Wow, his ukulele playing is amazing! He's got an incredibly funky feel for time on it. I'm a musician and I simply lit up when I heard this. What a performer.
I just bought a ukulele off amazon seconds after seeing Sellers performance here, thanks to him i'm down £14. Though at least he's provided me with a lifetime of laughs R.I.P man
Wonderful interview why cant we have telly like that again. What a fantastic ending .Long live SPIKE PETER HARRY AND MICHAEL.Thanks for all the fun you gave us.
Indeed a true example of the tortured genius. It is refreshing to see Sellers in a rare interview where he is actually comfortable (somewhat) being himself, natural British accent and all. Such a talent, sorely missed.
Magnificent, thanks so much ! George Formby, My God, never thought I'd hear him again. Sellers was indeed happiest being silly and entertaining his audience or larking around with the Goons. Legend
The two funniest men ever in my eyes were Peter Sellers and Robin Williams, two tortured souls but who gave everything to make people laugh, out of their own darkness both gave light…..
Sellers was absolutely genius........I don't know how they could finish any scene without breaking up. So sad that someone who could make you laugh so hard you'd cry was so unhappy himself.
I've been reading a biography of Sellers recently. It's so hard to reconcile the negative comments about him with the pleasant man being interviewed here who is so respectful of other performers and very honest about his responsibility for his marriages ending! Also, who would have guessed Sellers could play a ukelele and sing decently???
Such an immensely talented man, words cannot do him justice - a true genius in the real sense of the word. He could do anything he set his mind to. The trouble is with geniuses, no-one can live with them. I could watch him all day, so sadly missed. There will never be another man so talented again - and he was English!
I have watched this loads and loads of times but for the first time here I realized that when he was talking about the achievement being in the moment he was not just talking about his performances I think Peter was also talking about the many beautiful women he was involved with, the chase and conquest being achieved , everything after was the crumbling of the relationship?, like in ones youth when you get to go out with someone above well your "fighting weight" and the disappointment it wasnt as special and different as you thought it would be I dont know?, it just made sense These short videos are some of the most enjoyable on TH-cam and they are very precious, as always I wish we had more but that's always the same with these extraordinary people.
I am taken back to better times - for humour without vulgarity, without foul language, and we laugh with him - not to decry others, but rather to laugh at our own silly selves .... God keep you safe Peter, now in a joyous life.
So amazingly tragic that someone so incredibly talented could bring so many millions of people joy and laughter, and yet be so deeply personally unhappy. God Bless Peter Sellers. He was too brilliant for his own good.
The word genius gets thrown around with reckless abandon today, but Peter Sellers truly was just that. A master impressionist. There was almost no accent, person or character he couldn't imitate. His true master work was the stuff he did with Milligan and Secombe...the Goons.
One of the best posts on youtube... pure gold! Its movingt when Parki gets him to open up a little about his personal life, i feel its the only time you get to see the true side of Sellers, a man i think deep down, was plagued with a real sadness..... Like Smokie Robinson said.. The tears of a clown when no ones around...
We all hide behind our own masks. Peter was so busy creating comedic personalities for his movies that he forgot to create one for himself - and that made him a turtle without a shell. Nevertheless, he was a true genius and missed. RIP Peter and thanks 🙏
sellers is clearly one of the greatest actors of all time, comedy or straight acting, he could do any voice, he is classed as an impersonator and under valued because of this, genius
The immpression he did of the actor trying to cash a check, sounded exactly like one of the characters from the mighty boosh :D i didnt know they were fans :D
Indeed he was. People want their heroes to be perfect. Impossible in any human. When I think of him, I have in my head Bluebottle, Bloodnok, Grytpype or Crun. Celebrate his genius.
When Parkinson probes Peter about his private life I'm amazed he didn't walk out of the interview then and there. He was a fiercely private man who almost never did interviews and rarely ever spoke out of character. You can tell that Peter is caught completely off guard by this line of questioning and very uncomfortable.
Peter Sellers was a joy to watch. All he wanted to do was have a laugh with the audience. There are so few REAL comedians left. N.B. REAL comedy is for people of ALL ages, without the fornicatory language. Sellers swore sometimes, but was embarrassed, and regretted it.
I don't think 3 minutes out of a half our interview are to be considered offensive...Sellers was an entertainer, one of the finest EVER, and asking him to do a bit of sing along isn't that sad
Are we all REALLY sure that Peter Sellers portrayed himself as Peter Sellers himself...the man? For all we know, throughout the majority of this interview, he may have portrayed himself as his next door neighbor. This ambiguity is what really added to the mystique of who we call Peter Sellers. No one truly knows who he really was, even when he was his own person ... perhaps he was always acting all along? Either way, no one really knew one way or the other. This ambiguity IS his legacy!
""The moment you're doing it" ... he knew what he was doing & shared his Creativity. You want to do something? DO It & then move on. Critics only talk about what happened, they actually DO things.
I have been watching Peter Sellers interview 1974, parts 1 through 4. I have one question. Why did he change from "Hippodrome" to "Theater Royal" (i´m appearing in tomorrows new yesterday)?. Did you notice that?
Peter Sellers and Mel Blanc were the true men of 1000 voices. Robin Williams and Corey Burton are brilliant as well, but they just can't really measure up to the likes of Sellers and Blanc.
The 'romance' with Loren was Sellers' fantasy - she and Carlo Ponti were happily married and she refused him. Like his deluded idea of a romance with Princess Margaret...
Wow, his ukulele playing is amazing! He's got an incredibly funky feel for time on it. I'm a musician and I simply lit up when I heard this. What a performer.
There will never be another like him. he was one of a kind. Smart funny a man for all ages. thanks man for the link to this insatiate of great person

Miss you Peter Sellers - you made the world a better place !
I still enjoying listening Peter Sellers on the Goons radio show, pure genius comedy still today.
Indeed a true example of the tortured genius. It is refreshing to see Sellers in a rare interview where he is actually comfortable (somewhat) being himself, natural British accent and all. Such a talent, sorely missed.
Brilliant. Peter was a great jazz drummer as well. He was really believable as Closeau
I sooo admire Peter Sellers and all of his various talents.
what a performer ..bloody marvelous..
Lovely actor…..
Fantastic!
R.I.P. Sir, Nobody can come close to your talent, you still rule and will always remain the EMPEROR of comedy.
where would comedy be without this legend...
Magnificent, thanks so much ! George Formby, My God, never thought I'd hear him again. Sellers was indeed happiest being silly and entertaining his audience or larking around with the Goons. Legend

100%
Absolutely!

What a remarkable man, and remarkable talent. A genius.
a true talent that will never be seen again watch him and be amazed
A flawed genius. Like you I am so happy this has been posted.
We are all flawed
thanks for finding this
Brilliant. R.I.P. Peter.
Really awesome. This was like John Lennon and George Formby combined.
u know its funny I thought the same thing he was so brilliant
Sellers was absolutely genius........I don't know how they could finish any scene without breaking up. So sad that someone who could make you laugh so hard you'd cry was so unhappy himself.

Thank You ever so much for this clip.

Awww he's so cute on the ukelale!
Thank you so much for posting this interview . Such a talented man who was never happy being himself but had the ability to be anyone else . Ironic .
We all hide behind our own masks. Peter was so busy creating comedic personalities for his movies that he forgot to create one for himself - and that made him a turtle without a shell. Nevertheless, he was a true genius and missed. RIP Peter and thanks 🙏
Peter Sellers is the best comedian of all time, thanks for uploading the interview
I really love Peter Sellers and long may he be remembered a true talented gentleman :)
Magic!
Bloody brilliant. Peter may have been flawed but he had so much to admire.
Brilliant
No one like him since.
What a fantastic man!
It's nice to see him enjoying the moment
So sad in many ways. There is a lot of regret in his face when he's talking about his private life. Truly a troubled genius.
Bravo! & Brilliant!
I was quite down before watching this, cleaning windows cheered me up,hehehe
Hes too adorable with that ukelele
An astounding talent.
What a talent. Utter Genius
thank you Peter! 8'-)
sellers is clearly one of the greatest actors of all time, comedy or straight acting, he could do any voice, he is classed as an impersonator and under valued because of this, genius
He was a brilliant actor!!!!
Awesome talent Sellers...
What an extraordinary talent - but I'm sure someone's said that already.
What an intense and bravely honest guy.
The immpression he did of the actor trying to cash a check, sounded exactly like one of the characters from the mighty boosh :D i didnt know they were fans :D
The scene where he's calling the waiter: in the film you can see the woman he is talking to, laughing her guts up when the camera is on Sellers.
The greatest ever
@khasab Exactly what I thought. First time seeing this and he so reminds me of John Lennon. May they both RIP.
Peter Sellers, genius!
Indeed he was. People want their heroes to be perfect. Impossible in any human. When I think of him, I have in my head Bluebottle, Bloodnok, Grytpype or Crun. Celebrate his genius.
you`re right arkle73, so genius ans so sad. he seems likes a person who feel incredibly alone.
Miss You Peter! - ;]

A genius. A man who seemed never at ease in his own skin.
I totally get that
Only happy when he was performing. Once real life caught up with him, he was fucked. RIP Mr. Sellers.
I don't think 3 minutes out of a half our interview are to be considered offensive...Sellers was an entertainer, one of the finest EVER, and asking him to do a bit of sing along isn't that sad

hard to believe hes been dead nearly 30 yrs
A flawed genius. God rest Peter Sellers. Thanks.
I cannot believe 2 people disliked this !!!!
Miserable Bastards
6:10 Sellers plays the ukulele.
""The moment you're doing it" ... he knew what he was doing & shared his Creativity. You want to do something? DO It & then move on. Critics only talk about what happened, they actually DO things.

"you or me."
Please stop calling him flawed. He is no more flawed than you or I.
The 'romance' with Loren was Sellers' fantasy - she and Carlo Ponti were happily married and she refused him. Like his deluded idea of a romance with Princess Margaret...
Then Sellers met up with George Harrison and Ravi Shankar=Dark Horse
@huntedrasta That's what he says but I think Sophia Loren always denied it. Who knows what the real story is.
He was a second hancock. Brilliant comedian but had a string of personal problems. Why are all the geniuses flawed? Love then both.
there is something beatle-esk about him...
He could be really funny yet he himself was never happy.
What's Peter drinking? He seems a little drunk.
He's as like a funnier John Lennon and John Lennon was funny too
