Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game is an epic adventure game set in the world of Rivellon. Up to 4 players take their heroes on a branching, narrative adventure, filled with tactical combat and meaningful choices.
Players read from a story book and decide as a team where to go and how to respond to the world around them. Depending on the characters’ traits and abilities, they might have unique options available to them during the specific story sections.
Story choices direct players to explore locations. Then players place a unique set of cards around the game board. Every member of the party must choose which area to visit. Both the story and the artwork for the locations may discover clues of what to expect. Each player picks up their location card. Some reward your curiosity by rewarding with new treasure or recipe ingredients. Then again, some locations will have traps or lead into combat.
Combat plays out over a number of rounds where players and monsters take turns acquiring action points (AP) and use them to move around, use items, and perform skills. Players use the skills they acquire throughout the game to perform unique and powerful attacks, some with additional elemental effects. Most skills require some cooldown time before they can be used again, so choosing which skills to use when is of critical importance.
The iconic elemental interactions of Divinity Original Sin are here! Make a monster wet, so another player can hit it with ice to freeze it solid and keep it from acting. Or maybe your ally hits the enemy with lightning to make it stunned! Creating combinations is a must to ensure victory against the most challenging of enemies. Watch out though, because enemies can create combinations as well.
Thanks to the Chronicle System, the choices you make will impact not just your own story, but the future of the Divinity Original Sin universe. This game is based on the award-winning Divinity Original Sin II video game by Larian Studios.

In the world of Rivellon - Undead are a race unto their own and not necessarily evil. Just don't get them stuck in to trying to understand their existence - they may have an existential crisis and fall apart. (It's a running joke dating back to the first 2002 game, Divine Divinity)
Thanks for making this video! I am making some sound scape narration content for the board game as well as 3D printing my own miniatures for all the enemies. This gives me a little more information before the game gets to me, so I can get ahead of schedule a little more.
So hyped for this one, I am totally for designers admitting they see a flaw in their game. I'd rather have a good late game (rests to be seen of course) than a mediocre one on time.

The skeletal cat has a Squirrel riding it. He's an NPC that follows you around in the video game.
As for the barrels, in the games they have a purpose in that some explode, others contain poison clouds, etc. I'm guessing you're going to see the same thing in the board game
The barrels are a hold over from the original design of the game,when we had a whole system for environmental damage. As they had already been produced before it was scrapped they have made it into the gamebox anyways. The original stretch goal was at $1.1 million and it had 4 barrels and 40 tokens to modify the battlefield with explosive results.
Ahh, the good old days of Divinity before it became something entirely different to what we pledged for..
I did the all in at the end of 2019 and after waiting so long I don't mind a few spoilers. I just want to finally see a bit of the artworks. Thanks for showing.
I absolutely love the Divinity Original Sin 2 pc game and have invested around 130 hours on it in a single campaign. This board game adaptation is super expensive though, looking forward to the gameplay to know if it is worth thinking about grabbing a copy
Just a note to commenters, as I have seen this several times - at the beginning of the video, Alex says clearly that this is a review copy, not his pledge (which he cancelled and got a refund). Thus, pledges have not actually arrived yet, these are early production copies that Larian is sending to reviewers, in anticipation of official release. Thus, the odds are pledges will arrive before retail copies are available.
And for the record, I am not trying to be apologetic about Larian. I should have cancelled my pledge as well, I was just too busy when details about the new design started coming out, and I did not pay enough attention (entirely my fault). I also don't really remember what was the exact pledge I made - probably all-in, but since the original crowdfunding campaign was 4 years ago, it is normal not to remember any more. Anyway, let's hope this is at least half as good as the video games, otherwise it will be a waste of cardboard, plastic and money ...
Another Note - Nemesis is the setting of the second Divinity game, Beyond Divinity
I am still (was a bumpy road) a kickstarter and wanted to see how the result is and I must say: Yes you do ramble :)
The little guys that you said were the same should represent different elements, so the coloring should be different (blood, ice, fire, poison, electricity, earth, regular and I can’t remember if there was a necrotic one).

It is from Larian, it will probably be just amazing. That company seriously does a lot of work to improve and polish their player experiences for their CRPGs.
Larian's new claim to fame for their CRPGs is how much of a sandbox their games can be. Plots and combat are full of surprises and twists that lesser games can only dream of. If they can translate even part of that feeling, this will be special.
Oh yeah, chickens can be enemies. More likely they are enemies that you have turned into chickens with a spell. That NEVER gets old, especially when you do it to a boss. (The chance of a chicken spell affecting a boss is miniscule, but it CAN happen.
I ended up cancelling this one. It looked good, then they changed nearly everything, so I cancelled - it wasn't what I backed anymore. Hindsight it looks far, far better than the original pitch, but my shelves are also bursting with other things, so I guess I'll survive.
I’m so glad I didn’t know kickstarter existed when this was on there so I didn’t have to wait for forever for this to come out. I am biased in thinking this will be an amazing game because the video game is one of if not my favorite
I very nearly backed this one, as I have played the computer games. I think that just too many campaign games put me off. Definitely interested to see the play through to see what I missed out on, and whether it will make me chase down a 2nd hand copy.

I backed Divinity Original Sin: Extended Edition. I thought I would never got this. Now I'm hyped and lucky i did not asked for a refud. Any idea what pledge this is ? What is exactly included in the Extended Edition pledge ? Because it has changed so much ... (i had metal coins and draw bags etc...) did not see them in your video....
I'll be interested to see how this one is. I am a fan of the series, though I was unimpressed overall about the "Original Sin" portion of the series - I preferred Divinity 2. I backed this all in, but when they got rid of the team that was working on it and completely changed the game, I was not enthused by the new team or the previewed changes so asked for a refund. I am a little surprised that it got to delivery with how it was being run.
I pledged this and got it refunded too, kinda for the same reason. Project seemed to not make much progress, not update (like months in between) I lost confidence
I still have the Divinity games from GOG and I haven't played a one. I've got too many games...

I think Larian is giving all the backers everything.. Even though I paid the highest pledge to get everything. I could have paid the smallest amount to get the same stuff.
@@ItsBrodyI agree that backers are likely getting all of the minis, regardless of their pledge level. However, the Haunted Keep and Nemesis expansions are not included with the Standard and Premium pledge levels.

Hard to see in the video or at least I couldnt find it, but I saw that we get to play some of the DoS2 origin characters in the tutorial ? Do we get to playa s them after as well, or brand new origins instead ? I'd kill to play a board game campaign as Fane.
Their are 8 total origin characters you can play as. Fane is one of them. and their are 4 new characters.

100% in the same boat. This was my 1st backed KS. When they announced that they were suddenly pushing the delivery out an entire year, I asked for, and got, a refund. A year later I decided I had already waited that year so I late pledged it again. Then over time it became so different from the "original" game that I asked for, and got, a refund again. I've never refunded any other KS since. I'm still intrigued by the game, but doubt I'll ever play it

I wuld realy like to heard your those about the topic of a crowd founded product that develope way different from the pich on wich it raised money. I mean, yes you want to delivere the best product possible but if it change too much isn't just better to deliver something closer to the product you "sold" on crowd founding and then try to improve with the feedback you receved for the next iteration then get a product out that is completly different from the one showed?
