Least yeehaw. He is the antithesis of yeehaw because half his shtick is, hold your horses I've done this particular crime a time or two and you'll listen if you don't want to die.
The characters of Hal Wilkerson and Walter White are opposite ends of the same spectrum. Hal Wilkerson is a sociopath who has been henpecked by his bossy wife into having fear and a moral compass. When she isn't there, he quickly reverts into his uncaring, irresponsible self. Walter White is a guy who starts out as a henpecked husband, but slowly gives in to his bitter entitlement and grandiose delusions to become a self-centered sociopath.
This is why Breaking Bad is a magical show. It took these background actors like J. Banks (who usually played detectives and crooks) and D. Norris (who usually played cops), and gave them the performances of a lifetime. Mike and Hank are the absolute highlights of their careers, and it's so nice to see background actors being able to show off their range.
Breaking bad was written like a Hollywood D&D game, where the actors are able to really let their talents speak for themselves, and therefore the in-character choices and choices about how they express their characters gives the showrunner more tools to paint a satisfying narrative
One of my favorite underappreciated shows is Faracape. It also had two characters that were supposed to be one-offs and the actors killed it so hard they got made regular. A character named Chiana was scripted to die at the end of the episode she's introduced in but everyone liked Gigi Edgeley so much they rewrote it and she joins the crew permanently instead. Similarly a character named Scorpius was intended as a villain of the week but Wayne Pygram made him so menacing that he ended up as the primary antagonist of the show and, for my money, one of the greatest sci-fi villains of all time. I love the "they were so good we kept them" stories from shows
Jackson Belleville, played by Jackson Douglas, had the most minor of roles in the show "Gilmore Girls" as the produce delivery guy but became a regular then part of the major cast as the husband of Melissa McCarthy's Sookie St. James.
I have a hard time believing the audience was the reason Giancarlo Esposito became a main villain. The guy was a drug dealer from the first episode he appeared in.
@torm0 the part I find hard to believe is the audience part, not him blowing a cameo out of the park. It feels more plausible for me that they shot a version where Giancarlo Esposito appeared for a second, the creators or whoever realized he's the creepiest guy ever, and changed the episode to make him more important.
My pick for a one-off character That I would love to have seen expanded is The Grey Ghost by Adam West from Batman the Animated Series. I just think he was so great and could've expanded in Justice League Unlimited or played a person of Wisdom similar to the role Bruce has for Terry McGinnis in Batman Beyond.
That end image is hilarious, I love you. Just smiling at the camera with your hands folded over a skeleton. And your chin resting on your hands. I don't know why it's so funny, but I giggled, then kept looking, and then laughed, and then laughed some more. And it was on screen for just the perfect amount of time where it was long enough for me to have a good laugh at it, but not long enough that it would have gone beyond my laugh. I was right in the beginning of an after-laugh chuckle when it disappeared, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.
This video explains some footage I saw where he was getting teary eyed over the show ending. It really sounds like Mike was a character that he put a lot into
I believe he researches a lot of material before he shoots these videos. So he probably has a lot of imdb pages fresh in his memory after researching for these videos.
What I also love about the guy who played Mike, was how much the show and the people behind it meant to him. He talked about it on one of those cast meetups, where he actually came to tears talking about how much he missed the rest of them. ❤
Banks is astounding. I’d watch him in anything. And Karl Urban is so outstanding, I had a fan site just for him back in my Xena-watching days starting from his first appearance. Yes, I admit it-Hey, what can I say, I was really young...
Jonathan Banks played ... a cabdriver in _The Cheap Detective_ in which he's screwed out of a tip by the titular gumshoe Sam Peckinpah (Peter Falk). ... An orderly in _Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension_ . He confiscates Dr Emilio Lizardo's (John Lithgow's) TV set because he uses too much electricity.
I was definitely one of those people who turned their nose up at Robert Pattinson initially because of the stigma Twilight had cast on his career but given that my favorite live action Batman of all time is Michael Keaton who people also didn't think would suit the role didn't sit right with me being the same kinda person who doubted him. So after probably a week of introspection and sitting down with the Lighthouse I decided I'd give Robert a shot. Pleasantly surprised with The Batman. Fantastic actor and while not anywhere near my favorite Batman or Batman movie he definitely did the dark knight justice. Hopefully they bring him back for more.
I was talking about this with my wife just a couple of days ago. We both said that we wish Tooty, the Story Lady from frasier would have appeared more often. She only appeared twice, and i can't find any clips of her online, but the joke the writers wrote for her was hilarious and should have been put in more often.
The Puckmaren at the end of Flight of the Navigator poking his head out of Jeff’s backpack, always sticks out when I think of that film. Not sure if that counts or not lol
Venus Van Dam in Sons of Anarchy. Walton Goggins does such a fantastic job it takes a one time comedy skit character and expands on it just enough to make them a character you genuinely care about. It's the kind of roll you know others would refuse to play, but I gained so much respect for Walter doing it anyway and then ten times more for the fact he was able to make you care. So if there is anything with him in, in future I'll watch it just to see his part alone.
Senator Armstrong couldn't be the rival character because that's Jetstream Sam's entire thing, although I would've definitely liked him showing up more. But by God for a character who shows up at the last minute he makes one heck of an impression.
Btw I really love Jonathan Banks as Commissioner Gordon in Arkham knight and I would love a crossover between Mike and Batman! Mike could legit outsmart Batman.
I knew Robert Pattinson from Twilight, but the only reason I didn't talk shit was because I just so happened to had seen "The Devil All The Time" not long before the trailer, and I had looked into his career a little bit after that, and I was like "wow. He really is more than just the vampire from Twilight." I was actually pretty impressed. I had complete faith in him playing batman, and I wasn't disappointed
Jonathan Banks featured in one episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation and yes he does play a space criminal. He also has extremely long (fake) hair.
The X-Files episode by the way is a fucking amazing one stand-alone. It's a very interesting premise too, and I remember it vividly, the end shot at the beach one of the key scenes
"She beat me at bowling... and she didn't bang me. Obviously must be on her period." Tho for real... most of my exes probably would have been better at bowling on their period. Any opportunity they could take to really focus on what they were doing in that time... they would take.
Watched The Batman, I can never believe anything you say ever again. You guys thought he was a good Batman?! You legitimately thought he was a good Batman?! Wow!!! How is this even happening?!
I cannot describe how, but Mike is somehow the most and least yeehaw character on the show.
Least yeehaw. He is the antithesis of yeehaw because half his shtick is, hold your horses I've done this particular crime a time or two and you'll listen if you don't want to die.
"Get back in your car, Waltuh."
He's wisened yeehaw
He is "if you gotta shoot, shoot, don't talk" as a person.
@@alexclo5901 I read that in Mike's voice. "Hold your horses, I've done this particular crime a time or two. You'll listen if you don't want to die."
Ya know the fan theory that Walt became Hal from Malcom in the Middle?
The much more likely theory is that Mike became Buzz Hickey from Community

I can’t refute this without spoiling the show, but you know what I wanna say.
i think Mike's introduction also helped enforce the idea that Saul had connections and had people he could call on

Mike is a unique character. On paper he should be boring. But for some reason, he totally works in the world of Breaking Bad.
I love how people are still talking about this show, Greeting from Albuquerque , New Mexico. Keep up the great content.

This show deserves sooo sooo sooo much love.
Random Farscape reference made my day. Scorpius/Harvey were amazing characters.
Man has that subtle intimidation.. like he's the calmest man in the room.. don't fuck with him.

Jonathan Banks as Buzz Hickey playing D&D is one of the great episodes of Community
I just rediscovered this channel after like a year of not watching and I'm so hyped to binge it for weeks lol
Has anyone else noticed that Karl has a TON of IMDB pages commited to memory?

Thanks for the book Karl!
He did a really good job as commissioner Gordon in Arkham Knight

He was also in Airplane....he was one of the control tower guys.....
I was talking about this with my wife just a couple of days ago.

He was also a blink and you miss it police officer in Gremlins
The Puckmaren at the end of Flight of the Navigator poking his head out of Jeff’s backpack, always sticks out when I think of that film. Not sure if that counts or not lol
Was literally watching a video compilation yesterday of all of his most badass moments and then this pops up, spooky but welcome haha
Another great video! Thank you!
Community is very worth watching. the first few episodes are admittedly rough but by the end of the first season it’s great

i wish you had monetized more a few years ago when the algorithm blessed you
I love the kid named finger
another movie he is in is the original Beverly hills cop.
Thank God for subtitles...
Senator Armstrong couldn't be the rival character because that's Jetstream Sam's entire thing, although I would've definitely liked him showing up more.
But by God for a character who shows up at the last minute he makes one heck of an impression.
Can’t believe Karl hasn’t seen community. I’d love a fact fiend video about Community!
Speaking of school information videos. The first thing I saw David Tenant in was an anti-smoking video with a very Glaswegian cast.
Mike Ehrmantraut introduced me to pimento cheese sandwiches and for that I shall be eternally grateful
Great video. Please don't leave us
So far my favourite fact fiend episode is about when he was talking about halo 5 and how they didn’t know hoe the main character
?, kom aan man ons weet mos hoe om engels te praat
Kid named finger
Breaking Bad Actors/Fans: Does/says anything.
Breaking Bad Writers: "Write that down write that down!"
so my first intro to vince gilligan is him being a VHS game actor in a one off episode of community... weird.
Kid named Johnthan:
Btw I really love Jonathan Banks as Commissioner Gordon in Arkham knight and I would love a crossover between Mike and Batman! Mike could legit outsmart Batman.
Apparently Jonathan Banks was also in Gremlins
Love this standard. The facts. The conversation. The visuals. That funky music. Ah yes.
He was also in an episode of Dexter, during the time Lundy is around
finger
no way
Waltuh

I love how Jonathan Banks also voiced James Gordon
8:40 for the goddamn title
suprised we didn't talk about the fact Banks was in Gremlins for a short while.
Jonathan Banks featured in one episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation and yes he does play a space criminal. He also has extremely long (fake) hair.
“aerodynamic” HA!
I’d watch 8 seasons of Mike Ermentraut auditing warehouses 🤩
With hair he just has more Steve Buscemi energy personally
I never noticed until this video, Banks is like the head henchman in Beverley Hills Cop
Because I can it's a great reason to do backflips in the batsuit
Community is so good... Please Karl, please watch community
for a good 2 minutes I thought you were talking about Gru instead of Groot and I was so fucking confused.
That man looks like a damn LotR goblin
Mike was my favorite character
My favorite scene was mikes death
Slapping Aaron Paul should be a national passtime.
I love FF:TSW. It might not have been a *good* movie, but I loved it regardless.
Cool. Whats with the final fantasy dvd/book? On the table?
Anthony Starr could steal your girl and you at the same time, pause
Literally just finished better call saul!!!
Banks was a thug in Beverly Hills Cop.
Those metaphors 🤣
The X-Files episode by the way is a fucking amazing one stand-alone.
It's a very interesting premise too, and I remember it vividly, the end shot at the beach one of the key scenes
More wordplay than a crossword competition
Definetly one of my favorite shows
He makes a decent Bruce Wayne but i dint believe he was under the mask
Karl, how come you haven't seen Community??
"She beat me at bowling... and she didn't bang me. Obviously must be on her period."
Tho for real... most of my exes probably would have been better at bowling on their period.
Any opportunity they could take to really focus on what they were doing in that time... they would take.
My favorite movie is a film called Freejack and Jonathan Banks is wonderful in that.
Hands down, most underrated character = Jake Meserski played by Ben Foster in Alpha dog!!
Steve Buscemi was amazing in boardwalk empire just saying.
Why are you doing backflips
Because I'm BATMAN
opportunity missed
I love Jonathan Banks, he looks like a sad cat
Get out from behind that darn desk. It's not your style.
Let's see a Gorr the God Butcher movie lol
Bat-Vape
Do wikiweekends on thermoman from my hero . The British TV show his powers and abilities are quite funny and creative
oh thats a good one
I love hearing international takes on trash American commercials since they are ran with absolutely no shame here. Especially the pills😅
Robert Pattinson's batman was trash.
Sgu
Watched The Batman, I can never believe anything you say ever again. You guys thought he was a good Batman?! You legitimately thought he was a good Batman?! Wow!!! How is this even happening?!
