I like the attitude of that last lady. She did not bit## about the fact that it was erroneously charged. She just smiled and let the judge talk, answered when appropriate.

I dare to disagree. Sure, "Yes Sir" sounds nice, but there is nothing wrong with "yup". The Judge is there to make decisions based on law, not teach people how to speak. Is there legislation that prohibits using the word "yup"? I thought the US was the bastion of free speech?
@@ricbarker4829 Sir, isn't there a well of difference, between 'yup' & 'yes sir'? Is there any legislation anywhere in the world that just prevents you from the usage of bad words? Tell me. Keeping his judge demeanor aside, this judge taught the woman manners as a responsible older person. If we don't know how to term people serving our country at the highest level, those guys have the right to teach us how to respect them. Please think. If you and I talk, we can talk as we want with 'yups' 'dudes' etc.. not with respected people like these.

The guy earned a title and it's an achievement to be recognized.
Languages are becoming simpler (words that weren't synonyms become synonyms then one disappear in favor of the other), levels of speech are also "merging" to a point where people do not see what's wrong with "yup" to a judge...
It's a natural evolution of language though, becoming leaner and more efficient. Until the language becomes so poor it had to evolve to introduce subtleties that were lost. So, it's a bit like an accordion.
though, there are things, like mark of respect, that should transcend that.
Smiling and having a good attitude makes my day.

We already know the judge is a treasure that the people of Providence are lucky to have. But inspector Quinn is also a great guy who sets a great example of what law enforcement is all about.

When a child act some certain way with an attitude, it tells you something about his/her mother. It tells you that the child's mom also has an attitude because kids pick up things very fast. My parents taught me respect and I respect those that senior me.

Or maybe the kid is just shy or a little scared to be up on the bench with the honorable judge.
Or it's his father or grandparents or aunts or uncles or whoever else he grew up around that "has an attitude". You can't just assume his mother has a bad attitude because her son does.
So you should have said his parents not just his mother.
I agree with the others about saying parents instead. You're right, however. Her attitude became evident at the 2:38 mark when she said that her son didn't want Christmas. Really? Her son has no real power, and then to threaten him with withholding Christmas put a bad taste in my mouth.
Love how the public likes this man, smiles in the courtroom. And nice to see him basically tell a kid that man have a good nice attitude, don't let life bring you down, smile...(I know its a lesson I have to learn too)

Some people show no respect for the court....yet the Judge shows respect and mercy to them. Yes sir, no sir are unknown words nowadays.
Judge is my employee and he celebrates his power I have given him with great salary,corruption etc etc...Do you know what judges did in Greece?They vote that its legal for the government to cut peoples wages but ELEGAL to cut JUDGES wages.There are pigs,worse than cops.Just because you see a celebrity juge trying to help people does not mean that the court institution deserves respect

Same here. It was diffrent. Had me thinking about it a good 5-10 secs afterwards. I think it's because I didn't expect it from someone of his age and stature.
She didn’t come to a complete complete stop. That’s probably what triggered the camera
I agree and was just checking to see if somebody else had already posted a comment to that effect before doing so myself, so now I don't have to. That judge is so lenient in that to him, slowing right down to a crawl counts as stopping.
Guima Channel I’m from New York City where you CANNOT make right turns on reds. (Unless a sign says you can). Generally the rest of the state and most other states allow for Right turns on red. However, from my understanding, you’re supposed to stop first, before turning.
- Like stop signs, people get lazy and do a “rolling stop” (slowing down, but not stopping completely), that’s where people get in trouble.
Guima Channel You got it. Although if you asked me, she did a rolling stop. She slowed to about 0.5mph then proceeded to turn. That doesn’t count as a stop (even though the judge is giving her the benefit of the doubt).
- But I understand why the camera would flash. Maybe had she stopped at 0.0mph , the camera wouldn’t have detected continuous motion.

I guess in Providence, a rolling stop looks like a complete stop of 1 second to a judge.
She overshot the stopping line before she came to a "stop", that's good enough for me. Also where I am, the rule is to stop all forward momentum AND THEN make sure the way is clear.
She still had forward momentum and was checking before/as she came to a "stop".
I can understand being lenient on the first offense but to imply she did nothing wrong at all is not responsible for the judge in this case.
I was also looking for a real stopping, in my country that doesnt count as "stop"
That women who took a right on red should be compensated a day of pay by the State. I had the same thing happen to me and lost money because I had to be in court.
