I think people tend to forget how great Jacques Kallis was. He faced 18 of the 20 all-time test wicket-takers, and still made 23k+ runs. Oh and he took 565 wickets in tests and ODI combined.
Saying Kallis is the greatest cricketer to have ever played isnt an exaggeration
He is the greatest allrounder ever.... I mean scoring over 20k and taking 500 plus wickets... Its just incredible... Even pure batsman and bowlers couldnt achieve that feat..

That's not how it's work at all. No. Of matches played by Sachin is greater than the players today. Not saying he's not a legend or anything just saying why that record still stands. In another decade or so we will have batsmans that reaches 40k and more.
@@madhawakarunanayake Don't think anyone will ever break Sachin's record because nowadays most players debut at 25-26 years age and retire at 34-35. They don't get enough games to get that many runs. I don't think there ever will be another player who will play consistently for 24 years. If someone has to break Sachin's record in 12-13 years, which is the normal length of career these days, he has to average 70+ in all formats maybe. I don't see anyone doing that.
