I am a Korean and an ARMY. This incident still brings significant pain to Koreans. At that time, not only BTS but many K-pop artists mourned through their albums and more. There's no need to compare with other artists regarding this incident. In Korea, all were saddened by this.

The rotten mango video is so educative and informational it really opened my eyes and mad respect to BTS for putting this issue in the forefront with Spring day
A special song created by BTS... Whenever BTS performs Spring Day I always remember this praise , "an intelligent, compelling & elegantly restrained study of loss and longing'. Embodying nostalgia & sorrow, it opened a new chapter in BTS' aesthetics and lyricism and attracted fans across generational boundaries". Spring Day will always be the song that perfectly encapsulate what exactly the type of musician they are, a brilliant track that'll always be timeless-ly relevant. During the pandemic, Spring Day was repurposed to reflect the emotions of separation and the hope of being together again that people and indeed BTS were experiencing. With virtually all ARMY in person contact suspended due to quarantine, BTS used Spring Day to show beneath all the isolation there was hope for a time when everything could feel normal again, when we could share times with those we love as we did in the past. The Tiny Desk concert version showed Spring Day was a ballad that could help people resolve troubled emotions with an optimism for the "spring day" to come in many contexts.
I recommend rotten mango video "the sewol ferry tragedy" to get a deep dive about the incident and understand what happened.

I always cry when I hear someone talking about it, but never seen the videos of the families before, that was even more painful, I cant imagine their pain
That video is so sad but whenever people watch it it fulfills the wish of the surviving students, that their friends will not be forgotten
yes, since their debut song, bts has spoken in their songs about the corruption of the government, society and all the garbage that some koreans and other countries are as humans. I admire them so much for that.

Thank you so much for the reaction, Spring Day is referred to as the "queen" by Army -- facts about the Italian Army who created the explanation, she actually went to SK and the families of the Sewol victims-- presently with all the members now have enlisted, Army got Spring Day as #1 on US Itunes a few days ago 😊

When you emntioned Italian ARMY I honestly felt my heart contract! Spring Day is almost inexpressibly sad, - yes, the song is about missing a good friend. But this explanation is about the MV, which is much tougher. It gives you ALL the background to the MV, and it is pretty unbelievable because so much of it was deliberate.
Many artists were blacklisted, and even though the song is later, even making the MV at that time was risky. Some politicians were penalised, but there were many more people in power who were responsible too, and they remained. Korea is like that, unfortunately
BTS' MV's are always full of details and most of them have meaning - I've never seen anything that was actually random or unconsidered.
I always get emotional at Spring Day and I think many ARMYs are the same.

This was the song that made me full on ARMY. I just respect them so much - for speaking up, for bringing attention to this, for being kind and understanding people trying to help even just one person find some comfort in all this horror. On a personal note, my best friend was in a car accident almost 13 years ago and got severely brain damaged and doesn't know who I am or remembers anything from prior, and has lost a lot of abilities and personality traits that made her HER. So almost 10 years I was struggling mentally on how to cope - and through Spring Days lyrics I realized, that I was struggling mentally because I on one hand wanted so much to celebrate her life and that she was still alive... but I couldn't fully do that until I had moarn the loss of my friend. Because the person I knew was no longer there. Spring Day really changed everything for me.

i will never forget the day this happened. it was on international news all day long. kinda helps u understand the theme of "all of us are dead" a bit better huh?
this is just another reason why they're so loved and admired. regardless of the fact that they make billions every year, they're still so aware of the everyday issues and feel the need to include themselves & use their platforms when they could choose not to. they're so humble and so human which makes the people around them want to listen to them. every bts song has a meaning. some might be more "mellow" than the others like spring day, but nonetheless, there's always a message and it's just so incredible to see how talented all 7 of them are to be able to put songs like this together simply so they can share it with the world. my love for them runs so deep. thanks 4 the reaction.
im not so sure about now since i haven’t checked recently, but spring day has also charted in korea everyday since it’s been released:) another sign for victim’s families to never lose hope :)

Idk if anyone said this but Spring Day has never left Korean charts since its release. ARMY also charted it number 1 on American Billboard charts for the first time ever the day all members finally enlisted in the military. Also on that same day spring flowers started to bloom during the winter in Korea. To say this song is special is an understatement
