  • Hello! This is a video about how every RV seems to have the Cheap Chinese Vinyl Syndrome. So we will convert and replace with the best automotive vinyl available. Watch how I go through the process. Also Techniques #412 and #2385.

    You mentioned the cheap Chinese vinyl that was peeling/chipping and I've been fighting that with my computer chair for years.

    Love your videos! Same looking damage happening to my motorhomes’ jackknife sofa and dinette. First of March 2023 the upholstery looked good, come April the bonded (fake)leather just started falling/flacking off. For now, I’ll sew up some slip covers to contain the flacking mess. This Winter I’ll have to find someone (hopefully as good as you) to reupholster them.

    Thank you for all these videos. Am currently reupholstering our rv. The last to tackle is the captain chairs. Not exactly the same as those but the process is the same. Wish me luck!
    We bought a brand new Winnebago in 2018 and the fabric started falling apart in 2 years. Pretty disgusting that they cheap out so much on the fabric then won't fix it for us!

    3 years old and the seats look that beat up? I wonder how much damage is caused by sunlight breaking down the vinyl, which is obviously a lesser grade vinyl to start with. Great job and a very satisfying video!

    Great work 👏...im starting to learn upholstery have done 1 set of seats came out great....i just signed up a account with the company you mentioned you buy your material from (keyston) how do you pre measure the amount of material to use on each project? I want to do a leather/vinyl interior leather is expensive

      Hello Jrv, it's sounds to me like you are doing everything right. When estimating materials, I always take into account that the vinyl roll width is 54 inches. Then try to fit the patterns down the roll. I always add one extra yard just to be safe so I don't come up short. Please keep liking and watching!

What I am telling you is to find someone who needs your help with their upholstery problem and do the job for them and get paid at the same time. THE only way you will learn is by doing it. If it takes a long time to get it done, and there will be mistakes, don't give up. Don't make any excuses to get started. Just do it! Sorry for the tough love. Please keep liking and watching!
