Snap options in Reaper are overwhelmingly powerful. I am so glad i found this tut which explains it all very clear. Much settings were confusing for me now but now i understand all those settings way better. Much appreciated Kenny !! Warm regards from Holland.
I had no idea how the "Show dotted grid lines" button worked until I watched this video, honestly you guys are lifesavers!! It was just too much to get my head around until you came along
dont know if anyone cares but if you guys are stoned like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the new series on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend for the last couple of months :)
I don't know why, but my media items don't snap to the time selection beginning/ending; I've done everything like you showed in the video... and they snap to cursor and markers...
serious question here how come when he drops a marker and option menu doesnt pop up asking what color you want it and what to name it how do i make that option menu always popping up
This is almost only about snapping. That's all very easy and intuitive. I'd like to know more about the grid. For example, how do I make 1.1.00 start, say, 200ms into the track? (Let's say I want the first beat to be at 1.1.00, but I don't want to lose the 200ms that comes just before that.) How do I change the grid size/bpm in the middle of the song?
I enjoy writing, singing/rapping to hip hop music but I'm also a parent who doesn't have a lot of free time so I'm constantly having to pick up were I left off. I'll loop and record a single verse 4 to 6 times. Then I'll split up the verses into sections phrase per phrase. I'll listen to each phrase. track by track then Frankenstein my best takes together into a single track. ok, Question 1- say I did 4 takes and made 12 splits but out of them 4 takes. I'm only some what happy with 1 of them. So, the next day I try again and do another 4 to 6 takes. Is there a way to split my new tracks at the same points as my other tracks with out having to manually click and create new splits on new tracks? I know you can select multiple tracks and a split will apply to all the tracks you've selected but how to I duplicate old splits to new tracks? 2nd question. Is there a shortcut to make the play curser jump to the begining of each split? 3.) Is there a quick way to create a time selection based on splits? So I can loop and listen to a section over and over. 4.) how do you snap to a split?
YES!! I don´t know why I haven´t watched this video earlier, but this Really (!!!) is the most helpful video so far, I think. I have checked out Ableton Live lately, and it really is a great program. But, SO IS REAPER! It is so custom-able, it is almost too much. And I haven´t even started with the actions yet.
My recorded items have a little fade in by default, and when snapping that fading in part goes to the previous bar, and I have to zoom in and snap it to the exact position. Is there a solution for this?

I wish this guy was my teacher for all my boring classes. Liven things up a little with his chill teaching style. Gooood work, and thank you :]
"Living thing up" and "Chill" seem like opposites to me, but maybe we have different worldly views! XD
Nah man. Cheech does both
Thanks for all these tutorials, you are truly a great teacher! I'm lovin' Reaper thanks to you!

@Keegan Khalid yea, I've been using instaflixxer for since december myself :D
@Keegan Khalid Yea, been using instaflixxer for years myself :)
I wish I watched this in 2013. Could have saved me probably a year or two of fiddling with snap.
Awesome Kenny, thanks! Learnt several new things here.
Is there any way to make the snap/grip automatic with the zoom? Like Ableton...
Media snap, mouse dependent also snaps both ends if you drag from the center of the media item.
I did not know this. Thanks

These videos are a godsend, thanks legend!
Oh snap, this video was dope!
Great explanation Kenny, as always!!

dumb question but what does the T mean 1/4T or 1/8T etc...?

The 'show dotted grid lines' option is not listed in the Grid Settings Dialog Box in version 5.983 x64

How do I move the audio region using the keyboard, as in Pro tools?
my version of reaper says its the latest version but there is no "show dotted grid lines" selection????
How do you create the markers at 10:17 ?
Shift M, or clicking on the the time bar: right-click>insert marker
My recorded items have a little fade in by default, and when snapping that fading in part goes to the previous bar, and I have to zoom in and snap
it to the exact position. Is there a solution for this?
Turn off the option for the fades to be created in the Media Item Defaults preferences
Some of the menus look different now like snap/grid settings.
Bravo!!! Iwas stuck with that thank
Wow....
