CH L Also in the making of this video, when they were filming Suga on that mountain of clothes, the director said the scene is inside the washing machine. Those were my impression as well because you see the clothes inside a dark place but you can also so a light coming from somewhere above which I assumed was the window of the washing machine. Another thought that came to mind was that the clothes spinning inside the washing machine is symbolic of how the people trapped inside are in a limbo, if that makes sense. But yeah there are a lot of symbolisms here, most of which you've mentioned. :)
Yup I think it's totally a tribute. Rapmon said he wrote the lyrics for Spring Day at the park thinking about missing a friend/friends. There are a lot of hints that symbolizes the tragedy of Sewol Ferry. The MV and the tragedy is all fit to me. In the MV they showed two situation. First, Jungkook was running looking worried and searching for something or someone and he looked relieved when he found the other members. After that, they were running together to catch the train but were too late. Their expression changed so much when they missed the train. As if the situation for those victims who tried to save themselves but were too late to make it out of the ferry(if you know about the tragedy, the crew captain told them to stay where there are until the rescue team came so they stayed in the cabin while the captain himself with the crews abandoned the ferry to save themselves. When the ferry sunk they couldn't make it out of the ferry which is so heartbreaking...) Second, all of the members were on the train but they're not happy, looking sad as if remembering someone. This maybe shows the opposites situation of the victims that survived and were rescued but they know there were many of their friends still trapped on that ferry and couldn't make it out. BTS performed this song at MMA 2017 and if you see at the big screen behind them they put the view from underwater like the bottom of the ocean for the background as if remembering those who lost their lives drowning with the ferry in the ocean. No kidding I was literally crying when I watched that performance.

I heard this video had alot of symbolism to the Sewol tragedy. Like when Jimin was holding the shoes looking at the ocean. And when jungkook was standing in front of the marry-go-round thing there was alot of yellow ribbons tied around it a symbol for the Sewol tragedy victims. I think this video is overall talking about dealing with grief and how to over come grief.

Guys, the song and mv talks about friendship and youth. About how we grow up and we don't see our friends like we used to, since life goes on and we become busier and busier with our own lives. Is basically about missing our friends and the good times we had. Rap Mon references Snowpiercer (Joon-Ho Bong's film) in the lyrics, in the film almost everyone in the world dies due to the harsh cold, and the few that survived live on a train that goes around the world non stop, while there is only winter throughout the year. The song is called Spring Day since in lyrics Rap Mon says he wants to put an end in this eternal winter and wishes spring days to come. They also referenced the book The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas in the mv, I didn't finish read it yet but it's about an utopic city were everyone is happy while a kid is forced to be miserable so that everyone else gets to be happy. In my opnion they are criticing the fast fashion industry in the pile of clouthes, since brands only do bussiness with the cheapest factories on third world countries, without safety and good work conditions. So that people in develop countries can consume and turn a blind eye to whats really happening.

"Bo Go Ship Da" never sounded much sweeter, heart-warming and cool, all at the same time, than this!! Especially when RapMon rapped it in the beginning. This is truly a beautiful song and matches sweetly with the music video.
hmmm I read/watched/thought about a few theories already but I really like this one. Connecting it to Omelas though, it could be about a transition from one phase in life into another. In BTS' case it's probably that moment in life when you're figuring things out. Like when you're young you're so sure about what you want to be, this is the utopia in Omelas. Then comes the period in your youth when you're just so lost and the dream "left" you that's the transition that is the winter, the being alone part. You're missing you, the previous you. Eventhough it's hurting and uncomfortable you just hold on and wait till spring comes by (like the snowpiercer theory). But then in the end when you find that spring you're a completely different person. So eventhough you're holding on to that self from the beginning, at the same time you're changing and growing. You gave your "blood, sweat and tears" to the "devil" in this case life. In the end, that innocent you in the beginning is dead and at some point you say good bye. (someone spend too much time analysing ._.)

Then the narrator begins to describe there is a place in omelas underground where a single child is being abused and starved and goes into detail how they have been abused so badly they have lost their humanity but that the happiness of Omelas depends on the abuse of that one child. Everyone in Omelas eventually will learn about this child who was taken and locked up and they either accept or they will walk away from Omelas never to return again afrer learning the source of this utopia.
Actually in an esquire article late last year BTS confirmed it's about a tragic/sad event - which fits so perfectly with the Sewol Ferry tragedy event theory because that was such a huge deal in S. Korea and was the catalyst for change and their president being impeached and corruption being discovered (and if you're a S. Why does everyone seem to know that Snowpiercer reference? I never heard of that movie until I read an interpretation for Spring Day. Anyway, I know this is an old video, but I think it's about the loss of our beloved one, not necessarily a romantic interest, could be due to death or any farewell. The song is about coping with loss. Suga' rap implies the contradicting emotions he feels: he misses the person, but he is also resentful that he wants to blame them for leaving. It was like asking, why did you go? If you didn't go, I would not be like this. But then he realized it wasn't right. They are gone, and it's time for him to let go, "instead of continue blaming you". The "I" in the song gradually accept the unavoidable, but it was in hopeful tone. He believes to continue enduring and going through the hardships of life. The part where it asked to wait a little longer is about perseverance and hope. When it feels like there is no more hope, you still need to hold on and try to stretch as long as you can.

I heard that spring day was about The sinking of MV Sewol, also called the Sewol ferry disaster, occurred on the morning of 16 April 2014 .... on the carousel It looked like the same yellow ribbons that were tied along the chain link fence for all of the victims when they finally brought the Sewol ferry back up to exam it . The shoes Jimin found on the beach represents the shoes of all the students that were found on the ferry when the divers went down to recover bodies . Jin looking up the stairwell taking a picture was because the students were recording their last moments and also because the rescuers were not allowed to enter the boat but they could see the students through the windows of the ferry but could not save them and watching the drown . Hence the washing machine scene. The mountain of clothes was suppose to represent all of the students luggage and clothes that was pulled from the ferry to be identified by parents of the victims . The train at the beginning was suppose to represent the ferry . There are many indications during the MV this was written specifically for sewol ferry disaster. The Mountain of clothes with suga it's like "Venere degli stracci" of Pistoletto, an italian contemporary artist. He's very famous. But the second thing i thought was the spring cleaning ahahah
People think that the members represent something. -JHope represents Hope. -Taehyung means Death. -Jungkook is the victim. -RM is the time. -Jimin is Jungkook's friend. -Jin means life. -Suga is despair. JHope was sitting and the sunset bloomed on his face. When Jungkook was sitting on the train, sleeping, Tae was on the tracks. Taehyung means death. That's why he laid on the tracks. It wasn't suicide. It meant that Jungkook was going to die. But, RM was time. So, when RM was on the train, death to Jungkook would happen later. Jimin on the beach held shoes. Shoes meant death. (But people also think it's the deaths of students/adults who passed away on the Sewol Ferry incident. All the wet clothes. Suga felt despair for Jungkook. Anyways, moving on. When they were all together, Taehyung was missing. Because Jin was there with RM. Jimin was waiting for Jungkook but I think that Jungkook knew he was about to die (?). But, what about JHope? JHope meant hope, as you already knew. Hope in Jungkook wasn't there. That's why Hobi couldn't come out when he was with Jin on the washing thingy. They all met soon and in a scene, there was only 6 members there. Tae was missing but.. In the next scene, Tae was there again. Meaning that it was time for Jungkook's death. That's all I know! Linking the theory that the song and MV is about the sinking of the Sewol to what Danny said, I watched a short documentary type video interviewing the parents, friends, and other family of the victims, and there was one mother who lost her daughter who kept her daughter's room clean; she would dust and vacuum and wash, but she kind of regretted it after because she said that if she hasn't done that the room would still smell like her daughter.
This was about losing a love one and I guess winter means is that you're currently still hurt and devastated because of the passing of that person. Spring is the time when you've finally moved on. You feel better and you've accepted that this loved one is gone and that you're waiting for the time to meet them again. But just because it's cold and you feel alone, with no warmth of that loved one with you, that doesn't mean you're walking alone. You end up moving on to Spring, you realize that loved one is still with you, in your memories and in your heart you feel the warmth of that loved one in your memory, you still feel them in your heart. "You Never Walk Alone."
Yaa this mv represents the survivor of the incident 'Seoul Ferry' that happened in south Korea and the pile of clothes represent the souls and the deads. And yes it also has reference from the movie snowpiercer and a book that tells the meaning of omelas that was shown in the movie. And there is also the scene where jungkook lights up the matchstick which represents a poem where the main character gets to see her beloved passed away peoples whenever she lights up a matchstick. And the shoes hanging on the trees is shown to commemorate the dead which is done in many cultures. And the tree represents hope and a new life and spring day. And I also got to know about the merry-go-round which was there behind jungkook which represents loss childhood and the yellow light that flashes and the ribbons represent the campaign that was held for the ferry incident in south korea. I think koreans must be really proud of BTS. 💜💜

There are a lot of hints that symbolizes the tragedy of Sewol Ferry. The MV and the tragedy is all fit to me. In the MV they showed two situation. First, Jungkook was running looking worried and searching for something or someone and he looked relieved when he found the other members. After that, they were running together to catch the train but were too late. Their expression changed so much when they missed the train. As if the situation for those victims who tried to save themselves but were too late to make it out of the ferry(if you know about the tragedy, the crew captain told them to stay where there are until the rescue team came so they stayed in the cabin while the captain himself with the crews abandoned the ferry to save themselves. When the ferry sunk they couldn't make it out of the ferry which is so heartbreaking...) Second, all of the members were on the train but they're not happy, looking sad as if remembering someone. This maybe shows the opposites situation of the victims that survived and were rescued but they know there were many of their friends still trapped on that ferry and couldn't make it out. BTS performed this song at MMA 2017 and if you see at the big screen behind them they put the view from underwater like the bottom of the ocean for the background as if remembering those who lost their lives drowning with the ferry in the ocean. No kidding I was literally crying when I watched that performance.

People think it's a symbol about the tragic Sewol Ferry accident. The shoes that Jimin picked up on the beach, brought by the sea belong to a victim (his girlfriend like you said, brother, sister, best friend (V's line in the song) etc), which is why Jimin looks so sad during the whole MV. Unfortunately, many koreans lost someone that day but "you never walk alone".
In the end Jimin wasn't alone but with his friends.
All the members were alone at the beginning of the MV but not at the end.

I heard this video had alot of symbolism to the Sewol tragedy. Like when Jimin was holding the shoes looking at the ocean. And when jungkook was standing in front of the marry-go-round thing there was alot of yellow ribbons tied around it a symbol for the Sewol tragedy victims. I think this video is overall talking about dealing with grief and how to over come grief.
It looked like the same yellow ribbons that were tied along the chain link fence for all of the victims when they finally brought the Sewol ferry back up to exam it . The incident could have been prevented and so sad that the president at the time did not do more to prevent the incident. She allowed all of those students to perish . I honestly wished this was a time when ppl had not listened to an authority figure and they would have jumped.... I would have been terrified to have jumped off a boat, building or anything but most of those ppl who drowned with that ferry could have been saved had they of done so ....

Guys, the song and mv talks about friendship and youth. About how we grow up and we don't see our friends like we used to, since life goes on and we become busier and busier with our own lives. Is basically about missing our friends and the good times we had.
Rap Mon references Snowpiercer (Joon-Ho Bong's film) in the lyrics, in the film almost everyone in the world dies due to the harsh cold, and the few that survived live on a train that goes around the world non stop, while there is only winter throughout the year. The song is called Spring Day since in lyrics Rap Mon says he wants to put an end in this eternal winter and wishes spring days to come.
They also referenced the book The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas in the mv, I didn't finish read it yet but it's about an utopic city were everyone is happy while a kid is forced to be miserable so that everyone else gets to be happy. In my opnion they are criticing the fast fashion industry in the pile of clouthes, since brands only do bussiness with the cheapest factories on third world countries, without safety and good work conditions. So that people in develop countries can consume and turn a blind eye to whats really happening.

hmmm I read/watched/thought about a few theories already but I really like this one. Connecting it to Omelas though, it could be about a transition from one phase in life into another. In BTS' case it's probably that moment in life when you're figuring things out. Like when you're young you're so sure about what you want to be, this is the utopia in Omelas. Then comes the period in your youth when you're just so lost and the dream "left" you that's the transition that is the winter, the being alone part. You're missing you, the previous you. Eventhough it's hurting and uncomfortable you just hold on and wait till spring comes by (like the snowpiercer theory). But then in the end when you find that spring you're a completely different person. So eventhough you're holding on to that self from the beginning, at the same time you're changing and growing. You gave your "blood, sweat and tears" to the "devil" in this case life. In the end, that innocent you in the beginning is dead and at some point you say good bye.

As the story goes on the narrator is describing that its a spring festival with beautiful water and mountains children singing townspeople happy. Then the narrator begins to describe there is a place in omelas underground where a single child is being abused and starved and goes into detail how they have been abused so badly they have lost their humanity but that the happiness of Omelas depends on the abuse of that one child. Everyone in Omelas eventually will learn about this child who was taken and locked up and they either accept or they will walk away from Omelas never to return again afrer learning the source of this utopia.
Actually in an esquire article late last year BTS confirmed it's about a tragic/sad event - which fits so perfectly with the Sewol Ferry tragedy event theory because that was such a huge deal in S. Korea and was the catalyst for change and their president being impeached and corruption being discovered (and if you're a S. Korean citizen then I really didn't need to explain any of the details lmao, but I can't tell just from a username so just incase 😅)

Why does everyone seem to know that Snowpiercer reference? I never heard of that movie until I read an interpretation for Spring Day.
Anyway, I know this is an old video, but I think it's about the loss of our beloved one, not necessarily a romantic interest, could be due to death or any farewell. The song is about coping with loss. Suga' rap implies the contradicting emotions he feels: he misses the person, but he is also resentful that he wants to blame them for leaving. It was like asking, why did you go? If you didn't go, I would not be like this.
But then he realized it wasn't right. They are gone, and it's time for him to let go, "instead of continue blaming you". The "I" in the song gradually accept the unavoidable, but it was in hopeful tone. He believes to continue enduring and going through the hardships of life.
The part where it asked to wait a little longer is about perseverance and hope. When it feels like there is no more hope, you still need to hold on and try to stretch as long as you can.

The train at the beginning was suppose to represent the ferry . There are many indications during the MV this was written specifically for sewol ferry disaster. JHope was sitting and the sunset bloomed on his face. When Jungkook was sitting on the train, sleeping, Tae was on the tracks. Taehyung means death. That's why he laid on the tracks. It wasn't suicide. It meant that Jungkook was going to die. But, RM was time. So, when RM was on the train, death to Jungkook would happen later. Jimin on the beach held shoes. Shoes meant death. Since Jungkook was about to have his death, Jimin held the shoes. That's why the shoes on the tree was there. When (I think) Jin and 2 others were on the laundry thingy, Jin feels trapped. He is life but Jungkook was about to die. He can't release himself. That's why he was in the little box. Full of life but without Jungkook. (THEORY 2) Suga sat on the shoes of despair for Jungkook. (But people also think it's the deaths of students/adults who passed away on the Sewol Ferry incident. All the wet clothes. Suga felt despair for Jungkook. Anyways, moving on. When they were all together, Taehyung was missing. Because Jin was there with RM. Jimin was waiting for Jungkook but I think that Jungkook knew he was about to die (?). But, what about JHope? JHope meant hope, as you already knew. Hope in Jungkook wasn't there. That's why Hobi couldn't come out when he was with Jin on the washing thingy. They all met soon and in a scene, there was only 6 members there. Tae was missing but.. In the next scene, Tae was there again. Meaning that it was time for Jungkook's death. That's all I know! But, this is all fictional. Hopefully this helped you a bit!

Hi guys, maybe you just saw it already, but if you check out the meaning of this MV, it is basically a kind of a tribute to the people who died in the ferry incident dat took place in korea where students on a school drowned on their trip to jeju-do a couple of years ago.
It's actually about friendship and closely related to Sewol Ferry accident. Jimin found shoes washed on the shore like someone lose it at the sea. And you can see yellow ribbons (which is a symbol for Sewol Ferry eccident) tied on the carousel behind Jungkook in timelapse shoot.

I have heard something about the mv. Some says it is memorizing the South Korea's Sewol ferry disaster. The incident happened in April, that is the beginning of Spring and the government ended up rescued work in Novermber, that is Winter.

Linking the theory that the song and MV is about the sinking of the Sewol to what Danny said, I watched a short documentary type video interviewing the parents, friends, and other family of the victims, and there was one mother who lost her daughter who kept her daughter's room clean; she would dust and vacuum and wash, but she kind of regretted it after because she said that if she hasn't done that the room would still smell like her daughter.
this mv hits me till now i remember watching the mv for the first time it made cry so much and up until now im tearing up...
This was about losing a love one and I guess winter means is that you're currently still hurt and devastated because of the passing of that person. Spring is the time when you've finally moved on. You feel better and you've accepted that this loved one is gone and that you're waiting for the time to meet them again. But just because it's cold and you feel alone, with no warmth of that loved one with you, that doesn't mean you're walking alone. You end up moving on to Spring, you realize that loved one is still with you, in your memories and in your heart you feel the warmth of that loved one in your memory, you still feel them in your heart.

Yaa this mv represents the survivor of the incident 'Seoul Ferry' that happened in south Korea and the pile of clothes represent the souls and the deads. And yes it also has reference from the movie snowpiercer and a book that tells the meaning of omelas that was shown in the movie. And there is also the scene where jungkook lights up the matchstick which represents a poem where the main character gets to see her beloved passed away peoples whenever she lights up a matchstick. And the shoes hanging on the trees is shown to commemorate the dead which is done in many cultures. And the tree represents hope and a new life and spring day. And I also got to know about the merry-go-round which was there behind jungkook which represents loss childhood and the yellow light that flashes and the ribbons represent the campaign that was held for the ferry incident in south korea. I think koreans must be really proud of BTS. 💜💜
