People don't seem to realize that here in America, free medical care is available for those who don't have any jobs, have low income, or don't have health insurance in general. In fact, it's illegal to not have Healthcare. That's why medicaid exists. Medicaid offers FREE medical care, dental care, and vision care. Additionally, each state also has their own healthcare marketplace that allows people to buy plans at a specific rate from insurance carriers available in their state. It sucks that more people don't know about this. At the same time, it's annoying how people assume that America is a cruel nation that doesn't provide health coverage to its citizens. Help is readily available.

@@guyanomaly idk i think its pretty obvious what he's getting at. it was basically his first insight into what life is like for ppl who arent perfectly healthy, which can be very influential to a child who doesnt know any better. its not about the extremeness of the condition, its about being made aware of something for the first time and so it being easiest to recall i mean personally i have never met anyone with diabetes but i knew someone in a wheelchair when i was 7 and that has stuck with me forever since it was the first time i realised not everyones lives were as easy as mine.

Right before he told us he was away from school for like 3 weeks which is about an eternity when you’re that little, and after he was diagnosed he was absent a lot and got sick often. Sure, he’s fine and relatively healthy but that doesn’t mean it didn’t leave a mark. And no not everybody has dead or sick relatives lol, for me it’s only my grandma and she died before I was born.
Fun fact: international students can work through their school WITHOUT A WORK VISA. There are countless on-campus jobs she could get. But something tells me she hasn’t even looked 🤷🏼♀️

I don’t understand why people dismiss the multiple jobs argument. No one wants to work 4 jobs, so if they are that means those jobs are not well paying. Nobody dismisses the multiple jobs argument. She literally said that she would use the money mostly to save up for a house for her mom. Which means that she does not need the money desperately if the first thing she brings up is to save it instead of spending it on missing rent or food.

From my experience, back in 2012, I wasn't allowed to work on a student visa, not even for the student jobs at the university itself. I had to hoard money every summer, but hey, at least your alcohol was cheap, so it wasn't all bad.
Just wanted to use this as an opportunity to throw this out there: As someone who was diagnosed with celiac as an adult, as much as I think that guy’s other answers were iffy lol, I get where he is coming from with the food thing- and I also will say I didn’t truly understand how serious this disease was or the measures it takes to stay safe when you have it until I was diagnosed (and still don’t expect my non celiac friends to truly get it). But I will say groceries for celiac folks are significantly more expensive, and if you ever want to eat out or grab food at a bar you’re at your options are super duper limited. It’s more than an intolerance or allergy, it’s autoimmune and even a trace amount through cross contamination affects your organs. It can be hard because once you’re celiac, it can be difficult because no one really understands the seriousness of it
Hi, fellow nursing student here. That doesn't sound easy to deal with, especially when others don't understand your situation sometimes. Def surround urself w people who understand your difficulties better and try to stay calm if people bug you. I can only imagine how annoying that must be but at the end of the day, that is going to be a common occurrence so just stay as calm as u can. Its ur life, not there's, so don't get urself too stressed up. Dont give a f about peoples options and try to live ur life the best u can w the best of ur capabilities.

Cody- as a college student with Celiac disease, it honestly is really expensive, my grocery bills are much higher than my friends and I try to avoid specialty ready made GF products. European countries give Celiacs a monthly stipend to supplement the cost of GF products actually.
Potatoes and rice are some of the cheapest starches. Y’all are wild. I save so much money being gluten and dairy free. You don’t need to eat bread to get carbs and you don’t need to drink milk to get vitamin D and calcium. It’s better for you to avoid the (often) chemical-ridden “alternatives” anyway.

Celiac is actually pretty hard to live with food wise, food is really expensive that's safe and any contact with gluten can be harmful so you have to be very careful with what you eat
those are part time jobs and she probably has a normal load of work everyday. also she saves up for a house, which is very different from needing money for family. they also mentioned she lives in an expensive apartment near campus. she just wanted some extra cash and got defensive, thats why everyone were against her

People don't seem to realize that here in America, free medical care is available for those who don't have any jobs, have low income, or don't have health insurance in general. In fact, it's illegal to not have Healthcare. That's why medicaid exists. Medicaid offers FREE medical care, dental care, and vision care.
Additionally, each state also has their own healthcare marketplace that allows people to buy plans at a specific rate from insurance carriers available in their state. It sucks that more people don't know about this. At the same time, it's annoying how people assume that America is a cruel nation that doesn't provide health coverage to its citizens. Help is readily available.

i mean personally i have never met anyone with diabetes but i knew someone in a wheelchair when i was 7 and that has stuck with me forever since it was the first time i realised not everyones lives were as easy as mine.

Right before he told us he was away from school for like 3 weeks which is about an eternity when you’re that little, and after he was diagnosed he was absent a lot and got sick often. Sure, he’s fine and relatively healthy but that doesn’t mean it didn’t leave a mark. And no not everybody has dead or sick relatives lol, for me it’s only my grandma and she died before I was born.
Fun fact: international students can work through their school WITHOUT A WORK VISA. There are countless on-campus jobs she could get. But something tells me she hasn’t even looked 🤷🏼♀️

I don’t understand why people dismiss the multiple jobs argument. No one wants to work 4 jobs, so if they are that means those jobs are not well paying. More than likely each of those jobs is minimum or below minimum wage, meaning they need all of them to meet their financial minimums. It’s not like each of those are 20k a year plus benefits

Nobody dismisses the multiple jobs argument. She literally said that she would use the money mostly to save up for a house for her mom. Which means that she does not need the money desperately if the first thing she brings up is to save it instead of spending it on missing rent or food.

From my experience, back in 2012, I wasn't allowed to work on a student visa, not even for the student jobs at the university itself. I had to hoard money every summer, but hey, at least your alcohol was cheap, so it wasn't all bad.

Just wanted to use this as an opportunity to throw this out there: As someone who was diagnosed with celiac as an adult, as much as I think that guy’s other answers were iffy lol, I get where he is coming from with the food thing- and I also will say I didn’t truly understand how serious this disease was or the measures it takes to stay safe when you have it until I was diagnosed (and still don’t expect my non celiac friends to truly get it). But I will say groceries for celiac folks are significantly more expensive, and if you ever want to eat out or grab food at a bar you’re at your options are super duper limited. It’s more than an intolerance or allergy, it’s autoimmune and even a trace amount through cross contamination affects your organs. It can be hard because once you’re celiac, it can be difficult because no one really understands the seriousness of it
Hi, fellow nursing student here. That doesn't sound easy to deal with, especially when others don't understand your situation sometimes. Def surround urself w people who understand your difficulties better and try to stay calm if people bug you. I can only imagine how annoying that must be but at the end of the day, that is going to be a common occurrence so just stay as calm as u can. Its ur life, not there's, so don't get urself too stressed up. Dont give a f about peoples options and try to live ur life the best u can w the best of ur capabilities.

Four jobs is really not that crazy when some of them are contract jobs though. I had 3-4 part-time jobs at once throughout my entire MA program but some were just 6-10 hours a week, it's really not that complicated
Yeah but it’s not really the same as working 4 jobs especially since it seems like she’s not working all 4 jobs every week. I have 3 to 4 “jobs” as well but I only tell people I have 2 jobs because those are the jobs I do every week.
Yeah but people that say oh I work so incredibly hard because I work 5 jobs is dumb because exactly what you pointed out, most of those jobs are better classified as paid hobbies or side hustles. Only 24 hours in a day and 2-3 jobs can fill it up just as much as 10

tbh i dont consider contract jobs as jobs. unless there are a sceduled number of hours worked per week it makes it kind of hard to assess a persons availability based off of that.
Girl #2 really kept playing the VISA card as if being an international student isn’t expensive enough yet she’s able to afford it, is getting covered by her family (already seting you up extremely well), while also still being to get help from the college because A LOT of colleges offer jobs and help to those who are international students….

The guy who won definitely played everyone. He was talking about how homegirl probably cant make 4 jobs work, but only works part time while his mom sends him money. Then takes that money and literally gives it away. Considering the fact that employers are incentivized to hire only part time, its plausible that someone works 4 times to compensate for the benefits of one.
Was also thinking of his parents pay his rent then do they really have him sending money for medical expenses

The fact he is able to lie about such a huge personal matter and knows it is being posted to everyone on the internet is dangerous, and even more dangerous because he is extremely stupid thinking people will believe him. Cody- as a college student with Celiac disease, it honestly is really expensive, my grocery bills are much higher than my friends and I try to avoid specialty ready made GF products. European countries give Celiacs a monthly stipend to supplement the cost of GF products actually.

Potatoes and rice are some of the cheapest starches. Y’all are wild. I save so much money being gluten and dairy free. You don’t need to eat bread to get carbs and you don’t need to drink milk to get vitamin D and calcium. It’s better for you to avoid the (often) chemical-ridden “alternatives” anyway.

@@a.m.b.e.rthat’s great for you that you made that lifestyle choice, for others though it is an auto immune disease that they did not choose to have. so many foods are not possible for celiacs: cakes, pasta, bread, anything made with a roux etcetc. and they should be able to have these things if they want just like people without this disease
Celiac is actually pretty hard to live with food wise, food is really expensive that's safe and any contact with gluten can be harmful so you have to be very careful with what you eat

those are part time jobs and she probably has a normal load of work everyday. also she saves up for a house, which is very different from needing money for family. they also mentioned she lives in an expensive apartment near campus. she just wanted some extra cash and got defensive, thats why everyone were against her

As someone with celiac I can verify that it’s not *just* bread. This dude-bro is dumb tho, gf bread is not $15 (not even the gf Amish homemade lol). Sure, it’s more money but it’s not that much money. I survived at my college by getting 2 jobs and was able to buy fruits, veggies, and other things. I couldn’t eat in the cafeteria like everyone else because most of, if not all, the food was contaminated. That’s not how I wanna go out, I don’t want freaking flour to take me out. Imagine that tombstone “taken out by flour.”
