A lot of people getting mixed up on the name of the backup singers and band
Released in 2009 the music video was released in 2020, Backing Vocal group are "The Standard" members Ani Nuku, Lilo Asiata, Nate (Nathan) Peseta, and the Session band is "The Levites" made up of Christmas Ropati (Guitar) and the Nansen brothers Ross (Drums), Jacob (Keyboard) and Junior (Bass). Stan's catalogue is diverse, full of covers as well as originals.
He was diagnosed with the rare-cancer causing gene CDH1 which runs in Stan's family and has already claimed the lives of 25 of his relatives. Due to complications during his surgery he had more restrictions than usual. He is gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant and can't eat greasy food saying "It's painful. I love eating. I love eating fast and I love eating heaps. I can't eat fast, I have to take my time or I'll get sick or I'll spew up on stage. My body has forced me to be healthy" adding he has 'more energy' after the surgery and his body now moves faster. He was then told he would need to take B12 shots, if he didn't he would likely die.

Stomach cancer is very prevalent in Stan's family. His father died from it. There is a documentary that Stan did about his illness, the surgery, and his recovery. It was very interesting and quite moving. In his case, the stomach was removed and the esophagus was stitched directly to the upper intestine. So when he eats it basically just goes straight through. There's certain things that he cannot eat. He has said that every once in awhile he'll eat a small portion of something that's not really good for him and it will upset not his stomach, but it causes GI, or gastrointestinal, discomfort. Stan's documentary was quite thorough. He did it because when he became ill and disappeared from performing for a while rumors began to spread that he had some sort of addiction and had retreated for Rehab. You can find it on TH-cam. Thank you for doing this video. I had not seen this particular performance before. As to your question at the end of the video, Stan is from New Zealand.

After you have had your stomach removed like stan has they connect the esophagus to the small intestine, this leaves people with a working digestive system that still allows swallowing, eating and digesting food, but in a much different way.
