I love watching you guys play. You're so kind to each other and polite - friendly competition, nothing nasty. I've played games before where people don't tell you all the rules or don't support you when you're learning - it's nice to watch you interact as a group, but also a good way to work out whether each game is my type. Huge props to you all!
(Never seen ya'll before) I watched all the way through and enjoyed it allot! I loved how Aaron and Dave were very into it hovering over the table while Lincoln and Nikki were chill and laid back. Also, I thought it was funny that even though it was a single victor game both sides of the table somewhat formed teams (advising each other) and everyone at the table were supportive and helping to each other. Very fun loving and great sports when eliminated or damages badly. Can't wait for Ep 2!
For the past month on game nights my friends and I have played no elimination upon death. To make up for that, a player who dies comes back with full health, but loses half their victory points and energy rounded up and all their keep cards. And whenever a player kills another they gain 2 VP. Thus, the only way to win is to gain 20 VP (but we usually play 30). This has made for some really fun and close games with nobody having to sit there and watch, with however, a severe penalty for dying. Games then last anywhere from 20-50 min with this system.
+Aron Forch It has a child is one of the best cards in the game. You pay 7 for the ability to come back with full health. You lose all your cards and victory points though. Your variant is a free and better It has a child upon death. It sounds strange to me. If you want to eliminate death you can put counters on your monster for each damage below zero it took, and put your monster on non-active. Then on your turn only hearts work, and allow you to become active again, if you reach back up to a hp above 0. Non-active monsters can't attack, gain victory points, buy cards or gain energy. But they also 'feign death' so they don't take damage from Tokyo attacks.
Yeah ... no. This is Ameritrash and it's a quick game. I could understand if you need to wait for turn after turn like Werewolf but you won't wait more than ten minutes.
I've played that game at my mates. I was the Kraken and won by elimination, but in the second game, a friend of mine won within 2 rounds! It's a great game and I love it :-)
As indispensable as your reviews and ratings are, this is the best step I could imagine for educating people about specific board games. I can foresee games like King of Tokyo flying off the shelves immediately following every GameNight. Would I have looked twice at KoT at the game store? Nope. Am I running out the door to pick one up as a Christmas present....you betcha! The question is, will you be taking requests for which game to play next?
Was watching your 5min dungeon playthrough Looking to binge watch all your playthrough series, Love it ! Please play some of the good old games w replayability as well Thanks guys
Thanks for making this vid! I've been kind of glossing over this game whenever I saw it cuz I thought it was to "dicey" for the ppl I play with... but it actually looks fast paced and really fun! (Oh and love the offscreen voice too... makes it feel like its really just a game nite at someones house!)
I love your videos! And... I must confess... hehehe... I don´t know why, but everytime I see Lincoln, I remember Rush and my beloved Geddy Lee... Rush: best band ever!! 🙂
Oh, man.. Out of curiosity I wanted to know which game did you play on the very first episode of GameNight, and, what do I find? You're playing one of my favorite games 🤩 Such an amazing experience 🥰
I'm not sure if I correctly understand how to start the game from the rulebook. I have three possibilities: 1) The first player MUST enter Tokyo BEFORE he rolls dice - which you @BoardGameGeekTV didn't do in the video -. 2) The first player rolls dice before going into Tokyo, but he MUST go into Tokyo after resolving dice, even if he got no claws. If he got claws, they're useless, they don't harm any monster. 3) The first player rolls dice outside Tokyo. After resolving dice, if he got no claws, then the next player MUST go into Tokyo before rolling dice. But, if the first player got claws, he MUST go into Tokyo. What is the right way? I bet option 2 is the right one, but I'm not sure. In the rulebook, you can find these following texts, but I don't think they are very clear: 1) "Since no Monster starts the game in Tokyo, the Monster who plays first does not cause Monsters to lose with " 2) "If no one is in Tokyo, you must enter and place your Monster in Tokyo City." 3) "No Monster starts the game in Tokyo. The first player must enter Tokyo City during this step."
You only go into to Tokyo if the King of Tokyo wants to leave after being attacked. I'm not sure if that is exactly what happened where you saw that but that is likely what was going on.
He rolled a claw on the first or second roll but re-rolled and got two non-claw dice. Therefore, by the end of the third roll he had no claws which means he did not _resolve_ a claw. The first person to resolve a claw after the game begins is the first player to move into Tokyo.
If an attack somehow ends up doing no damage (due to Camouflage for example), then it is no longer considered an attack for the purposes of cards like Poison Spit or Herbivore. He should not have left tokyo when he had one life, because it was not an attack anymore, since his card ignored the damage.
I like this, it's like a poor man's Tabletop that's like, more genuine. Not saying Tabletop is bad, but sometimes I feel like they ham things up for entertainment value.
Guys, after 31:58 he used Freeze Time to start another round and he was in Tokyo. Unless rules explicitly say otherwise, I believe he should get 2 points for starting round in Tokyo...
What I don't like is that any player that is killed can do nothing until the game ends. I think I would create a house rule to enter the game with a new monster. Just to keep all the players active.
The Kraken should sound like a mix between a horny sea lion and Chewbacca, but you must also put the back of your hand up to your mouth and wiggle your fingers to simulate the Kraken's tendrils. It's in the rules. Promise. ;)
I think rules state that a purchased card cannot be used until your next turn. So Nikki's last move of sweeping the cards was not as helpful as assumed.
Wow, the end of the 2nd game was super unclear, had to rewind it and watch again to even understand what happened and the dice weren't even all shown. Otherwise, a cool show and look forward to more.
Did you need help with King of Tokyo??? It's the easiest game of the year to play...I need help with Ghost Stories, Robinson Crusoe, Dominant Species, etc....not a game that has a direction booklet three pages long!
The music was too loud, the food was cold, the drinks were few, and the people were many. It was everything I expected, and less. I'm never going outside again unless I need someplace to throw up.
It's always fun to go back and rewatch this to see the first episode of Game Night!

@Leroy Aron Yup, have been using instaflixxer for months myself =)
this was the first board game video i watched and i don't regret watching it
Great to see your first episode!! And finally, after 10 years, I got this game for Christmas. Actually the enhanced black version 😘😘
rewatching this in summer 2021...what a blast from the past
I love the atmosphere in your game group! So fun and kind.
Great job with all of the camera angles and your first episode. Looking forward to more...
You guys made this game look really fun! Such a quick and easy game to understand.
Bought and played this game last night with friends because of this video. Everyone enjoyed it!
The legendary first episode 🔥
(Never seen ya'll before)

2023 and this game is still awesome with a lot of expansions 🙌🙌

that sounds awesome. I think player elimination is the worst mechanic of all time.

That is an awesome house rule 😃 Im gonna use that in my games - ty ty so much 😄
Just bought this game couple days ago and I love it already
I've played that game at my mates. I was the Kraken and won by elimination, but in the second game, a friend of mine won within 2 rounds! It's a great game and I love it :-)

BANZAIIIII - Lets play again 😃 This is just a fun game played by an awesome and fun group😄 Ty ty so much 😀
Was watching your 5min dungeon playthrough
Looking to binge watch all your playthrough series,
Love it !
Please play some of the good old games w replayability as well
Thanks guys
32:20 That is always my response to the game ending too... "Let's play again."
Thanks for making this vid! I've been kind of glossing over this game whenever I saw it cuz I thought it was to "dicey" for the ppl I play with... but it actually looks fast paced and really fun! I'm thrilled that Tom Sizemore finally found a new gig!
Glad to see Tom Seizemore having fun and staying out of trouble.
lol. Indeed. I just made the same comment before seeing this.
I wish I could like this twice. Well done!
Is this gonna be a regular thing cause that would be awesome!! Videos like this help gamers like me so much!!
This was a lot of fun to watch. I am excited to watch future episodes. Thank you for posting this.
Dave is absolutely hilarious
He really got into the spirit of this game! What a fun video!!!
great show thanks guys. I think I am gonna get this game. Easy to teach but looks like a lot of fun
Just discovered you 3 days ago with Jaws the Game. Starting at the beginning now.. SO fun. I hope you introduce everyone as the seasons go by.
Wondered how this played - Thanks for the video!
Aaron and freeze time is the best combo
Oh, man.. Out of curiosity I wanted to know which game did you play on the very first episode of GameNight, and, what do I find? You're playing one of my favorite games 🤩
Such an amazing experience 🥰
You guys should play Betrayal at house on the hill
What movie/scene are they refering in the beginning when they go, "King of Tokyo. I will now explain tto you how to play the game King of Tokyo."
I don't think Dave understands that this isn't a co-op to kill Aaron.
Cringe worthy. I’m at my max annoyance level with him 😂
Geddy Lee needs to get back on tour.
My daughters favorite game
Looks like Nikki P is really enjoying herself!
How did they get the sailor bear monster?
I wish when I played this game we went through more cards
I thought you could reroll only the dice you chose to reroll?
I'm not sure if I correctly understand how to start the game from the rulebook.

Great Video..... Greetings from Chicago
Wow, at 17:50 they predicted the appearance of Baby Gigazaur about 4 years before he really appeared.
When he takes a bonus turn from freezing time, doesn't he get 2 points for starting in Tokyo at the beginning of his turn?
Lol I would roll my eyes also at the "Tanks.. your welcome" bit.
Love it, great episode! I look forward to more

Where did you get the Bear?
Armor (or major healing) is virtually the only way I've seen a win on points. Perhaps the folks I've played with are just more aggressive though.
You do play with aggressive players.
In all the times I've played the game, I've never seen someone win by last player standing.
today I watched again, I wish if you will have another night with King of Tokyo
I enjoyed watching alot
That's cool that Tom Sizemore is a gamer.
Tom Sizemore's a game geek - cool!
great job on the video!!!
Why does no one explains who gets to start first. Most game plays the explainer starts first.
I like this, it's like a poor man's Tabletop that's like, more genuine. Not saying Tabletop is bad, but sometimes I feel like they ham things up for entertainment value.
In the first game the first 2 players rolled a claw and didn't go into Tokyo. Why?
afk9dude g/.
really like this game play through, next time how about editing with score and health showing for each player
I Love you guys !!!!
I was under the impression that it was 1 buy/turn. did I read it wrong?
Pandakai?
I had no idea Tom Sizemore was a board game addict.
What's next?
vicki guererro?
There's a drink ON THE TABLE!
Guys, after 31:58 he used Freeze Time to start another round and he was in Tokyo.
Unless rules explicitly say otherwise, I believe he should get 2 points for starting round in Tokyo...
You do not earn 2 points when you first enter tokyo, only the next turn if you stayed in tokkyo.
Playing this game on New Year’s Eve for 2025! 🎉

Just a matter of taste. Some gamers like player elimination (like me), others don't.
This game was down to $30 on Amazon the other day now it's back up to $39 :( ...BTW nice Threadless T-shirt to the guy in the video.
Nothing pisses me off more than telling someone how to play their turn ... LET THE GIRL PLAY HOW SHE WANTS!
What's 5q + 5q?
You're welcome.
takes some editing tips from TableTop (for example, rule clarifications, examples, & player score,) but I like this show idea.
"One cannot simply heal in Tokyo."
they almost fight, this game is intense 🤣
Definitely Tom Sizemore!
Sorry, not an english-speaker here. What's the "tanks" joke again?
To be fair they were doing the same thing to each other as well so it wasn't a case of the guys telling the girl how to play.
guys... let her play her turn
Coolest old guys ever
That means there are THREE DRINKS MISSING FROM THE TABLE!
Wow, the end of the 2nd game was super unclear, had to rewind it and watch again to even understand what happened and the dice weren't even all shown. Otherwise, a cool show and look forward to more.
This was bach when Nikki didn't look depressed
Classic example of boys playing game on girl's behalf at 54.50. I feel very sorry for her in that situation.
what you should do is time your bi weekly to be the off week for tabletop
WOT IS GAME NIGHT!!!??
i liked it better then Will Weathon's show
he forgot 2 points when he entered tokyo and got a new turn with three ones.
:05-:19 seconds was a bit awkward lol.
that would be sweet
Quiet please.. I'm having a 20 minute crush on Nikki.
9 people don't like green energy cubes..
She looks like the mom from That 70's Show.
gigosaur listless

Don't make me get sick into my own scorn.
