fascinating man. He seemed to live his life running away from himself in the world (s) he created . HIs imagination must have been so strong it superseded reality for most of the time. Unfortunately, you cannot escape reality or yourself indefinitely.
For me this is another side of him, just being a fairly relaxed, affable man having a lighthearted, almost completely conventional chat. His intelligence and his gift for provoking amusement are plain enough, but he gives little hint of being a profoundly unusual and original person with a complex and challenging character. Thanks for the upload.
Peter Sellars and Robin Williams are so much alike. It's uncanny. Brilliant. Both of them. Truly remarkable. They just can't help themselves being funny.
Trade Union Shop Steward Fred Kite my all time favourite among my many favourites. No end to this man's talent genius. A masterpiece portrayal in "I'm alright Jack". Over sixty years on and still very valid to this very day within the UK and the current Rail Transport Workers in the UK planning to grind the Nation to a standstill literally on more than one occasion. . To quote Fred Kite. I shall now withdraw and consult. Only in the UK :sigh: "Sacking someone for incompetence is victimisation". Those responsible for those writing those various key lines were also demonstrating a fine talent. Anyone who has not seen "I'm alright Jack" do so. You'll be in for a real treat seeing both Peter Sellers and the late great Terry Thomas at their rascally best. "What and absolute shower. Absolute shalwah!

The Goon Show. Pure anarchic genius. The closest any comedian has come close to its craziness, is possibly Billy Connolly or Robin Williams. I have some of the scripts and they are a joy to read, knowing the characters voices.
Thin line between crazy and genius, he managed to teeter on the edge of both for good and bad. Brilliant comedian and actor when he got to show off his range. Side note: what's he fidgeting with at the start?
Nice to hear him paying tribute to Monty Python as they were all such huge fans of The Goons. Although John Cleese and Graham Chapman wrote for one of his films and I don't think it was a terribly happy experience!
Is that his comment about not being a fan of ‘the box’. As far as quality content really traditional TV has really only come into it so since the advent of streaming which has stripped content away from its traditional broadcast television shackles
it's just become a tel-lie-vision set nothing is authentic or original anymore guys like Peter and many others were one of a kind everything is just a copy of a copy one of the reasons peter stopped doing inspector clouseau as he felt is was as good as it would get and did not want to spoil it
Is it true he burned many of the photographs he took before he died? Such a shame if that's the case - I'm sure he had a stunning photographic collection.
There's no way that anyone could get away with telling that martian joke these days. Peter Sellers was giving a performance for this interview - as always. Entertaining all the same.
Adorable, gorgeous, talented and so so funny. No-one like him.
Peter looked happiest when he was making others laugh and he was able to give whoever he was speaking to his fullest attention.
A most urbane ,sensitive and melancholic gentleman.
The greatest comedian of all time in my opinion. You can see his mind working in this interview. Truly extraordinary!
What an absolute genius.
Now we are all.psychiatric experts. Peter sellers is simply a man expressing the reality of pain men all suffer in this world
I love watching Peter sellers all his films and his interviews such a funny man and British 🇬🇧❤️

One of the great comic geniuses of our time.
Absolutely!
Great in the biggest sense. A true master of character, God I wish I could've met him
Terrific interview. Peter always came alive when doing characters and impressions, you can just see how much he enjoys it.
I agree. The very best comics are fantastic impersonators.
Wonderful interview - you could feel that he enjoyed it himself.

Peter had what I call "Michael Caine Syndrome":
"If I don't work non-stop, I may never work again".
The piece as the accountant at the party 😂😂 ... such a nice non showbiz interview ..!
A complete one-off!!! A genuis.
Love this guy. He descibes the characters as if they actually existed.
Peter Sellars and Robin Williams are so much alike. It's uncanny. Brilliant. Both of them. Truly remarkable. They just can't help themselves being funny.
Robin Williams can't compare, he is totally different.
inspector clouseau will always be my favourite

Peter was a gem.
This interview is as close to seeing the real Peter as any interview ever got
He was so obsessed with gadgets, it would have been so interesting to hear his take on the internet. Amazing interview.
Fifty years ago. Wow.
The one character he couldn't play was himself.
He hated himself
Peter was a genius, he would completely become the character, and you would forget that it was Peter, absolutely brilliant,

Like Italians ,like you Peter!
Not many of us would admit the Goon is within us all. The cost of letting it out is too difficult so lets never comment on how we see these brave guys

Connolly yes, Williams NO.
Stereo Headset evolved into the Mobile phone.
Ay oh you got it!
Sellers dressed like a time traveler while the interviewer looks totally seventies era
This interview was as close to himself as you'll ever see.
It always blows my mind that he didn't think he was funny? He was naturally funny and imo just as funny as Monty Python.
no sellers and the goon show....no python
Thin line between crazy and genius, he managed to teeter on the edge of both for good and bad. Brilliant comedian and actor when he got to show off his range.

18:42 I love this
Similar issues to robin Williams.
Brilliant.

JUST VERY INTERESTING AND NOT OUT OFASHION
Where did he live in Ireland?
Peter lived in Maynooth, County Kildare for a little while

Where in Ireland did he live?, i heard he lived with a native american.
He lived near Maynooth, in County Kildare
@@misterpetersellers Ah no way

It took me about a minute or two after until I understood that Jewish joke
This is a remarkable interview, as you do not see peter sellers trying to be funny, but being serious for once.....
Very fidgety like his colleague Spike
What's he doing with a Covid model?
Interviewer deemed his Martian joke antisemitic. Nonsense!
Sellers was Jewish.
@@zakmartin His mother was and his father was Protestant. Doesn't alter my opinion of the interviewer taking umbrage with his joke.
@@johnoliver533 In Judaism, you are Jewish if your mother is Jewish.
Totally agree that there was nothing antisemitic about the Martian joke.
As a Martian myself , I wasn’t offended at all
Oh God I hope Martians have a sense of humour
