Can we just make Linda Darling-Hammond be the Secretary of Education so that she can create these kind of system she talked about and make the US education the best to produce well rounded students who are ready and can compete for the 21st century workforce !
I think it should be noted, Finnish schools pay less per student than US ones do. The numbers quoted in the Finland Phenomenon documentary were $8,300 for US and $7,500 for Finland.
Most important thing that US have to do is make teachers respected job. That would improve teachers morale and studends make better after teacher is motived.
when even a humble and intelligent woman like this can sit on stage repeating "leader of the free world" as if it wasn't the hight of arrogance, then there is a problem. If the US is the leader of the free world, please let others call you that, certain things should not be self proclaimed..
it's not that simple. it is far from that simple. do remember that we are talking about two completely different tax structures, so a honest comparison to pressure for taxes is very difficult. tl;dr = theirs do not work like ours does (terveisiä pohjoisesta)
Perhaps the US government should do like everybody wants and relinquish the power to the states to govern how is necessary for that state. Trying to govern 50 "countries" with one general rule of law has proven not to be feasible.
United States: 325.7 Million Canada: 36.29 Million Australia: 24.13 Million I don't know if you can compare a "very large" system like Canada or Australia to the US.

Thank you, Dr. Darling-Hammond for the simple insight on what needs to happen here in America. All of us have "The Right to Learn"!
you shouldn't be hating on anyone. especially people who are proud of the place they live.
