to it. I just miss the old time of watching a movie and just enjoying the story of it. A movie just have to be a movie. Nothing involved.

It's sad California is such a beautiful place. I grew up in AZ so wasn't that long of a drive to go up to San Diego or L.A. San Fran took more time but well worth it. What taxes are so bad in Florida? We have sales tax in some areas 7.5% now, some are lower, I think it is around 6.5% in St. Augustine. There is no state income tax and we have property tax at 0.82%, like everything else it is different in each state, there are only 5 states with no sales taxes. Unlike Georgia that has sales, state income, property and federal income tax. Maybe self employed or business taxes?

Nice that people in Hollywood are speaking out against Woke is some way, but Stallone is a bit old in my opinion to have a huge impact. We need young performers like Matt Rife for example to call people out on this BS woke cancel culture. It's not really that hard for everyone to exist, be represented, and still not give up freedom of artistic expression. If you must make a statement, then hit up the news, podcast, or make a documentary talking about the facts of your particular issues. Keep it out of entertainment/art in general.

I don't doubt it. Our beaches have attracted a group of "spring breakers" who've been coming in a ransacking Walmart on the beach for some reason. These are not college students, they are the "hundred-milers" who for the past few years have flooded the beaches along NW FL during those few months. Destroying beachfront mansions they rent out and have huge house parties that turn into murder and mayhem, bringing drugs, sexual assaults etc. However, our commissioners have been tightening up ordinances each year til this year, they stopped serving alcohol and had an extremely tight curfew. I don't think it's fair to our college spring breakers but as a parent, I would not want my child here while that was going on. Things went much better this year, hopefully the message was sent and we can somehow keep the bad element at bay for our college kids.

California is terrible? A large majority of the central valley and foothills are very nice places to reside. All of our towns are supported by farming/agriculture. We grow over 400 different crops with over 75K independent farmers all organic/gmo free. California farmers bring in over 50 billion annually. The bay area and LA is a very small part of California. The foothills of California produce over 2 billion annually just in growing flowers.

Stallone is and should be free to express his opinion, and trying to blacklist anyone for an opinion is a bad thing to do.
But I can't sign off on his statements about his set - what we get here gives us no insight into the working conditions on Stallone's set so it's impossible to say if he's being fair in his position, or if he's just lashing out because he can't just do whatever he wants.
Overall, we need to STOP looking to icons, new or old, because they have nothing in common with us. They don't care about us. And I see no evidence to suggest that Stallone is actually any different. I'm not mad at him for being rich and having an opinion, but I'm disappointed that so many people turn to him and his class for guidance and advocacy when it's all just part of the attention economy.
And MrLloyd, I think you're starting to be guilty of the same thing - fishing for attention rather than making meaningful commentary. And I think that because of your bombastic encouragement to leave California. Leaving isn't a solution to making a place better. It's only a way to spread your problems around. People should move for a positive - a new job, a new opportunity, new family - rather than run away from the negative. Unless it's violence that's upon you, that's cowardice.
